I have mine at default. I got 3 doubles last game, so I'm not worried about XBH, but that's just my preference. I like to leave as much of the game as-is as possible.

Reaction is fine at default. I don't agree with the people that raise it (some all the way to +10). Fielders already seem to gobble up everything, so if anything you can lower it. But just leave it at default and decide for yourself.

I turn down Fielder Speed to -4 from default. Fielders run pretty fast in this game.

        Superjew887 has his sliders at:

        Fielder Run Speed: -4
        Fielder Reaction: +10
        Fielder Arm Strength: -2

I went to these. I dont think its absolutely necessary.

I am actually thinking about switching to default. Not to much of a difference on vet.

I tried my fist game on Veteran and have to agree...not a huge differnce from All Star, but enough to halp me some.

I actually got fewer hits on Veteran than AS, but put the ball into play a lot more. It's definitely more forgiving...as Autumn Wind said I was able to foul off bad pitches I swung at rather than mising completely.

It definitely has pontential. I am going to continue to run on Vet for a while.

I am using ToBriens sliders with a few tweaks of my own and recent changes from Superjews sliders and finally feel like I have it narrowed down to what I like. I used the +5 for power -5 for contact and now can get a ball out of the infield. I thought it would lead to too many Hrs, but it has worked suprisingly well. Nice variety of infield hits, fly outs, line drives, hrs, and more now. Veteran just feels more balanced to me as I seen the CPU comeback on All-Star like others, but it seems toned down now and fair.

After giving up 12-15 hits a game to the cpu, I had to lower their hit sliders.

              contact-2
              power-5
              timing-2
              solid hits-2

it seems to be working well for me. The cpu still gets at about 9 hits a game and they still hit HR's.

Ah, it's good to see I'm not the only person here playing on Veteran. So many guys like to thump their chest about playing the higher modes.

I'm actually STRUGGLING at Veteran mode. I'm like 1-9 so far. I'll have to look around for some sliders if what I'm doing with mine isn't working.

Are you struggling at hitting or pitching or both?

My first couple of games after I made the switch were offensive slugfests, so I thought I was going to kill this level, then I got shutout by Peavy and dominated by Lowe, and it's proven to be very even and balanced. They did a helluva job tuning this.

That's funny...I was just the opposite. I was having a few pitcher's duels, and I just had a 13-2 win over the Dbacks. It is varied, but I think the human pitching is a tad too easy. HERE is a link to the thread I just posted that shows all the stats I collected on Veteran level. Pretty real, but there is something missing.

That's nice stuff, man. I love hard statistical analysis, and in some really interesting ways The Show holds up.

Regarding pitches thrown and swung at, as well as balls, I think play style may have a lot to do with that. You're attacking the zone pretty hard at nearly 70%, and it looks like you're not taking many pitches with the CPU at nearly the same strike ratio. My own personal play style involves lots of strategic balls and several unintended ones as well. I'll walk 3-4 a game on average, with maybe two being me not giving in to a hitter and 2 being my pitcher can't hit his spots.

For me and for the CPU, strike percentages are usually from 60-65% for the game, though I've seen both about as low as 58%.

Still, that's informative stuff. I'd love to see a larger sample size, and perhaps what kind of difference play styles make.

Right, my play style does affect this of course. But I found with veteran that it was too easy to nip the corners more often than not which resulted in my throwing more strikes. In only two games of All Star, my strike % has fallen to 61%.

I also swing too much...I'm still learning patience at the plate. Towards the end of my 20 games, the CPU strike % had actually fallen to a 64% average over the last 5 games. There's no problem at all getting the CPU to pitch correctly, it's my ability to lay of bad pitches that hurts that number.

I'm not ashamed to say Veteran for me is the way to go. I'm 3-4 in my Dodger season, currently on a 3 game losing streak. Playing on default sliders and the only problem I really have is patience at the plate. Some days I have it and the next I am all over the place. That to me is what makes this game so amazing. Anything can happen at any moment and you must pay attention at all times. Peace!!!!

I've been having pretty good luck playing Veteran, Classic pitching, with the following changes:

                                Pitch Speed -- 3

                                Fielder Run Speed -- 1

                                Fielder Reaction -- 10

                                HUM/CPU Power -- 10

                                HUM/CPU Reliever Stamina -- 0

                                HUM/CPU Control -- 3

                                CPU Strike Frequency -- 1
Quit making your stupid YouTube videos and start playing the game.
