    TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ TORONTO BLUE JAYS
GAME #54 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Felix Doubront vs. Henderson Alvarez)

The Red Sox enter play having won just 4 of their last 10 games and send Felix Doubront to the mound against Henderson Alvarez. Adam Lind launched a 413 foot 2-run HR into the upper deck in RF to give Toronto an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. David Ortiz led off hte top of the 2nd inning with an absolute bomb as he crushed a 432 foot solo HR down the RF line to make it a 2-1 game. Kevin Youkilis was up next and he made it back to back HRs as the Red Sox tie it up at 2-2. Mike Aviles made an error on a double play ball in the bottom of the 2nd and the Blue Jays made it hurt as JP Arencibia drove in Colby Rasmus with a sac fly and Toronto had a 3-2 lead after 2 innings. The Red Sox went to work with two outs in the top of the 3rd as they tied the game at 3-3 when Adrian Gonzalez doubled to score Ellsbury from 1st. David Ortiz came up and hit his 2nd HR of the game as he crushed a fastball to CF for a 2-run shot to give the Sox a 5-3 lead. Kevin Youkilis went back to back with Ortiz for the 2nd time in the game as he blasted a fastball from Alvarez 451 feet to straight away CF to make it 6-3. The Jays had two men on with one out in the bottom of the 3rd but Doubront got Lawrie to pop up and struck out Encarnacion with a breaking ball to get out of the jam and we would go to the 4th inning with Boston leading 6-3. Toronto stranded a runner on 2nd base to end the bottom of the 4th and we would go to the 5th inning with the Red Sox leading 6-3. Jacoby Ellsbury led off the top of the 5th with a solo HR to RF to extend the Sox lead to 7-3. Dustin Pedroia followed with a single and Blue Jays skipper John Farrell came out to get Alvarez and brought in Carlos Villanueva in from the pen. Villanueva was welcomed rudely to the game as Adrian Gonzalez hit the Sox 6th HR of the game as he blasted a 441 foot 2-run bomb to CF and the Boston lead was up to 9-3. Ryan Sweeney & Dustin Pedroia added solo HRs in the top of the 6th to extend the Boston lead to 11-3. The Blue Jays showed signs of life as Brett Lawrie and Edwin Encarnacion went back to back in the bottom of the 6th to cut the deficit to 11-5. The Blue Jays continued to chip away in the bottom of the 7th as Jose Bautista took Matt Albers deep for a solo HR to make it 11-6 after 7 innings of play. Rich Hill came in to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston and surrendered a solo HR to Colby Rasmus to cut the Red Sox lead to 4 runs at 11-7 as we would head to the 9th inning. Franklin Morales came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th for Boston and Kelly Johnson led off with a solo HR to pull the Blue Jays within four runs at 12-8. Morales would bounce back and record the final three outs as the Red Sox win a wild on by a score of 12-8.

    * The Red Sox and Blue Jays offenses exploded for 20 runs and 14 HR in the game. I don't ever remember a home run fest like this in at least the last 3 years playing this game. Both teams were crushing the ball and the pitchers were grooving meatballs over the plate.

    * Will Middlebrooks is slumping and his average has dropped to .196

I AM enjoying this thread\following your progress!

Quick question... While using your sliders w/o change, MY offensive is a little too weak. Up the solid hits slider from 3-4 & I'm just a little too strong... Is there another minimal tweak (lowering pitch speed to 3 maybe) that might put me in middle some place?

Can't wait to see your box score tonight ;-)

I don't think solid hits is your answer. If by strong you mean you're hitting it deep then maybe you should try to up the contact 1... MAYBE move the power down 1.

How many times have you updated the sliders on the first page TNK? I quit playing for a while, made my own adjustments so I can't really tell if you've changed anything since. Did you make any changes in the last month?

Look at the very bottom of the OP and you'll see he updated on 5/16. I believe he decreased human and CPU foul frequency by 1. I literally just came on here to check the same thing!

