If these exaggerated slider adjustments don't change things enough, then he should go ahead and do the editing of player ratings which should really be the last resort for the time sake...

For increasing offense, what I suggested above is obvious, but for pitching it might be trickier because pitching slider adjustments probably have a lot more subtle effects. I suggested to lower pitcher control just because the in-game description states that if you lower it, you should lower contact slider as well, which appears to suggest lowering pitcher control slider alone has a direct effect on increasing batting average (hence they should be adjusted in sync to keep batting average roughly similar for good game balance; by doing opposite, I thought I could make offense inflated. I could be wrong of this interpretation though...).

I think I didn't suggest to change pitcher consistency only because it has a far stronger effect (compared to pitcher control) on strike-to-ball ratio, and not sure if that's a desirable thing. But presumably you could lower that slider to make pitching weaker if necessary.
Ok, thanks for the quick reply. I'm about to run some minor league games as we speak and I have only raise contact and power so far.

Btw, are your sliders for All-star or it doesn't matter?

It doesn't matter in a sense that those adjustments were only meant to yield the maximized offense at a given difficulty level. It was just meant to test if he could generate enough offense to his liking. If you are seeing enough offense without any sliders adjustment, you'd rather not bother with making adjustment.

I've been searching through this thread for an actual slider set and am unable to find any. Could someone post the latest and greatest set? If there are no numbers available what is the actual name of the file to download on the PS3? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm a long time CPU vs CPU player/watcher!

        Thanks!

If mine suits your need then I have uploaded to the SportsConnect slider vault. It's dated June 3 under my username (nomo17k).

You might want to make the slight adjustments suggested for the June 3 version.

I have tried these out and through 1 game I am just confused. I did the "manage" game option from a franchise I started today just to give it a try and the CPU pitcher has been great with throwing strikes and what not and only walking 1.

My pitchers on the other hand through 6 innings have walked 8 guys. Is this because I selected "manage" game and didn't just leave it as CPU v CPU?

I'd say it's just a natural variation... Ubaldo isn't exactly Maddux, so he will have off day with command like that. Over a longer run, you will be seeing about 3 - 4 walks a game from both sides.

It's an interesting mode I haven't really spent much time in it but I think the last time I tried it I saw the same thing and that was just way to many walks and deep counts lol so I gave up.

I put HUM control at 7 thinking that would help but I dunno. Do the human sliders actually take effect in a manage vs cpu game?

Or are both sides just using the CPU sliders?

No, it's only CPU side that matters.

lol maybe that is my problem then. I was so worried about the human sliders to that I was changing them to mirror the cpu sliders. So then perhaps it was just an off strange day for Jimenez then. My pitchers have only walked 2 since I took him out after the 4th.

Realisitic MLB 2012 CPU VS CPU

I am a stickler for realism. Adjust these for realistic gameplay and stats for CPU vs CPU games which is my preferred way of play. I want to feel like I am watching a game on TV. Here you go.

Leave Hitting and Pitching on All Star. Put pitcher API in game options on.

1)Adjust CPU timing to 0, and the CPU Contact to 6. Leave power at 5. This will enable a nice balance between balls in play, fouls, and swings and misses.

                        2) Lower CPU foul balls to 4. (seems just right)

                        3) Raise CPU Pitcher strike Percentage to 6 (default yields too many high pitch counts)

                        4) Raise CPU starter stamina to 6 (some complete games are nice)

                        5) Lower CPU reliever stamina to 4

                        6) Raise Pitch Speed to 10 (Adds to the viewing excitement especially when your closer comes in throwing gas!)

                        7) raise pickoffs to 6 ( too high results in too many pick off attempts to 2nd base)

                        8) Lower CPU fielder speed to 4 (, throwing ability to 4, and baserunning speed to 4. (Will enable the right amount of extra base Hits)

                        9) Raise CPU stolen base frequency to 9. (I like stolen bases as I loved the 80's when runs were manufactured i.e. 85 cardinals)

                        10) Raise stolen base ability to 6.

                        11) Raise CPU errors for throwing and fielding to 6.

                        12) Raise injuries to 6

Try out and enjoy. Played 20 games with these and like what I am seeing.
