I also wouldn't lessen CPU contact, at least on All-Star.... the CPU offense is fine at default.

There just isn't a need for sliders for this game. Maybe a few tweaks (like the pitch speed).

I've also lessened accuracy by one tick, just to have a bit more throwing issues...

I haven't seen many errors though... so I might up that one.

But again, not much is needed.... the game would be fine if you played out the box all the time. I might not even make the changes, since you can't save them simply anyway. I don't want to have to do a work-around all the time.
I agree with everything you said. The game really doesn't need much. I kinda think that extreme use of the sliders in this game throws off the balance. Although I love the pitch count slider maxed out. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't too far off in my assessment.

I know the arms are like lasers, but I remember last year with the arms turned down there were a lot of hits. I went back to default and alot of those infield hits were taken away. Just a theory... Pared, Joe-- what do you think about that?

Well man, thats definatly an issue...i still havent got my hand on this piece of art(mlb06 the show)but i do remember that in MLB06 at first i came to a conlusion that i needed to lower the arm strengh to make more extra base hits(more runs in less hits) but than that thing you said started to happend too often..way too many infield singles..what would unbalance again the H/R ratio...i am just praying that in this game i wont get 4R 15H box scores..specially casue in a franchise mode that would make very very unrealistics .avr i remember i had Manny with .398 avr and a low slugging %..wich is absolutly impossible for him, evan being a great hitter, he will never hit 398....but lets see..hopefully tomorrow or monday my game will arrive, and i will jump in this issue more deaply with you guys..cause right now all i can say is about last years game..and from what i am hearing from the show..

also JOE ..i hope you(and also me) can get many many box scores like that Mets-Phill game of yours...where the hits number where close enough from the Runs number

Pared looks like we all agree, that out of the box this is an amazing product that need just minor tweaks. Go ahead and post the minor tweaks .

basically Like last year but in the show is HOF difficulty. No strize zone or hot zones, i dont use the guess feature i just swing away at pitches i can get contact with and influence with the L stick and R stick only for bunting and Sac flys.

Pared, you CAN save the sliders, just like last year. No work around, just set them in franchise and play that, i am doing that but whe opening day rosters come out.

Re: Sooo anything you noticed so far that will need tweaking?

I'm getting too many hard hit balls (I'm playing on HOF). It's not as bad as last year and the hit variety is much improved, but the hard hit ball to softly hit ball ratio is definitely off. I'm enjoying this game much more than last years (I would give this game at least an 8.5/10 while last years game I would give at most a 6/10). I'm able to score from 2nd a good percentage of times on singles.

The batting power and contact sliders aren't the same as there were last year. To try to get more softly hit balls I lowered the contact sliders all the way to 0 but I noticed in 2 or 3 games no one got doubles (it's as if the players just didn't have the ability to hit doubles but players were still hitting singles pretty hard). Right now I got the contact and power sliders at 8 and it seems pretty decent, I'm getting a good amount of doubles so far (probably need to raise power because the CPU and me are not hitting enough HRs).

This game plays really well at of the box, just need to adjust the batting sliders to have softly hit balls more commonplace. I tried contact at 0 and power at 20, didn't work (way too many HRs).

Yeah, if we can find a setting that reduces hard-hit balls but still allows for a realistic number of HR's and extra-base hits, that will make the game near perfect.

I suggest baserunning Full, that should give you better baserunning awareness. Should clear the no doubles stuff you got with contact at 0 aka more many kind of hits.

Just my opinion, but I think your sliders from last year Joe work perfect for this game. I've had doubles, triples, natural swing homers, and have had them hit against me as well. The only difference is I have the pitch count slider maxed as well. Just lost a game with the O's because of a routine ground ball to second and Roberts air-mails it over Conine's head putting the winning run on second. I checked my lineup to make sure it wasn't Knoblach on the field.

Pared do you mean pitch speed or player arm strength?

OK, I retract my last statement. Went back to default for one game, but put the pitch count and pitch speed maxed, along with errors at 12. Played a very realistic game. So, now I don't know which way to go with the settings.

Should we set the errors on 12 for both the CPU and User?