                      TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ TORONTO BLUE JAYS
GAME #55 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Daniel Bard vs. Kyle Drabek)

The Red Sox and Blue Jays play the rubber match of their three game series with Daniel Bard and Kyle Drabek set to take the mound. Drabek issued walks to Pedroia & Ortiz in the top of the 1st but struck out Youkilis to get out of the jam. Bard got Jose Bautista to ground into a 6-4-3 double play to end the bottom of the 1st. Toronto stranded a man at 2nd in the bottom of the 2nd and we were scoreless through two innings of play. Kyle Drabek struck out the side in the top of the 3rd to give him 6 K's and the Red Sox were hitless through 3 innings. Bard pitched around a walk to Arencibia in the bottom of the 3rd and we were scoreless through 3 innings. David Ortiz reached when Brett Lawrie made a wild throw that pulled Encarnacion off the bag at 1st with one out in the top of the 4th but Drabek would strikeout Youkilis and Sweeney to give him 8 K's through 4 innings and the Sox were still without a hit. Bard pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 4th and we would head to the 5th with the score tied 0-0. Drabek struck out Byrd & Shoppach to begin the 5th before Nick Punto blooped a single into LF to break up the no hit bid but got Ellsbury to ground out to end the top of the 5th. David Cooper doubled with one out in the bottom of the 5th but Bard would pitch out of trouble and we would head to the 6th inning with the score locked at 0-0. Drabek picked up 2 more K's to give him 12 strikeouts as he has held the Red Sox to 1 hit through the 1st six innings. The Blue Jays got on the board with one out in the bottom of the 6th on back to back doubles by Kelly Johnson and Jose Bautista with one out. Bard issued a two out walk to Brett Lawrie and Colby Rasmus blew it open with a 3-run HR to RF to give Toronto a 4-0 lead. We would head to the 7th inning with Toronto up 4-0 and Kyle Drabek working on a 1 hit shutout. Drabek pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th and picked up his 13th K to end the inning as he is pitching a gem. Andrew Miller relieved Bard to begin the bottom of the 7th and got Escobar to hit into an inning ending double play to send the game to the 8th inning with the Blue Jays leading 4-0. Kelly Shoppach drew a leadoff walk to begin the 8th and Nick Punto followed with his 2nd hit to give the Sox two men on with no outs. Jacoby Ellsbury would bunt the runners over for the 1st out as the Sox are looking to get on the board and get within striking distance. Dustin Pedroia grounded out to pick up the RBI and make it 4-1. Drabek got Adrian Gonzalez to fly out to end the top of the 8th and will likely be finished as he was over 120 pitches thrown. Kelly Johnson singled to leadoff the bottom of the 8th and stole 2nd base, Boston decided to intentionally walk Bautista with 1st base now open. Brett Lawrie singled up the middle with one out to drive in a run and make it 5-1. Miller got Rasmus to hit into a double play to end the inning and we would head to the 9th with the Red Sox trailing by a score of 5-1. Francisco Cordero enter the game to pitch the 9th inning for Toronto and pitched a 1-2-3 inning as the Blue Jays win 5-1.

                      * Kyle Drabek was phenomenal on the mound for Toronto going 8 innings and holding the Sox to just 2 hits and striking out 13 batters.

                      * The Red Sox punded out 8 HR yesterday and could muster just two singles from Nick Punto today......this game is amazing!!!

                      * The Red Sox get an off day before they return home for a 6 game homestand and will send Jon Lester to the mound to begin a 3 game series with Baltimore

                          TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #56 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Tommy Hunter vs. Jon Lester)

