Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Upside potential: An All-Star first baseman who hits in the middle of the lineup and hits 30-plus homers and drives in more than 100 runs annually.
They said it: "You come out of Spring Training and they're so young and never experienced a full season, so you don't know what you're going to get. For someone that young, it's a testament to what our staff did and a testament to the kind of kid Angel is. He's a tremendous talent and he dedicated himself much better to becoming a professional." -- Augusta GreenJackets manager Andy SkeelsXBL: DTX3

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Even with his awe inspiring homeruns....he's prone to strikeouts and fails to realize when pitchers are pitching around him....he's got very little patience at the plate against rookie pitching.....it remains to be seen if he will be able to adjust to higher level pitching let alone MLB pitching.
B is fair for now..

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
I agree I wouldn't exactly call him "garbage" either but I also don't rate him as high as a B either. The fact that he doesn't even make top 300 prospect lists (I stand corrected, he's actually 247 in scouting book) is a kick in the gut to Pirate fans by Dave Littlefield. Of course it's not Moskos fault he was drafted higher then he should have been, he could still turn out to be a solid reliver someday, maybe even a closer.
Originally he was a reliver for Clemson, he was only made a starter out of need by the team. I also don't think you can blame his stats entirely on defense, there are other pitchers in Lynchburg as well that had better stats, although Moskos was a year younger.
I guess it's not a stretch to say he is a "B" potential but I would only rate him as a "C". In MLB09 The Show I have heard even "C" potential players can turn out to be solid MLB players. EDIT: If there are more than 250 "B" potential editable players in MLB09 The Show then I'm okay with Moskos being rated as a "B" potential.
Are we talking video game wise or real life? If it's real life it might just be personal opinion. Baseball Prospectus has McCutchen at number 25 of its top 100 prospects while Baseball America has him at 33 on it's top 100 list. Most lists have him between 25 and 35.
The Show has room for I think 25 "A" potential players. Here are 30 players that might be considered to have more potential than McCutchen.
1. Matt Wieters C
2. David Price LHP (I think he is already in the game)
3. Colby Rasmus OF
4. Tommy Hanson RHP
5. Jason Heyward OF
6. Travis Snider OF
7. Brett Anderson LHP
8. Cameron Maybin OF
9. Madison Bumgarner LHP
10. Neftali Feliz RHP
11. Trevor Cahill RHP
12. Pedro Alvarez 3B
13. Mike Moustakas 3B
14. Buster Posey C
15. Dexter Fowler OF
16. Mike Stanton OF
17. Lars Anderson 1B
18. Logan Morrison 1B
19. Alcides Escobar SS
20. Gordon Beckham SS
21. Rick Porcello RHP
22. Chris Tillman RHP
23. Justin Smoak 1B
24. Eric Hosmer 1B
25. Brian Matusz LHP
26. Carlos Santana C
27. Matt LaPorta OF/1B
28. Tim Beckham SS
29. Jarrod Parker RHP
30. Fernando Martinez OF
On the rating A,B,C, I'm talking solely about The Show ratings for Knight's rosters.Last edited by JoeRyan33; 03-26-2009, 06:53 PM.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Hey Knight, can you tell me if Starlin Castro, Junior Lake, and Hak-Ju Lee made the cut for the Cubs? And if they did what you gave them for potential?
Thanks.NFL: Green Bay Packers

Knight, great job. I respect the fact that you and the other fellas are taking the time to get the rosters in tip top shape. Quick question, will Matt Dominquez from the marlins be included? I am assuming he will be a B rating in regards to potential? thanks for all your help. Keep up the great workComment

Plus...I'm sure they are going to move either Lake or Castro so that both can play....but who knows which?!
Under the gun...B-C-C and I will probably put Castro in if any. The Cubs also have Flaherty who will jump up to Hi-A, correct?
If you prefer one in....let me know. I'll try and squeeze two in for you. Lee is probably the odd man out...I don't have any statistical data for him.

Well....three shortstops .....none of them in AAA or even AA is tough.

Out of the other three, Castro, Lake, and Lee would be my order.
If you can squeeze one of them in there, please do it with Castro.
And about one of them moving... I could see Lake or Castro (the scouts say they have plus arms) moving to possibly center... hopefully not having the same results as Pie.
I think they could always move Flaherty to second, and have either Lake or Castro play SS, then the one NOT playing shortstop roam centerfield, but thats just me.
Its a bit of a log-jam with them three down there and Flaherty above them. I can't wait to see what Lake and Castro do this year down in the minors, they could be some slept-on prospects, hopefully.
EDIT: I've looked at them some more, and if I were to move one or have an opinion on who moves I would say Lake is probably going to get moved out of SS to CF possibly. With Starlin and Flaherty both at SS, either one of them could be moved to 2B.
On Hak-Ju Lee, all you can find are scouting reports. If he can do in the minors what them scouting reports describe, he might be something special; however, I don't see where he would play but third.Last edited by chicubsfan20; 03-26-2009, 08:23 PM.NFL: Green Bay Packers
