Re: CPU vs CPU
It's good that WPs don't have as much impact on games now, it was just too much before. But I also thought the motions and animations involving WPs were done pretty well before, except too much kicking balls which were unrealistic. Not sure what SCEA exactly fixed to produce less WPs now, but I feel catchers are too skilled in catching short hops post patch.
Last game I played, I intentionally kept throwing pitches in the dirt, and the only times the catcher misplayed seemed when I missed wide horizontally from the intended target.Comment

Re: CPU vs CPU
Actually I guess it is an improvement to get rid of the wild pitches although I think it may have gone a bit too far the other way. I didn't remember catchers getting errors on ball four in The Show '11 until this latest patch, if they did then it wasn't often. The only thing this affects is the stat lines, now there are more unearned runs that should be earned. I also thought there was a patch last year that fixed this issue with '10. Did it not?Comment

I see what you're getting at with the stats though.
I haven't gotten many games post patch in yet.....I didn't realize it was getting that much more prevalent than pre-patch.

Re: CPU vs CPU
I'm getting 2-3 errors a game on catchers not catching ball four cleanly. This obviously affects the ERA of pitchers and fielding percentage of teams. Doesn't really affect gameplay because the batter is getting first base anyway.Comment

Re: CPU vs CPU
Dai, if you are still reading this thread....I am using your sliders but I don't seem to be getting the strikeouts you are. My totals after about 50 games are more in the 6 k's per team per game range. Any thoughts? Also, since the patch came out what are you now doing with the catchers?
Thanks, SteveComment

Re: CPU vs CPU
Anyone lowered power to 3? I've just made the switch, I'm in the middle of May and there are a couple of guys on my team that are on pace for 60 homers so I wanted to tone it down a little bit. Seems like I've been hitting 3 homers or more a game.Comment

Re: CPU vs CPU
One thing to look into if your wind slider. I think the patch toned it down quite a bit, but wind used to have a very strong influence on the amount of HRs. If you suspect that's still the case, lowering the wind slider is something to consider as well.Comment

Re: CPU vs CPU
Ok I didn't think about that, the wind doesn't seem that strong anymore. On pop ups it doesn't seem that out of line.
I'm 8th in the league in homers, I've hit 54 as a team. It's just Uggla has 14 already, Heyward has 13, and McCann has 10. It's only May, lol.
I will say I've played with a couple of games with it at 3 and I've seen 3 homers in two games so I'm still getting homers but not as frequently.Comment

Anyone finding that CPU vs CPU games have more hits and runs after the patch? I am!Comment

Re: CPU vs CPU
My lower offense might be due to the rotation, the recent games are pitched by a lot of #1 & 2s. But I don't think offense is inflated. If anything, better pitcher fielding and lower wind effect should mean tiny bit less offense..Comment