The Red Sox and Orioles begin a 3 game series with Jon Lester and Tommy Hunter set to take the mound. Lester has been struggling badly and is in need of a good start as the Sox have lost 6 of their last 10 games. Lester got off to a strong start as he picked up 3 strikeouts in the 1st inning despite a two out single by Nick Markakis. The Red Sox got on the board in the bottom of the 1st as Pedroia walked with one out and Gonzalez singled. David Ortiz was up next and he lined an RBI single into CF to score Pedroia for a 1-0 lead. Kevin Youkilis followed with a single to load the bases for Jarrod Saltalamacchia and he delivered a sac fly to CF to score Gonzalez from 3rd and make it 2-0. The Orioles loaded the bases with one out in the top of the 2nd for Ryan Flaherty who hit a shallow fly ball to CF that was caught by Ellsbury and Adam Jones was thrown out at the plate to end the inning as he tried to score from 3rd and Lester escapes a major jam. Jacoby Ellsbury drove a solo HR into the monster seats in the bottom of the 2nd to give Boston a 3-0 lead after 2 innings. Baltimore had two men on with two outs in the top of the 3rd but Lester struck out Adam Jones to get out of trouble for his 6th K. Jon Lester pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 4th and picked up two more strikeouts to give him 8 K's through 4 innings of work on the mound. Jarrod Saltalamacchia led off the bottom of the 4th with a solo HR into the monster seats to push the Sox lead to 4-0. Lester continued to roll as he pitched another 1-2-3 frame in the top of the 5th. Hunter beaned Dustin Pedroia up high in the back to begin the bottom of the 5th and Buck Showalter had seen enough and called in Troy Patton from the bullpen. Patton got through the inning unscathed and we would move to the 6th with Boston leading 4-0. The Orioles had runners at the corners with one out in the top of the 6th but Lester made a great pitch to get Chris Davis to hit into the inning ending double play and keep the score 4-0. Patton struck out Aviles with a man in scoring position to end the 6th and we would go to the 7th with the Red Sox on top 4-0. Lester picked up his 9th strikout of the game as he pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th. Darren O'Day pitched the bottom of the 7th for Baltimore and we would head to the 8th inning with the Sox leading 4-0. Lester remained in the game for the 8th and picked up two more K's to give him 11 strikeouts as he pitched another 1-2-3 inning. Luis Ayala came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th and delivered a 1-2-3 inning to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston holding a 4-0 lead. Jon Lester remained in the game for the 9th looking to finish off the complete game shutout having thrown 107 pitches over the 1st 8 innings of work. Lester picked up his 12th K as he fanned Mark Reynolds for the 1st out. Adam Jones singled to LF to give the O's a base runner. Chris Davis was up next and he grounded into a fielders choice as Jones was out at 2nd base and the Orioles were down to their final out. Lester was 1 strike away from ending the game when Nolan Reimold singled to LF to keep the game alive. Boston pitching coach made a visit to the mound to give Lester a pep talk as closer Alfredo Aceves was warming in the pen but the Sox stuck with Lester who was up to 120 pitches. Lester got Matt Wieters to fly out to Ellsbury in CF for the final out as the Red Sox win 4-0 and Lester gets the complete game shutout.

                          * Jon Lester entered the game with an ERA of 7.36 in his previous 4 starts as he had been struggling big time. Lester rebounded with a fantastic performance as he pitched a complete game shutout and struck out 12 batters while walking just 1. The Red Sox need Lester to get on track if they are gonna make a push for the playoffs.

                          * Adrian Gonzalez went 3 for 4 to raise his average to .309 on the season

                          * Mike Aviles was 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts and is in a massive slump at the plate as he is hitting just .086 over his last 10 games and has seen his average drop to .236 on the season.

Yeah - I had a walk and single to start the inning, bunted the runners over and then got a groundout to score the run.

I knew I was gonna get mowed down after the offensive eplosion the previous game

I have used these sliders for two years and greatly appreciate them as well as enjoy them. KUTGW. Certain things happen during the games of the season but one can just account them as to that's how baseball goes sometimes. I Would like my wins to be down some but, every one of them feels earned. Which is okay with me since it's enjoyable enough but still losing at times and always receiving a challenge from the AI. Only things I would like to do a little better is strike the computer out more as well as increase my AVG with certain players. I get a great variety of outcomes. I have won games 10-2,9-1, 2-1, and have had losses vary 2-11, 1-5, 0-3, 5-7. etc.

                              GAME NOTES
Angel Pagan currently on 15 day DL
Madison Bumgarner had perfect game through 5inn
Melky Cabrera and Joaquin Arias tagged a couple balls and were only rewarded with some big league hang with 'ems.
Lineup adjusted to LHP, however Crawford was fatigued as well as Theriot so Arias was @ SS, as i like to use Pill in LF (for now, he kills me sometimes) Posey @ 1B and Sanchez in the squat so i can have a few more right handed bats in the lineup

                                TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #57 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Jake Arrieta vs. Josh Beckett)

