Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***

went back to these sliders - and knock on wood - Things are playing well through 4, so I just hope that continues.

2-2 so far with the Red Sox.
    L 5 - 4
    W 6 - 0
    L 6 - 2
    W 6 - 3

Batting average is a bit low at .219....so hopefully that will rise, it's obviously a very small sample, so hopefully they'll be some games with BABPIP in my favor (as I'm avg. like 6 K's a game, so I'm getting the ball in play).
Either way what I really want is realistic scoring/results and game variety.....so I hope this will provide that. I'll probably give an update and some numbers after 10 games.

      TNK/Psycho:

Are you guys seeing a normal amount of injuries with the slider set at 6 for games you play?

This is great news. As a hardcore sim fan I also could not see how anyone could use Timing. Just seemed like the easy way out of using traditional batting techniques that would be used in real life situations. However I've come to terms with the fact that I honestly do not have the skill to multitask moving the cursor in the right direction, swinging and making contact often enough to even give me a chance at competing in a game. Having said that I am comfortable with switching strictly to timing so I can solely focus on the location of the pitch and swing if it's good and not swing if it's bad. I can also trust that player ratings will be taken into account and the types of hits i will get will be as a result of such. It reassures me that I won't see the likes of Rajai Davis hitting 53 Homeruns during my franchise mode lol.

I am just glad that it's finally time to start putting all these idiosyncrasies to rest and now focus on what we know is a great baseball game.

Played Game 5 of my Franchise - hoping this game was an aberration.

Came back from down 8-2 heading into the 7th to win 10-9 in 10.
The comeback was cool......the amount of HR's was a bit crazy though.

Cleveland has 6 Hr's against me and I (Red Sox) had 5.
For comparison - I had given up 1 HR the first 4 games and my team had 6 (not too crazy for the Sox).

So hopefully that was unique and doesn't turn into a problem. It's fun to have something like that every now and then....as long as it balances out.

It should balance......I've had games like that and had plenty of games with little offense......you need to play a 15 to 20 game sample to make any observations

Played 2 more games since.....not looking good lol.
May give it more time, but the next game in Cleveland I scored 7 runs with 4 home runs. (3 from Ortiz)
Then the first game of the Yankees series I had 4 home runs and sixteen hits hitting double-digit runs again....and that was while losing interest half way through the game.

It really stinks because I've played a ton of games with the HOF sets and I can't win and it's pure frustration....Everything seems an extreme and I haven't been able to find any in between.
Probably give it a few more games, and if it continues this way I'll have to put the game away, or try to develop my own set since it doesn't seem my "play" matches norms.

Are you using the settings on the first page?

Try dropping power down 1 notch.....give it a couple more games though to amke sure you're not just on a surge

If a person is having trouble pitching (or having too much offense) with these sliders, then it's not the sliders.

The sliders reduce power, and significantly reduce solid hits, while increasing pitching consistency.

Those are three pretty huge bumps to limiting offense.

First let me say TNK & Pyscho great job with your sliders. I enjoy using them and I appreciate that you guys understand its about the long haul and not the short results. I appreciate you guys not changing your sliders every other day.

But I was curious, TNK what happened to your consideration of raising human contact to 7? I remember you posting that a few weeks ago.

                        Thanks for responding TNK.

TNK & Pyscho would you guys be up to make an admended slider set for AAA and AA games? I'd like to play with my minor league teams in my franchise this season. Currently I'm still in spring training, so I have maybe 2 weeks (real life) until those games start. What do you guys think?

                          TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

                          Game #21 of The Season

The Red Sox jumped all over Jered Weaver early in this game on their way to a 7-0 lead. David Ortiz hit a 3-run HR off the LF foul pole in the 2nd inning for the big blow. Jon Lester was very good as the Angels scored their only runs of the game in the 7th inning on a 2-run double by Bobby Abreu. The Angels played poor defense in this one as they committed three errors in the game.

The Red Sox have now won 8 of their last 9 games
Dustin Pedroia has 14 hits in his last 26 AB raising his avg. to .337

Big win for my Braves in last nights game, to take us back to 6-6 and .500 baseball.

Runs in the first innings off ace Josh Johnson as Dan Uggla continues to rip the ball up in the early season for me, his 7th HR already to go with 11 RBI.

Derek Lowe was scuffling a little early but then found his rhythm with the sinker to work 7 solid innings, the usually reliable setup man Jonny Venters then hung a slider for a 2 run bomb to Mike Stanton to level it.

Bottom 8 and Chipper takes a slider low and away (outside of the zone, my love for timing hitting is back) to the left field seats to put us up 5-4, Kimbrel strikes out 2 looking in the 9th to close it out.

Rubber match of this 3 games series tonight before the Mets head into town for 3.

Psycho, I have switched back to timing as well and will give your increases in SH & timing a try. I also want to know your opinion on throwing errors? Seems there have been more post patch and was thinking about lowering by one. I would also recommend giving classic pitching a try, I have had games where my ace was lights out and I have had games where my pitcher couldn't find the strike zone to save his life, enjoying the variety. Timing hitting & classic pitching are perfect for me since I try to get the game as close to sim as possible with very little human interaction. I also use auto fielding, running, and I am back and forth with throwing decisions on or off.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, lol. Injuries don't happen enough it needs to be moved up 1 (that was for someone earlier). Errors happen too often so it needs to be moved down 1.
