Re: MLB 14 The Show Impressions From the Community (PS Vita)

I didn't play much of '13 last season, but I've been playing it the past few days to get up to speed for '14. Here are some thoughts on the game so far:
    • I saw a missed diving catch. Hooray!
    • The hit variety is much improved
    • Pitches seem markedly faster, even with Pitch Speed down a couple clicks
    • The players in the dugouts is cool! Props to SCEA for continuing to improve this game
    • No more 423 feet HRs every time.
    • Also, SCEA did a great job of updating fonts, indicators, scoreboards, etc.
Whether its just a different color or whatever, it makes the game fresh.
    • The new cameras are a little hard to get used to at first, but I play on "High" on defense and no framerate issues.

The improvements on this game make me wish Madden had released a couple more games on the Vita.

So, you think it's worth the upgrade, BC? I keep going back and forth on whether to get this or not.

Wow, huge frame rate issues here. I have the PS Store version, 64 GB card, launch Vita. I thought it might just be because of the new fielding camera but I have serious stuttering in all fielding cameras views. I never had a problem with previous Shows. Granted I only tried one game in Marlins Park - maybe it's stadium specific?

Personally, I do. It's nice to have a fresh coat of paint on everything. The players in the dugout alone are worth the price lol.

Of course I'm not the best judge of this kind of stuff, I waste a ton of money haha.

Love this game. Went with the vita version first considering I play it the most. Absolutely far and away the best mlb the show experience to date IMO.
Granted I don't care about little things. I care about gameplay and it's amazing.
I love that I can turn on fastballs, love I can draw walks, love I have to work for k's, love the hit variety...

              Just top notch.

This is why I wait two years to purchase sports titles.

Also, no frame rate issues here. I have a physical copy, if that makes a difference.

Game got a 6.5 on the PSU review site, but the fans on this site are probably more legit. What would you guys rate this game?

It seems that the common denominator for frame rate issues is whether the user has a digital or hard copy. I have a hard copy running on a release Vita, 32GB card and the latest OS and am having no issues whatsoever.

I honestly believe that this years game is a HUGE improvement over previous years - I am not upset about the lack of an online gameplay component - I leave that to the console version.

Now, I can't wait to see the PS4 game.

I know it is still quick count only but have they added cut animations, fielding, home runs defensive plays?
yes, if you choose broadcast presentation they have normal commentary. you can also choose a mode that's pretty similar to last year.

haven't had any framerate issues, this was an easy pickup for me cause I switched from 360 to PS4 and haven't had enough of my MLB fix, been enjoying RTTS so far, although I did just get called up from AA to to the Mets in May of my first year :o.

Depends, looking for full on features and presentation? 6. Looking for great baseball gameplay you can take on the go and still track stats and manage your team? 9.

Minus one point for lack of a home run replay, huge baseball, and, well I can't think of anything else atm.

Perfect, was not looking for presentation. Those cut scenes are a waste of time anyway. I'm a big fan of baseball game play, such as power pro baseball. So this looks like a must buy for me tomorrow!!

Ended up downloading it, and I'm glad I did. I guess I got lucky because I'm not seeing any framerate issues at all. I had been playing 13 up until a few days ago and there are definitely improvements. In just a few games I've noticed a number of new animations, lots of updated batting stances that are actually accurate, absolutely love quick counts, new catcher animations are nice, but still not great, and the hit variety does seem better as others have said.

                            Love the new fielding cameras.

Biggest complaint I have right now is that the Indians being rated 21st overall. That is a travesty lol.

Yeah, I'd agree. If you're looking for a mobile, offline baseball game that plays really well, I think it's a great buy. It plays a great game of baseball.

Got the hard copy, played a night game in Angels Stadium - no framerate issues I can see. Like the new ball trail views after you hit the ball, dynamic cams and hit variety.

Enjoy playing defense & pitching but don't like hitting, I can't tell one pitch from another. This is not a Vita issue though, game just needs a tip-off indicator like MVP, 2K and PYS has. In those games all I ever needed was the default batting camera. With The Show I'm over here trying all the numerous cameras hoping something will help. Just give me one camera with one good "Batting Eye" mechanic.
