Just picked up the game at Toysrus with the 20% coupon. Will post impressions later.

Overall I'm pretty impressed. Seems improved in many small ways. Fictional player names are improved. Graphics are more crisp. Menus navigate faster. The new features are fantastic....etc

Disappointed in the lack of pregame presentation and the continously horrible and unaddressed fictional faces though.

I noticed a bug on the in game quick menu though. Balls are listed as strikes and strikes as balls. Obviously easy to figure out though.

Also, what happened to online play? Did they just remove it from this year's version without any notice? I hope I'm just missing it somewhere. Love the vita vs vita play in last year's version.

Lastly, MLB live gameplay seems to eliminate custom player batting/pitching motions. Hopefully it's just a bug with the live roster that will be fixed in the update on 4/8.

Can't seem to do QuickCounts in live mode either, which is a shame.

It definitely never happened on the vita version before. In terms of patches, the vita has not gotten any love.

One of the best features in the game imo.
Thanks for this post, it opened up a whole new ball game for me! I didn't keep up on all the news & dev blogs so I wasn't aware of the player lock outside RTTS.

Generated counts + Lock is a real gem. Hit variety was sweet and saw tough plays lead to errors or balls thrown poorly - basically everything feels organic.

I do have a question though. Suppose you want to play short-stop on defense but you want to bat with your slugger? Is there a way to do this? After the inning is complete it goes immediately into sim mode. I'd like it if the game forced me to push a button to proceed after the 3rd out. That way I could go into the menu and change to a different player before it starts simming.

That's a good idea about switching between offense and defense for the player-lock. As you mentioned, maybe give us an option to interrupt the sim and make that change prior to the next half-inning starting.

The biggest downer for me on the Vita is the darkness levels when the shadows creep up on the infield... Specifically during day games when set to clear skies. I use the catcher cams to hit but none of the preset cams seem to address the poor contrast levels the shadows trigger. (The pitcher and hitter seem to be sitting in a dark room.) I've tried to increase the brightness level on the Vita itself but it's locked at short of max. For this reason I set all my exhibition games to overcast to avoid the exaggerated darkness from the shadows. Anyone else seen this?

So the frame rate issue is only on the download version?

If so that sucks that's the version I wanted to get.....

I have the downloaded version and have found NO frame rate issues. Runs smooth only thing that takes a while is loading up a game

I have the download version and it's been ok so far. The odd slowdown but nothing game breaking.

Same here. I have the downloaded version and haven't seen a single framerate issue. But I've also been playing RTTS pretty much exclusively, so I don't know if this is something been seen only in regular games.

The only time I see any slowdown is when the batter first steps into the box. I'd say it happens around 20% of the time, if that.

Can anyone let me know how uniform selection works in RTTS? I was drafted by the Marlins and want to set my gear accordingly. Will the team automatically select all of their alternate uniforms or will I be stuck to wearing the default home and aways?

I have the physical copy and played a few games so far. Haven't noticed any framerate issues. I don't really care about online head to head being removed as I never played it in the last 2 versions. Disappointed to see the created players faces are still ugly. As someone mentioned before, I also noticed the balls and strikes are switched on the quick menu in game. Hope there's a patch to fix a few of those minor issues.
