    Re: CPU vs CPU

I'm seeing variety, some games I see a lot of offense, others I don't. I'm seeing 7-5 games and 1-0 games.

And nomo17k I did go back and lower wind, the homers are still flying out. That might be a reason for it.

Did you lower power? I have mine set at 4 for a very long time, pre-patch I was consistently 1.1 - 1.2 per game per team range, was thinking of ways to tone down still, but post-patch, it's been around 0.9. Wind is at 3.

Yeah power is at 3, wind is now also at 3.

Just feel too many homers are hit with it at 4.

              Re: CPU vs CPU

Thanks Nomo, I've used these for a few games and like the early results. A couple things I don't like that are the fault of The Show and not the sliders are

              1. I'm tired of seeing the confidence of a pitcher have such a drastic effect. I had a game last night where C. Carpenter has a no-hitter going with your slider set against the Padres through 5 innings, in the sixth he gives up 6 runs on 8 hits before getting pulled. There isn't enough of a difference IMO between the great and the poor pitchers.

              2. Wild pitches on ball four are not errors! I wish The Show would get that correct.

              3. Too many guys get thrown out on the bases, especially going from 2nd to 3rd.

Any thoughts on how to correct any of this or if you have a different point of view?

                1. Over the longer run the difference will be more noticeable I think, but I shared the same concern. I suspect the reason is that I lowered pitcher consistency and strike frequency way down to produce walks. So pitchers with my sliders are probably significantly more susceptible to throwing balls, getting behind, and thus lower confidence. It was intentional, I wanted BB/9 to be comfortably in 3 - 4 range, not in low 3. But if this is too much, I think you want to compromise some walks by increasing pitcher consistency and/or strike frequency.

                2. Yup, I heard they are aware of the problem so the next patch will probably fix this.

                3. Yup, I think this is true. In fact, DaiYoung mentioned this earlier in this thread. So partly to reduce outfield assists and partly to slow down the game a bit (the Show moves a tad quicker than real life IMO), I've been running games at lower fielder speed, arm strength, etc. So far, I haven't been able to reduce outfield assists unfortunately. I think the issue is either base runners test outfield too much or long throws from the outfield are often too accurate. Or both... There is no easy way of changing this aspect of the game.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one noticing this. I just want guys who should be throwing shutouts to throw shutouts.

I'm glad they are aware, they patched it last year. I was surprised it came back.

I agree the fielders are too accurate and I think sometimes the runners try to advance when there is no way they should.

                  Good conversation, thanks.

People always make claims like that (or the opposite).

They do pitch gems often enough though. I've seen 6 CG, low-H games for the last 50 games or so.

hey guys have not been here for a while. i am about 25 games in with my MOM franchise using the Orioles. For some reason I am getting a little bored and looking to change up. So my question is do you guys start a season and run every game for every day? Sounds like a lot of games and would be worried my PS3 would burn out, haha. But that does sound very interesting as i could follow all teams better. Thoughts?

No, that would take forever and you would get nowhere, lol.

I sim games my team isn't involved in. I don't get bored, I'm having a blast. Managing is fun.

Yeah I think for playing through the season it will take too long... But it's sometimes fun to watch "other" games, maybe for scouting purpose. I think it's a good thing to do for a pitcher, because I don't think pitch selection counts too much when a game is simmed...

When I just want to see replays, I play games during my morning routine, before going to work, while preparing dinner, before going to bed, etc., and that way I can run at least 4 games during a day. Then at the end of game I just look at replays, etc.

I lowered it to 3 for manager mode. Still plenty of homers, but more in line with reality than I was seeing with 4.

Have you made any changes since the patch has come out? Without the excess wild pitches I am seeing less run scoring. Any thoughts or ideas? i've been dabbling but haven't had a lot of time lately.
