Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Last year I would agree with you. He had a very rough time at A+ Lynchburg Hillcats in 2008 with a 5.95 ERA and his K/9 rate dropped considerably which was the biggest thing going for him at Clemson.
Moskos has fallen off the radar for most prospect reports on the Pirates. Projections now have him as a bullpen guy as he has struggled mightily after pitching more than 2 or 3 innings. Perhaps as a Middle Reliever he has a "B" potential, but as a Starter he is a "C".
It was the last mark Littlefield left on the Pirates, choosing Moskos over Weiters becuase Moskos was 3.5 Million cheaper. Well actually it was the 2nd to last, the last was trading Rajai Davis for Matt Morris and his 11 million price tag a month after the draft. Morris bombed and the Pirates are still paying the 11 million yet they wouldnt spend an extra 3.5 million on a great prospect like Weiters."I am more valuable to my team hitting .330 than swinging for home runs." - Roberto Clemente

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
I cover the Pirates minor league teams for the Tribune Review, Moskos should be a C, he his garbage. I created a Pirates roster on the PS3 if you guys would like to see it, not spot on, but really good to have a franchise. Alvarez, Tabata and McCutchen are the A players, Shelby Ford, Dan McCutchen, Bryan Morris, Brad Lincoln, Neil Walker all have B ratings, along with a bunch of Cs and Ds that include Brian Friday, Robbie Grossman, Jim Negrych and Christian Casatorri.
PVT MESSAGE me if you want a copyComment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Knight, I would definitely like to see RP Christian Casatorri on the Pirates AA team. He was one of the guys I chose for my Pirates roster."I am more valuable to my team hitting .330 than swinging for home runs." - Roberto Clemente

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
I know I went overboard giving the Pirates three A players, but I want to build a franchise around Tabata, McCutchen and Alvarez. They are truly 3 of the top 30/35 prospects in baseball. I actually have Casatorri as a Closer in Double A.Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
hey knight im sure you are moving along pretty nicely with the rosters and have plenty of sources for your information, but im not sure if you know of this site or not. its called thebaseballcube.com. i found a part on the site where you can go in and look at the entire organizational rosters for each team (from rookie up to majors), which is based on 2008 obviously. you can click on any player you want and it shows all of their stats and offers small scouting report (not sure how accurate the numbers they provide are but im sure you can tell if they are not accurate with all the research you have). but anyways here is the link:
like i said im sure you have all the resources you need but i just thought id throw this out there..i thought it was pretty cool.Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Hey Knight . . . I'm one of those guys who just patrol the thread but don't post, however I do have one question. I'm a huge Dodgers fan and I love your rosters but last year in your set there was a mistake where Andre Either threw right handed in the outfield, I know some may not find it to be a big issue but it bugged the hell out of me haha. Anyways, that's not going to happen this year to Either or to anyone else for that matter is it?Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
My wife went to college with a guy Steven Bhutz that was a switch pitcher on the baseball team. He was even featured in Sports Illustrated (late 80s/early 90s). He never made it. He was a power pitcher from the R, and a lollipop thrower on the L. There have been a few here and there, but they tend to be better on one side and rarely use their other side. This guy would pick one side for the entire game depending on the situation, and stick with it. He said it was too hard to switch mid-game, but he could do it against a batter here and there. There is no rule against that as far as I know (there wasn't back then in college).Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
As a matter of fact, there is a switch pitcher, his name, Pat Venditte, he plays in the Yankees system :-)
There is actually a rule made because of him, and just so happens to be named after him as well ;-)
ENJOY :-)Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Hey Knight don't know if you are aware of this or not, but O's pitcher Koji Uehara has developed a change up. i don't know how effective it is yet, he only used it in his most recent start. From what I heard it was decent (for his first use anyway).Comment

No, it's fine. I should have used it, I guess I just didn't know there was a search function for an individual thread.Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Hey Knight sorry if youve answered this but what do you normally end up doing with players like Travis Snider because you can't edit his potential? Do you end up making him as if hes already developed? or remake him? Well thanks in advance and once again sorry if it's been asked!Comment

Bravesfan...yes...I look at the cube...I don't swear by it or the ratings...but every bit helps. Thanks for the link though!
