Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

    hi TNK,
i like the sliders but the problem i'm having is mainly my only hits are HRs. I do use the texas Rangers and my last game i won 3-0 with just a couple of homers, should something be adjusted or shall i give it time, i have really only done a few games just seems to be home runs or outs
    thanks

Give it atleast 10 games........I have been mowed down my last few games, I was two hit by Kyle Drabek and one hit by Jake Arrieta....it's part of the ebb and flow of the season.

        TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #58 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Wei-Yin Chen vs. Clay Buchholz)

The Red Sox and Orioles play the rubber match of this 3 game series as Wei-Yin Chen opposes Clay Buchholz on the mound. The game was scoreless in the top of the 2nd when the Orioles got back to back singles to open the inning from Jones and Wieters to give them runners at the corners with nobody out. Buchholz wiggled out of trouble though as he got Mark Reynolds to pop out in foul ground for the 1st out, struck out Chris Davis for the 2nd out and Wilson Betemit lined out to Youkilis at 1st base for the final out to keep the game scoreless. Chen got Will Middlebrooks to hit into a 5-4-3 double play to end the top of the 2nd with the score tied 0-0. Darnell McDonald got the Red Sox 1st hit of the game with a one out single in the bottom of the 3rd but Marlon Byrd would hit into a double play to end the inning and we would head to the 4th inning still scoreless 0-0. The Orioles had runners at 2nd & 3rd with nobody out to start the top of the 4th and Matt Wieters would draw an 8 pitch walk to load the bases for Mark Reynolds with nobody out. Reynolds hit a groundball to Youkilis at 1st base and he came home for the out to keep the run from scoring and that would bring up Chris Davis with one out and the bases still loaded. Davis hit a sac fly to LF for an RBI as Adam Jones would beat the throw home from McDonald to give the O's a 1-0 lead. Buchholz would strike out Wilson Betemit for the final out to escape the inning with just one run allowed. Chen pitched around a single by Adrian Gonzalez in the bottom of the 4th and we would go to the 5th inning with Baltimore leading 1-0. Buchholz pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 5th. The Red Sox took the lead in the bottom of the 5th as Kevin Youkilis led off with a single and Chen hung a curveball to Will Middlebrooks who crushed it 426 feet to CF for a 2-run HR to put the Sox ahead 2-1. The Orioles got a single from Jones and Wieters drew a walk to give them two men on with one out in the top of the 6th. Buchholz struck out Mark Reynolds for the 2nd out and got Chris Davis to fly out to LF as Buchholz pitches out of another jam to keep his team in the lead at 2-1. The Red Sox got an RBI single from David Ortiz in the bottom of the 6th to make it a 3-1 game and Darren O'Day would come in to relieve Chen with two men on and only one out. Kevin Youkilis was up next and he lined an RBI single into CF to score Gonzalez and make it 4-1. Will Middelbrooks would single to LF and Ortiz would be held at 3rd base to load the bases. O'Day struck out Saltalamacchia for the 2nd out and McDonald would fly out to RF to end the inning and the Red Sox had a 4-1 lead after 6 innings of play. Buchholz remained in the game for the top of the 7th and got Nolan Reimold to ground into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning and finish his day on the mound as he was over 100 pitches. Luis Ayala pitched the bottom of the 7th for Baltimore. Vicente Padilla relieved Buchholz to begin the 8th and pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Adrian Gonzalez led off the bottom of the 8th with a triple as he hit a fly ball high off the green monster that bounced away from Adam Jones as Gonzalez made it all the way to 3rd base. Gonzalez would come in to score an insurance run on a sac fly by Middlebrooks to make it 5-1. Boston closer Alfredo Aceves would come in with a 4 run lead to pitch the top of the 9th. Matt Wieters led off with a single but Aceves would come back to get Reynolds to pop out and strikeout Davis and Betemit to end the game as the Red Sox win 5-1.

        * The Red Sox take 2 out of 3 from the Orioles and will begin a stretch of 15 interleague games with a 3 game set at Fenway against the Washington Nationals.

        * Clay Buchholz pitched out of danger multiple times as he was having control problems early and the Orioles failed to come up with hits and stranded a small village on the basepaths.

        * Adrian Gonzalez went 3 for 4 to rasie his average to .313 on the season. Gonzalez has been hot of late as he has hit .394 with 1 HR and 9 RBI in his last 10 games.

        * Will Middlebrooks busted out of his slump by going 2 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI in the game

I am liking these sliders a lot. Just finished playing Detroit(me) vs. Cleveland. I was shutout and 3 hit by Derek Lowe lost 2-0. Might need to boost the hitting for me because of my lack of skill or maybe Lowe was just dealing

Do not make any changes until you play a minimum of 10 games

If you need to boost your offense - raise your contact and power by 1 click, then play 5 to 10 more games, then adjust accordingly......never adjust more than 1 click though

1st of all - NEVER USE POWER SWING, ony swing normal with X.....what hitting mechanic are you using? Timing? Zone?

Don't touch Solid Hits - if anything, reduce POWER and increase CONTACT

                  hi,
yer i only use X, i just did a game with default sliders for the hitting part and lost 10-3 and my 3 runs were all rbi no HR seemed ok, why not increase solid hits. i worry if i raise contact up to 7 that will seem very high, o and i use zone!!!!!

If you liked the feel of the Default sliders, what's wrong with using those and comparing?

Though, The Rangers will hit a ton of homers regardless. LOL!

