Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Throwing walks as the user is an inexact science....it will never be perfect.
You need to pitch on the edges and be willing to throw balls and/or pitch around guys.
I had 6 walks with Jon Lester in one game a couple days ago.....the times where I don't throw many walks is when I am putting the ball too far over the plate.Comment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Try HOF pitching with CPU contact at 5 and Human pitcher consistency at 5 everything else the same as TNK's sliders. I found all-star to be too easy but HOF too hard using TNK sliders that's why I put those settings at default. Through 15 games my ERA is in the 3.60 range with the Angels and 6.5 k/9 and 3 bb/9. On that difficulty level you really have to work to keep your walks down.Comment

I struck out alot. Hanson has a mean 12-6 curve, or maybe I just suck -___-
Anyways, things were good even though I couldn't get a run home. Had the bases loaded at one point, but obviously stranded all of them. Had a runner on second, but stranded him. I've been playing a ton of MLB 2K12 so maybe thats why I can't hit, but I managed to hang in there pitching wise.Until the 9th. McCann hit a solo homerun in the 4th.Comment

TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
BOSTON RED SOX @ OAKLAND ATHLETICS
GAME #82 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Josh Beckett vs. Brandon McCarthy)
The Red Sox kickoff the 2nd half of their season as they look to complete the 3 game sweep of Oakland with Josh Beckett on the mound against Brandon McCarthy in the series finale. The Red Sox came out swinging in the top of the 1st as the 1st 4 batters of the game had hits and they grabbed a quick 2-0 lead. Boston got a two out RBI double from Saltalamacchia to make it 3-0 and Ryan Sweeney followed with a triple to make it 4-0 in the top of the 3rd. Beckett was sharp early and the Red Sox had a 4-0 lead entering the 5th. Jarrod Saltalamacchia blasted a 2-run HR in the top of the 5th to give the Red Sox a commanding 6-0 lead. Josh Beckett was cruising as Oakland had just two hits through 7 innings and we would go to the 8th with the Red Sox leading 6-0. Beckett pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 8th and we would head to the 9th inning with Boston up 6-0. The A's would come up in the bottom of the 9th trailing 6-0 as Beckett looks to record the final 3 outs. Jemile Weeks led off the bottom of the 9th with a single to snap a string of 10 straight that Beckett had sat down. Beckett would get the final 3 outs as he got Seth Smith to ground into a game ending 4-6-3 double play to finish off a 3 hit complete game shutout as the Red Sox win 6-0.
* The Red Sox have won 6 straight games as they complete the 3 game sweep of the A's. Boston will enoy an off day before returning home to Fenway for a huge 3 game series with their arch rival New York Yankees as the Red Sox trail the Yankees by 1 game for 1st place in the AL East
* Josh Beckett was dominant as he pitched a complete game 3 hit shutout
* Adrian Gonzalez went 2 for 4 to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

NEW YORK YANKEES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #83 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Ivan Nova vs. Clay Buchholz)
The Red Sox and Yankees begin a pivtoal 3 game series at Fenway as the Yankees have a 1 game lead in the AL East over the Red Sox. Ivan Nova bring his 9-1 record into the game against Clay Buchholz who is 8-3 for Boston in a great pitching matchup for the opener. The Yankees used 5 hits in the top of the 2nd to push across a couple runs and they had a 2-0 lead after 2 innings of play. Brett Gardner added an RBI double to make it 4-0. The Sox got a run back in the bottom of the 4th as Adrian Gonzalez led off with a double and came in to score on a sac fly by Middlebrooks to cut the Yankees lead to 4-1 heading into the 5th inning. Buchholz settled in and finished his night by getting Alex Rodriguez to bounce into a double play to end the top of the 7th with New York still leading 4-1. The Red Sox had two men on with one out in the bottom of the 7th but Nova would get out of the inning with the help of his defense as Mike Aviles lined out for the 2nd out and Jacoby Ellsbury scorched a liner up the middle that bounced off Nova and went to Teixeira at 1st base who made a great throw to 2nd base to just beat the runner for the force out to end the inning and send the game to the 8th inning with the Yankees holding a 4-1 lead. Vicente Padilla came on to pitch the top of the 8th and surrendered a solo HR to Mark Teixeira to extend the Yankees lead to 5-1. David Robertson pitched the bottom of the 8th for New York and we would go to the 9th inning with the Yankees leading by a score of 5-1. Padilla retired the Yankees in order in the top of the 9th and the Red Sox would come up in the bottom of the 9th trailing 5-1. David Robertson remained in the game to begin the bottom of the 9th and issued a leadoff walk to Saltalamacchia. Cody Ross was up next and he ripped a shot in the hole but Alex Rodriguez made a great diving stop to start a 5-4-3 double play and the Sox were down to their last out. Ryan Sweeney kept the game alive with a single. Ryan Kalish would pinch hit for Aviles and he drew a walk to give Boston two men on with two outs. Recently acquired Chad Qualls would come in from the bullpen looking to record the final out and Jacoby Ellsbury would line a single up the middle to score Sweeney and make it 5-2. Boone Logan would relieve Qualls as the Red Sox would bring the tying run to the plate but Logan would strike out Dustin Padroia after a grueling 9 pitch at bat and the Yankees win 5-2.
* The Red Sox have their 6 game winning streak snapped as the Yankees take the opener of the series 5-2. The Red Sox now trail the Yankees by 2 games in the AL East
* Ivan Nova was excellent for New York as he improved his record to 10-1 on the season.
* Adrian Gonzalez went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. Gonzalez is now hitting .353 on the season
* Nick Swisher went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI to increase his AL leading average to .370 on the season

