Thanks for the tips. I stuck to meter pitching but raised the contact and power sliders one each. I played two games vs the A's in my season and i won 3-2 and than lost 4-3 so maybe thats all I needed to do. Thanks again for the great sliders.

        Re: Favre4vr's HOF slider tweaks

I played a game with my Royals against the Twins, changing only the view from "Wide" to "Catcher", raising User Contact from 5 to 10, and setting fielding and throwing to manual (I'm tired of seeing line drives zoom past my outfielders without an attempt to catch the ball). Had an excellent game, although I lost 2-1

        Twins 2 12 0
        Royals 1 4 1

Only struck out seven times in the game, six of them thanks to Kyle Lohse. I was able to foul off more pitches and put more balls in play. The good thing was that with contact at 10, I wasn't whacking the ball around; rather, I saw more soft popups, soft grounders, and choppers. My only run of the game came off of a Mike Sweeney opposite field blast.

I think I'm going to stick to these settings for good. Thanks for the help and your good work with these sliders. They've made the game much more enjoyable for me!

No problem guys...I am glad they are working out for you both.

Ryan--I have a strong feeling that the game is so well made that contact would still yield great hit variety.

Just an update. I love the sliders. 42 games into my O's franchise using the meter to pitch, and I must be really horrible compared to you guys. I have a team ERA of 6.31 and averaging 5+ walks a game. I just can't pitch to save my life in this game. I'm in last place with a record of 12-30.

well i think i'm finally going to bring myself to try classic again after using it on king of the diamond to see if i could get a feel for it, it seemed that there wasn't a speed difference between taping, holding for a little bit and holding all the way though.... oh well i'm going to try the classic pitching sliders because even though not the greatest era with the meter and such i paint the corner with too much ease, not really realistic will report tomorrow or monday on the classic attempt

CLASSIC PITCHING HOF SLIDER TWEAKS *As of April 15, 2006

                Level--HOF
                CLassic Pitching
                Batter view--Wide
                Pitcher view--outfield
                Fielding view--Low (My preference)
                All pitching aids off
Everything set to manual (baserunning, fielding)
Pitch Speed- Default to +4 whatever you are comfortable with.
Contact-- -5 for me, -2 for the CPU (Default is 10)
Power--Default for both (Cowboy really convinced me of this plus with the classic pitching, you'll give up a fair share)

Arm Stregnth--Default for both. This is personal preference. A lot of guys like -4 or -6. It's fine, but sometimes I feel too many slow roller hits.

Arm Accuracy-- -4 for both (Greatly helps with errors)
Error frequency-- +3 for me and +5 for the CPU (The CPU needs some "help" with errors)
                CPU baserunning aggression-- +5
                Pitch count--Max
                Strike Zone--Wide

That does it for now. I am getting good results with these. Hopefully they help someone.

                METER HOF SLIDER TWEAKS (FINAL)

                Settings
                Level--HOF
Batting View--WIDE (This was a recent change. I helps cut down on some hits for me)
                Pitching View--Outfield
Fielding level--Low (A preference. I like being closer to the action)
Pitching aids--All off (Strike zone, h/c zone, cursor)
                Baserunning--All manual.

                Sliders (all clicks from default)
                Pit count- Max
Contact-- -5 for me, default for the CPU
                Power-- +2 for both
Pitch speed-- Default to +4. Whatever you comfort level is.
                Baserunning aggressive-- +5
Throw Speed--Default (although -2 for both works ok)
                Thow Accuracy-- -4 for both
Errors-- +3 for me and +5 for the CPU (The CPU needs some "help" with errors)
                Strike Zone--Wide
so when it says +4 you mean adding 4 to the default slider setting? so it would be 14? when it reads -6, that would be 4 on tyhe slider setting?

                      Re: Favre4vr\'s HOF slider tweaks

I\'m having a problem, maybe someone can help me. I have the PSP version of the game and it is fantastic, plays a great game of baseball. I was using Favre\'s sliders and the game is great, but hitting is just way too EASY once you get the hang of it. Granted I am playing with the Yankees, but half my lineup is hitting above .500. I shouldn\'t have anyone over .400. Anyone, I tried lowering contact to 0 (-10 from default) and I also lowered power to 0 (-10 from default) and it got a bit better, still haven\'t played enough with this new setting. Anyone else having this problem? I am playing on HoF difficulty with pitch speed at +4 from default. Any help would be appreciated to make the game a bit more challenging. Just so you know, the power seems ok, no one is hitting too many homeruns, it\'s just that I am averaging literally 16+ hits per game.

Try lowering pitch speed to 10 (default). I had the same problem with pitch speed at 15, I was getting like 15 hits and scoring 5 runs a game. My theory is that lowering pitch speed actually makes hitting harder because the window to make good contact is smaller when pitch speed is lower because the pitch takes longer to get to the plate which increases the chances of swinging at bad time. Also, I feel with increasing pitch speed, the game for some reason gives you a better chance of hitting the ball hard if your swing is decent enough. I just feel with a lower pitch speed, you just need to be more on with your timing. You'll also notice that hit variety will improve because you will be spraying the ball all over the field more. And, the excessive number of ground balls to center will decline. I still feel hitting is a bit too easy even with lowering the pitch speed but I'm getting much better hit totals now. For HOF level, hitting should not be this easy and there should be 2 levels with 9 zone hitting.

I am backwards LOL, with speed lower then 14 i get 15(some times 19) hits and not alot of runs( 4 to 5 ). I am not sure if you remember my settings from last years game but i had to actually put the speed FASTER( i think it was at 19! ) in order to get realism going and a good feel at the plate.

I think, like Cowboy, it is pitch speed. I play with default pitch speed. I only have +4 from the early makings of the sliders when I thought certain people wanted it higher. I do think default is great. I play as the Yanks too and I haven't come close to those numbers. Let us know what goes.

Thanx Favre. I fast forwarded to regular season from spring training with the contact and power sliders at 0 and it was a whole different ballgame, I couldn't hit a lick. I guess there is a HUGE difference between Spring Training games and Regular Season games. i went back to your sliders and so far, so good. I'll keep you updated.
