Twins after Chicago ? The games I've played with these rosters have been really fun. I love using classic rosters because it brings me back to my childhood. I guess I was only 11 back in 2000. My favorite baseball year(even though my Twins sucked) was 1998 because it was my first year playing a baseball game which was Triple Play 98 on playstation.

          Bobby Higginson....
now there was a guy who PRICED himself out of a job...
I remember some of the clueless Mets fans clamoring for him...we HAD to get him, etc.....

I've always like historical seasons(specific) and although I really like to go further back then just 10 years....the league structure limit was too much for me to look past.....and now that I'm editing and we are talking 2000....it's amazing what you forget when it comes to even such a recent season.
Even with the Tigers, of which I finished about 28 players....I forgot about Bobby Higginson and Dean Palmer. Two solid players.
The Tigers were another club that could hit, but pitch....YIKES!

Was this during the Steve Phillips-era? I've tried to block most of the actual moves (Mo Vaughn, shudder) and rumored moves out of my mind.

Somehow he managed to put together a good team in 1999 and 2000 and with Bobby V. running the ship (always liked him), I thought we were in store for a good run. But, after the WS loss, Phillips apparently lost all common sense and turned the team into a pile of rubble in a short amount of time.

              Re: Bobby Higginson

it sure was the PHillips era.....

Higginson had that big year in 2000 and each year after, his production went down. I also recall he was pretty tough to deal with...with that attitude he had..
after he bombed out in 2005, no one would chance signing him that off-season

                Cubs???? Cubs???? Cubs????

2000 in Chicago was about the White Sox. Too bad that team got decimated by injuries and inexperience when it came to the playoffs against the M's.

Anyway, looking forward to playing when you have the White Sox up.

Not until '01. He led the league in hitting that year. ....350 BA, I believe.

Hell ya! Thanks a lot! Thats a pretty good lineup of teams. I can't wait to play some Twins(last place) vs. Sox(1st place) games. I just looked on wikipedia and I had no idea the Twins were that horrible. Obviously I knew they finished in last cuz we got Mauer with the first pick in the 01 draft. It's truly amazing how the Twins won the division just two years later with basically the same nucleus of players. I know all of the Twins starters in 02 played for the Twins in 2000. Flat out crazy.

Okay here is the link for the Tigers added.
I still have to fix the pitch arsenal for about a dozen pitchers...I left my Guide to Pitchers at work...the starting staff and a couple of guys in the minors are correct...it's the last dozen or so.

                              Let me know any corrections/suggestions.

                              Enjoy!

Even though I'm a Cubs fan I must agree with Whitesox. That '00 Sox team was damn fun to watch, and they won 95 games compared to the Cubs' 65.

It's funny, I have the season opener in Tokyo against the Mets on DVD, and Thom Brenneman said the Cubs had "nowhere to go but up" after only winning 67 in 1999. Guess he was wrong about that

It was a BAD season in Cubland. Willie Greene, Jeff Huson, Andrew Lorraine, Brian Williams, Ismael Valdez, Shane Andrews, Jose Nieves. Good Lord, what a bad team that was.

The one upside to that year, I thought, was Scott Downs, who despite a 5.17 ERA was only 24 and showed some really good prowess as a starter. And we traded him for Rondell White, a trade I still don't think we should've made. I think we could've kept developing Downs and made him an integral part of successful Cubs teams for years to come.

Shame, because now he's a damn good relief pitcher. Just Ed Lynch and the Cubs front office at their very best!