Just had AJ Burnett walk the bases loaded against me...
Oh, and remember Soto's 5 BB game? He followed that up with a 5-5 game, and drew the first of Burnett's walks in this current game. He hasn't been retired in at least his last 11 AB's, perhaps more!
Cubs are hot lol!

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
NEW YORK YANKEES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #84 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Phil Hughes vs. Aaron Cook)
The Yankees enter the game with a two game lead over the Red Sox in the AL East as it will be Phil Hughes and Aaron Cook on the mound. New York jmped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st on a 413 foot solo HR to CF by Alex Rodriguez. Phil Hughes was very good early as he had 5 strikeouts in the 1st two innings and we would go to the 3rd with New York leading 1-0. The Yankees caught some bad luck in the bottom of the 3rd as Hughes recorded the 1st two outs before grabbing his arm after a pitch and he was forced to elave the game with an injury, Freddy Garcia came in from the pen and got the last out as the Red Sox were still hitless and we would go to the 4th inning with the Yankees up 1-0. The Yankees strung together 3 straight groundball singles with one out in the top of the 5th as Derek Jeter's RBI single to make it 2-0. Curtis Granderson just beat out a double play that would have ended the inning which allowed a run to score to make it 3-0. Jarrod Saltalamacchia doubled to leadoff the bottom of the 5th but the Red Sox were unable to get a run and he would head to the 6th with new York leading 3-0. Mike Aviles led off the bottom of the 6th with a double off the green monster and he would come in to score on a sac fly by Dustin Pedroia to get the Red Sox on the board and we would go the 7th inning with the Yankees leading by a score of 3-1. Aaron Cook finished off his day with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th to cap off a solid outing. Cody Eppley came on from the New York bullpen to pitch the bottom of the 7th and pitched a 1-2-3 inning to send the game to the 8th with the score still 3-1. Franklin Morales pitched a scoreless top of the 8th for Boston to keep it a 3-1 game. Clay Rapada pitched around a single by Sweeney in the bottom of the 8th to send it to the 9th inning with New York holding on to a 3-1 lead. Franklin Morales and Mark Melancon combined to keep the Yankees off the board in the top of the 9th and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with the Yankees looking to close it out with a 3-1 lead. The Red Sox were down to their final at bat as Yankees closer Rafael Soriano came on looking to record the save with a two run lead. Soriano recorded the 1st two outs before David Ortiz singled to keep the Red Sox alive and bring the tying run to the plate. Jarrod Saltalamacchia followed with a single to bring up Will Middlebrooks with two men on and two outs. Soriano hung in there and struck out Middlebrooks to end the game and pickup the save as the Yankees win 3-1.
* The Yankees have taken the 1st two games of the series to extend their lead in the AL East to 3 games over the Red Sox.
* Adrian Gonzalez 12 game hitting streak was snapped as he went 0 for 4 in the game.
* Phil Hughes left the game with an injury in the 3rd inning but will only be out for a few days with a Strained Tricep as the Yankees dodge a major bullet.