The Red Sox and Orioles play game 2 of this 3 game series as Jake Arrieta and Josh Beckett face each other on the mound. The Orioles got off to a quick start as they had runners at the corners with one out and Adam Jones hit a sac fly to RF to score Reimold and give the O's a 1-0 lead. Jake Arrieta was perfect through 3 innings as the Red Sox went 9 up 9 down and we would head to the 4th inning with Baltimore leading 1-0. The Orioles had two men on in the top of the 4th but Beckett came up with a big strikeout of Chris Davis to end the inning. Dustin Pedroia drew a walk with one out in the 4th to give Boston their 1st baserunner but he would be caught stealing at 2nd base to end the inning and Arietta had a no hitter through 4 innings as we would head to the 5th with the score still 1-0. Beckett was pitching well and delivered a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 5th. Arrieta pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 5th as the Red Sox were hitless through 5 and we would head to the 6th inning with Baltimore leading 1-0. The Orioles had two men on with two outs in the top of the 6th and Mark Reynolds delivered an RBI single to LF to make it a 2-0 game. Beckett would get Chris Davis to ground out to end the inning and we would head to the bottom of the 6th with the Orioles up 2-0 and Jake Arrieta working on a no hit bid. Marlon Byrd broke up the no hitter and the shutout with one out in the bottom of the 6th as he stayed back on a curveball from Arrieta and drove it into the monster seats for a solo HR to make it a 2-1 game heading into the 7th inning. Josh Beckett struck out the side in the top of the 7th in a dominant inning of work on the mound to keep the score 2-1. Dustin Pedroia struck out to begin the bottom of the 7th but reached base as Matt Weiters threw the ball away on the dropped 3rd strike. Buck Showalter made his way out of the dugout and removed Arrieta who was tiring despite the fact that he had allowed just 1 hit and brought in Pedro Strop from the bullpen. Adrian Gonzalez roped a pitch from Strop towards the gap but he was robbed on a beautiful diving catch by Markakis in RF. David Ortiz ripped a line drive that was caught by Andino at 2nd base and then Kevin Youkilis flew out to the warning track in CF as Strop gave up 3 very hard hit balls that all resulted in outs and we would head to the 8th inning with Baltimore holding on to a 2-1 lead. JJ Hardy led off the 8th with a triple off of Beckett and Bobby Valentine would make the move to lefty Rich Hill to face Nick Markakis. Baltimore would take a 3-1 lead when Markakis singled to LF and Hill would leave after facing one batter as Vicente Padilla came in from the pen. Matt Wieters would double with one out to give the Orioles runners at 2nd & 3rd. Padilla would intentionally walk Mark Reynolds to load the bases as Boston was looking for a double play. Valentine would turn to his 4th pitcher of the inning as he brought in lefty Franklin Morales to face Chris Davis and Morales would get Davis to ground into a huge 3-6-1 double play to get out of the inning and keep the score at 3-1. Kevin Gregg would come in to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Baltimore and pitched a 1-2-3 inning as the Red Sox offense has mustered just one hit through 8 innings and we would go to the 9th with the Orioles leading 3-1. The Orioles had two men on with one out in the top of the 9th as Morales was having serious control issues and JJ Hardy doubled off the monster to add an insurance run and make it 4-1. Morales would intentionally walk Markakis to load the bases in hope of another double play and Boston would bring in their closer Alfredo Aceves to face Adam Jones in a huge spot. Jones grounded to Youkilis at 3rd who came home for the 1st out but Saltalamacchia air mailed his throw to 1st base that would have ended the inning and that allowed Reimold to score making it 5-1. The Red Sox would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing by 4 runs and with just one hit on the night. Kevin Gregg remained on the mound for the bottom of the 9th for Baltimore and retired the side in order as the Orioles beat the Red Sox by a score of 5-1 behind a masterful performance from Jake Arrieta.

                                * Pathetic offensive performance from the Red Sox as they muster just one hit in the game off of Jake Arrieta and the Baltimore bullpen. The Red Sox have now been 2 hit by Kyle Drabek and 1 hit by Jake Arrieta in the last few days as the offense has been horrendous of late.

                                * The Red Sox and Orioles will play the rubber match of this 3 game series tomorrow as the Orioles will send Wei-Yin Chen to the mound against Clay Buchholz for Boston
