Re: Slider suggestion
ok man ill post it here...the ones i dont write means i didnt change..
Those are really radical sliders as i leave some things maxed and others zeroed out, and seems to be working pretty well so far.
ill post them later on SC as "brunnoce"
From default HOF
I use Guess pitch and API
0= default
GLOBAL
Pitch speed +10
Pitch Count +10
USER
User Hit Quality -10
User Power +1
User Plate Vision -9
User Timing Window +10
Starting Pitcher Fatigue +10
Relive Pitcher Fatigue +10
User Foul Tip +10
User Pitch Control +10
CPU
(dont know if the cpu hitting will work for u, as i use API i might suck at pitching, casue i let the cacther call my game , so maybe thats why i get realistic results from the cpu offense whith my sliders)
CPU
CPU Hit Quality -10
CPU Power +1
CPU Plate Dicipline -10
CPU Foul Tip -10
CPU Timing Window -10
CPU Fielder Reaction +10
CPU Baserunning Speed +10(i use auto baserunning)
CPU Pitcher Agressivness -5( or -10 i cant remember now)
CPU Pitcher Control +10
CPU Pitch Movment +10
CPU Strike % -10
ok, thats it, gime a feedback once u tested it....
rember these sliders are for really really patient players... i draw like +3 walks a game with a regular team and +4 with my A's, as i play money ball lolComment

Re: Slider suggestion
So in lieu of a CPU Vision slider, should I simply take Brian's suggestion to be CPU Power +6 and CPU Hit Quality +6?
I've been using that, and +3 pitch speed, -6 timing window, -4 Con, -4 Vis for human hitting (in addition to +4 pitch count) and it seems nice for my Rays franchise, but I doubt it will work when I restart my Mets 'chise with today's rosters. CPU offense is better, but there just seem to be too many hits, all around. I'm not getting the infusion of walks in place of hits that I hoped to get from upping pitch count. Does +10 pitch count really help with walks, without "breaking the game" so to speak?Comment

Re: Slider suggestion
Hey guys new here.
I posted a reply on a different thread "about cpu pitch control"
and I think I found something.
To increase walks try shifting the strike % slider all the way to the right. Yes I know strange, but I think ITS BACKWARDS!
Just try it one game. 4 innings all the way to the left then 5 innings or so all the way to the right. For a full report go to my other post.
I also have pitch control all the way to the right. For the purpose of this test put everything back to all default with the exception of pitch control and strike %. This is on HOF by the way.
I think you will all see a HUGE difference. I did.
Post back your results.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Can anyone confirm this?[Insert clever, personally-relevant, or cutting-edge remark, data, link, or picture]Comment

Re: Slider suggestion
I hope someone else can test this out.
When I was playing last night I looked at Batista's stats for the mariners (the guy I was up against) before the game.
0-3 10.32 Era 20 strikeout2 22 walks. I though for sure with strike % slider all the way down he would wlak at least one of my hitters....No chance he threw almost 89% strikes. I looked at the pitcher analysis and it looked like a gun range target. Completely peppered the strike zone for 6 innings. Then when I changed the Strike % slider all the way up he immediately walked 3 batters. I finished with 5 walks. Oh yeah and I lost...Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: Slider suggestion
Has anyone tried this? I've recently been playing with similar settings that Brian suggested. I've toned down CPU HQ to +3 from +6, PWR +3 from +6, CPU Timing -6. At +6 since the patch the CPU rocks me. Human HQ -4, Plate Vision -4. Everything else at default. I think it plays a good game. Curious to see if anyone else is getting good results with these settings.Comment

I still can't figure out CPU timing window though. Brian apparently says it doesn't affect anything, but I swear when I bump it up to around 8+ or so it seems like they hit a lot better, especially with pitches over the plate.
Same goes for Human pitch control. It seems like -6 I can still hit my spots too consistently, but one notch down to -7 and everything goes wild.
This slider business has been rather frustrating. I just wish there was a default hard mode that was balanced and made sense.Comment

Re: Slider suggestion
If you want to make your difficulty somewhat harder, try this:
+6 Pwr +6 Con + 6 Vis for AI to increase AI offense modestly (average MLB team becomes a great team, or a terrible MLB team becomes average)
-6 timing window + 3 pitch speed for Human to add some extra challenge to hitting.
Likewise to make your team's hitting somewhat harder, you can try:
-4 Con -4 Vis with no other changes. Your strategy may need to slightly adjust.
I wish the game explained it better, but Con and Vis should generally go together or some things will happen and it won't raise R/9 as much as you'd expect. We tried to give the user complete control but in retrospect we should have combined the two and found a different way to control the distinction. Part of this was due to some key priorities in other areas that are now working well in the shipped game.
Some teams such as the Mets have stacked pitching - as the season starts and people age/improve that will probably change. Besides Johan Santana and Pedro Martinez, the other three are decent but almost as good when they're lucky. The reason is they have almost as good stuff as Johan in H/9 and K/9 year after year, they just totally lack the control to locate it (BB/9). That results in lower ERA that on another team would often bump them up one in the rotation. That's often the difference between top tier and 2nd/3rd tier pitching, and these kind of pitchers can be more streaky. Take a look at the type of 2nd tier pitchers who throw perfect games, but then have awful performances soon after.
Both the team quality and difficulty level play a factor.Last edited by gepetto420smoker; 05-20-2008, 11:45 PM.Comment