Some good baseball in the Twin City. The stadium was filled to 49% of its maximum capacity. Scheduled first pitch: 7:05pm.
Umpires were: HP: Knight Marvin and that's all that matters. Knight Marvin had a huge strike zone. It wasn't extremely big, but he was calling strikes that were at least a couple ball lengths off of the plate. At least he was consistent, but in a 2-1 count, a missed call makes it 2-2, instead of 3-1. This happened A LOT. But hey, a strike is a strike. I just could not score runs to save my life. Still a fun game. I like using bold font.
I posted strike percentages for both teams in the box scores, so check that out. First pitch strike percentage was 50% for the A's. I did not record my teams first pitch strikes, so I can not give you that number.
Fun game, but I think I lost because I'm a newb.
Time of game: 1hr. 8min.Comment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Well im here to say that i have tried another slider set and thought it was going to be for me. However, after my last game i played i realized that it wont work long term.
So I'm here to give these more offensive prowess sliders a try. Plus these sliders doint have the fielder reaction time jacked up to almost full.
So starting in my sixth game of the season these will be my full time sliders... they do play ok for Veteran level too right???"Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
NEW YORK YANKEES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #85 of the season (Pitching Matchup - David Phelps vs. Daisuke Matsuzaka)
The Yankees look to sweep the three game series at Fenway Park as David Phelps gets the start against Daisuke Matsuzaka. Adrian Gonzalez gave the Sox a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a solo HR into the RF bullpens. The Yankees were threatening in the top of the 3rd with Gardner on 2nd base and one out when Derek Jeter lined a single to LF but Cody Ross made a perfect throw to the plate to nail the speedy Gardner at home. Curtis Granderson was up next and he drilled a 2-run HR to RF to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead. The Red Sox answered right back in the bottom of the 3rd as Dustin Pedroia lined a ball into the gap for a two run double to give Boston a 3-2 lead after 3 innings of play. The Red Sox got a leadoff double by Saltalamacchia to begin the bottom of the 4th and the slumping Will Middlebrooks followed with an RBI double down the LF line to make it 4-2. Matsuzaka and Phelps each pitched 1-2-3 innings in the 5th and the game would go to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-2. Matsuzaka overcame an error by Pedroia in the top of the 6th and the score would remain 4-2. Boone logan pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 6th and we would go to the 7th inning with the Red Sox on top 4-2. Andrew Miller would relieve Matsuzaka with one out in the top of the 7th and Raul Ibanez would welcome him with an RBI double to cut the Sox lead to 4-3. Miller gave up another RBI double to Brett Gardner with two outs and the game was suddenly tied 4-4. Scott Atchison would come in and get Jeter to ground out to end the inning and we were tied 4-4. Logan retired the side in order in the bottom of the 7th and we would move to the 8th inning locked in a 4-4 tie. Atchison got Alex Rodriguez to hit into a huge double play in the top of the 8th and got Cano to fly out to end the inning and keep the game tied. Logan put up another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 8th as he has been dominant out of the pen for the Yankees and we would head to the 9th tied 4-4. Atchison pitched a perfect top of the 9th and struck out Ibanez looking at a changeup on the outside corner to give the Sox a chance to win it in the bottom of the 9th. David Robertson came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th got the 1st two outs before allowing a two out single to Middlebrooks but the slumping Cody Ross would ground out to end the inning and send the game to extra innings. Mark Melancon pitched a perfect top of the 10th for Boston to keep the score tied 4-4. Nick Punto lined a single to CF with one out in the bottom of the 10th and Boston had the possible winning run on base with the top of the order coming up. The Red Sox botched a hit and run and Punto was thrown out trying to steal 2nd base for the 2nd out. Jacoby Ellsbury beat out an infield single and stole 2nd base to get into scoring position but Chad Qualls would strike out Pedroia to send the game to the 11th inning. Franklin Morales retired Granderson, Rodrgiuez and Cano in order as he pitched an outstanding top of the 11th. Chad Qualls sat the Red Sox down in order in the bottom of the 11th and the game would go to the 12th still tied 4-4. Morales pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 12th. Andruw Jones led off the top of the 13th with a pinch hit single off Boston closer Alfredo Aceves and moved up to 2nd on a sac bunt by Gardner. Aceves got Jeter to ground out for the 2nd out and then Granderson drew a walk to give New York two men on for A-Rod. Aceves got Rodriguez to ground out to end the inning and keep the score tied 4-4. The Red Sox went quietly in the bottom of the 13th and on to the 14th inning we go. Mark Teixeira singled off Aceves with one out in the top of the 14th and was pinch run for by Jayson Nix but Aceves would get the final two outs to keep the score locked at 4-4. Qualls remained in for his 4th inning of work and pitched another 1-2-3 inning to send the game to the 15th as both bullpens have been tremendous in this game. Aceves remained in the game and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 15th. Cody Eppley came on to pitch for New York and struck out Will Middlebrooks to begin the inning. Cody Ross was up next and came up to the plate in a mega slump as he was 0 for 5 in the game and his average had dipped below .200 on the season. Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine was tempted to pinch hit for the struggling left fielder but stuck with him and Ross swung out of his shoes on the first pitch he saw from Eppley as he left a slider up in the zone and right over the plate and Ross crushed a no doubt bomb as he drove the ball high into the night in LF as it cleared the signs over the green monster for a walkoff HR to give the Red Sox their biggest win of the season as they avoid the sweep and enter the All-Star break with a 5-4 victory in 15 innings........WHAT A GAME!!!!!
* The Red Sox avoid the 3 game sweep with a huge 5-4 extra innings victory to pull themelves within 2 games of the 1st place Yankees at the All-Star break
* Cody Ross has been god awful all season and was in the midst of a terrible slump before his biggest hit in a Red Sox uniform as he crushed a walkoff HR to win the game. Ross is hitting .201 on the season with just 4 HR and 13 RBI in what has been a rough first season in Boston and he will need to be better after the All-Star break if he wants to remain in the lineup.
* The homeplate umpire in this game was complete garbage as their were two different strike zones for each team. The Red Sox pitchers were making soem terrfiic pitches that caught plenty of the plate and were called balls while the Yankees hurlers were throwing balls well off the plate that were called strikes. It got to the point that I actually started yelling at the TV - IT WAS THAT BAD!!!!
* The bullpens for both teams in this game were fantastic as it seemed like this game would go on forever
* The Red Sox will lineup will be getting a boost soon as Carl Crawford is close to returning to the team following the All-Star break after missing the first 85 games of the season. Crawford should be back in the next week or two
* Felix Doubront is set to return from the DL after the All-Star break and the team will send Daisuke Matsuzaka down to AAA for the time being