For those of you struggling to find your sweet spot, you really should listen to TNK's advice. You need to play a good number of games to get a comparison. This game plays that realistic. And yes, only adjust +1 or -1 at a time, and definitely do not touch solid hits. Everything goes out of whack if you do. Trust me, I tried it pre-season.

What worked for me was to start with TNK's current slider set, and then I created a season and played 25 games. The only numbers I adjusted were contact, power or timing every 5 games or so. After 25 games I found for my personal skill set, the only thing I needed to adjust was a +1 to contact. I then started a new season that I intend to play out. I'm currently 17 games in (10-7 using the Tigers) and my statistics look amazing. Batting average, hits, HR's etc all look very realistic, though Cabrera is off to a dismal start only hitting .204 with 1 HR at this point. But he's a veteran and I know he'll get his numbers by seasons end. I've had blowout wins, blow out losses, 1 run games, come back games both for and against, extra inning games, etc... I've had both winning and losing streaks, games with 15+ hits and games with 2 hits. These sliders are amazing and at most will need only a very minor adjustment to your own personal skill set.

I read it that way too, TNK. Until I thought about it a sec...

I think he meant to say, "Why should I NOT touch Solid Hits." (You told him this in your previous post). NOT, "TNK, you should adjust Solid Hits."

                          See what I'm saying?

He asked you a question; he didn't make a suggestion.

I think he meant to say, "Why should I NOT touch Solid Hits." (You told him this in your previous post). NOT, "TNK, you should adjust Solid Hits."

He asked you a question; he didn't make a suggestion.

                              TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

WASHINGTON NATIONALS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #59 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Jordan Zimmerman vs. Felix Doubront)

The Red Sox begin a 3 game interlague series with the Nationals at Fenway Park as Washington send Jordan Zimmerman to the mound to face Felix Doubront for Boston. The game was scoreless in the top of the 2nd when Bryce Harper doubled with one out but Doubront would pitch out of troub le and strike out Wilson Ramos to end the threat. Jordan Zimmerman was sharp early and the game would go to the 3rd inning with no score 0-0. Danny Espinosa opened the scoring with one out in the top of the 3rd as he blasted a fastball from Doubront into the monster seats for a solo HR to give Washington a 1-0 lead. Jordan Zimmerman was in a groove on the mound retiring the first 12 Red Sox batters he faced as he was perfect through 4 innings with 8 strikeouts and we would head to the 5th with the Nationals up 1-0. Doubront got Xavier Nady to ground into a double play to end the top of the 5th. Kevin Youkilis led off the bottom of the 5th with a double into the triangle in CF but Zimmerman would pick up two more strikeouts and the 5th inning would end with Washington still leading 1-0. Doubront would pitch a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 6th as he was giving the Red Sox a very good start on the mound. The Sox went quietly in the bottom of the 6th as Zimmerman put together another 1-2-3 inning as he has held Boston to just 1 baserunner through 6 innings with the Nationals leading 1-0. Zimmerman retired the side in order again in the bottom of the 7th and we would head to the 8th with Washington leading 1-0. Felix Doubront was tiring and issued a pair of one out walks in the top of the 8th causing Sox manger Bobby Valentine to bring in Franklin Morales from the pen. Morales would get Ian Desmond and Roger Bernadina to fly out to end the threat and keep the score 1-0 with the Sox coming up in the bottom of the 8th. David Ortiz led off the bottom of the 8th and just missed a game tying HR as he took a fastball from Zimmerman off the top of the wall in front of the bullpens in RF and ended up on 2nd base with a leadoff double. Darnell McDonald would pinch run for Ortiz and Nationals skipper Davey Johnson would bring in Tyler Clippard from the bullpen. Jarrod Saltalamacchia bunted McDonald over to 3rd base as the Sox were looking to tie the game up. Ryan Sweeney came up and hit a fly ball to shallow RF that was caught by Jason Werth and his throw home nailed McDonald on a bang bang play at the plate as the Red Sox squander a golden opportunity to tie the game and we would head to the 9th inning with Washington holding on to a 1-0 lead. Franklin Morales remained in the game and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th to send the game to the bottom of the 9th with the Red Sox looking for some magic. The Nationals would go to their closer Drew Storen looking to slam the door and close it out. Storen struck out Marlon Byrd to leadoff the inning. Will Middlebrooks would pinch hit for Mike Aviles and he grounded out and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Storen got Jacoby Ellsbury to fly out to end the game and the Nationals win this one by a score of 1-0 for their 4th straight victory.

                              * What a pitching duel this game saw as Jordan Zimmerman and Felix Doubront were both terrific. The Red Sox managed just two hits in the defeat and the Nationals won the game despite managing just four hits with the Espinosa solo HR being the key blow.

                              * The Red Sox offense has been ridiculously inconsistent lately. They have a decent game and then they get mowed down the next game, then they have a decent game and then they can't get anything going the follwing game.

                              * The Red Sox have been playing inconsistent baseball as they have gone 10-11 over their last 21 games and are currently 3 games back of the 1st place Yankees in the AL East.

                              * Red Sox OF Cody Ross was activated from the DL after the game and Darnell McDonald was sent to AAA Pawtucket to make room on the 25 man roster.

                              * The Red Sox sent SP Daniel Bard down to AAA Pawtucket to work on his mechanics and Daisuke Matsuzaka who has been coming back from Tommy John surgery last season will take his place in the rotation and make his 2012 debut in tomorrows game.

RockHopper... Your ONLY adjustment is contact @ 7? 7 for the AI, too?

                                Thanks...
