Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

I played one of the sickest games last night so I decided to create an account to give mad props to TNK for these sliders. I've owned the Show before but never played franchise mode. I was getting frustrated on the default settings and found your sliders.

I've played 18 games with these sliders and I did have to make an adjustment to CPU pitching because I suck at hitting. I use timing hitting and I bumped down the Consistency and Strike frequency one each. I found that this definitely helped me to get into more hitters counts and draw a few more walks (I have a pretty bad eye and swing at a lot of balls). I did compensate with bumping the pitching to HOF so it seems to have balanced out. 9 games into a franchise with the Rockies and I'm at .261avg/4.5rpg and a 4.25 era.

Anyways, back to why I actually wanted to post in the first place. So it was game 9 of my franchise and I was looking to avoid the sweep against the Dbacks. Nicasio was pitching great and going into the top of the 6th I had 4-0 lead thanks to 3 D.Fowler rbi's. The dbacks promptly get 2 guys on and then J.Upton crushes one to deep left. The next inning R.Roberts crushes a solo shot and the game is tied 4-4 into the bottom of the 7th. Arizona brings in a side arm pitcher and he is killing me, 4k's in 2innings. Scoreless innings the next two and we are into the bottom of the ninth with the sidearm guy still in there. Cuddyer leads off and gets a blooper that drops in between the first baseman and right fielder, the ball kind of bounces away from the outfielder and it turns into a double. Next up, T.Helton and his massive .150 avg. He quickly gets ahead 2-0 and is looking for a pitch to hit witch the pitcher obliges throwing a fastball into his wheelhouse which he crushes for a 2-run shot and the game winner! Probably the most fun I've had playing a sports game in while.

Sorry for the long post but I thought this was a pretty awesome game and the sliders definitely make this game way more realistic. I've seen some people question extra base hits with solid hits down to 3. I think that setting is perfect. I have 81 hits thru 9 games with 16-2B, 4-3B, 8-HR which is almost exactly the league average in proportions.

Woot, Cody Ross ended the power drought, followed by Papi, Salty, and we are starting to get into a flow. Thanks!

        hey,
having been using these sliders for a while i felt for me the only adjustments i needed to adjust was
        fielder reaction 4
        power 4

everything else i have left to TNKs

what have other ppl adjusted to suit them?

Can't speak for TNK, but during MY KC franchise my stats were right on par with yours...

I raised human & computer contact one click (7) & lowered human consistency one click (3) & it's made a world of difference.

In 73 games played so far this season using these sliders, this game was by far the most fun one. Absolute slugfest all around. Had a great time.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

well, after about 5 different attempts at starting a franchise (each going about 10 games or so), I've had it (for now). Granted, I've used the Orioles and Rockies for 4 of those 5 franchises so what should I expect other than failure, I suppose. But the Reds? I figured I'd hold my own.

While I'm glad that so many here find these sliders to be the standard and have achieved the perfect balance with them I wish that I could say the same. TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

ATLANTA BRAVES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #71 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Tommy Hanson vs. Jon Lester)

                  TRADE NEWS
The Red Sox traded 3B Kevin Youkilis to the Chicago White Sox for SP Zach Stewart and OF Brett Lillibridge. Will Middlebrooks will take over as the starting 3rd baseman for Boston and Lillibridge will fill a bench role while Stewart will go to AAA Pawtucket

The Red Sox and Braves kickoff a three game series at Fenway with Timmy Hanson opposing Jon Lester on the mound. Chipper Jones gave the Braves a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd as he blasted a HR over the green monster. Boston loaded the bases in the bottom of the 2nd with one out and Jacoby Ellsbury delivered an RBI single but Mike Aviles was caught after a miscue on the basepaths for the 2nd out and Hanson would get Pedroia to popout to end the inning and we would move to the 3rd inning tied 1-1. Jon Lester struck out the side in the top of the 3rd and has struck out 5 straight Braves hitters. Lester retired the side in order again in the top of the 5th making it 11 straight hitters he has set down and he has held the Braves to just one hit through the first five innings. David Ortiz absolutely crushed a hanging curveball from Hanson for a 2-run HR in th bottom of the 5th to give the Red Sox a 3-1 lead heading into the 6th inning. Lester pitched around a single by Simmons in the top of the 6th and has held the Braves to just two hits through 6 innings of work on the mound. Jarrod Saltalamacchia led off the bottom of the 6th with a solo HR to make it 4-1 and that would end the day for Hanson as Chad Durbin would come in from the pen. The Sox got an RBI double from Ellsbury to make it 5-1 and Adrian Gonzalez would make it 6-1 with an RBI single before the inning was over. Lester continued to roll on the mound through the 7th & 8th innings as the Braves could not get any offense going and the Red Sox still had a 6-1 lead. Boston added some insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th and Adrian Gonzalez picked up his 5th hit of the game with an RBI single to CF and we would head to the 9th inning with Boston in control with an 8-1 lead. Jon Lester would come out for the top of the 9th looking to pitch a complete game. Michael Bourn led off the top of the 9th with a single but Lester would get Martin Prado to ground into the 6-4-3 double play and the Braves were down to their final out and Lester would get McCann to fly out to end the game as he goes the distance and the Red Sox win by a score of 8-1.

                  * Jon Lester was magnificent as he pitched a complete game and allowed just 1 run while striking out 8. Lester has been terrific of late as he has an ERA of 0.98 in his last 4 starts

                  * Adrian Gonzalez went 5 for 5 with 5 singles and 2 RBI to raise his average to .339 on the season. Gonzalez is on a tear as he is hitting .524 in his last 10 games.

                  * Jarrod Saltalamacchia continued to swing a hot bat as he hit his 3rd HR in the last two games.

                  * Ryan Sweeney went 4 for 4 in the game

Don't think it's a slider issue for you my friend.....you need to pitch better...you need to focus and think about what you're doing....get better at mixing it up, setting up hitters, don't be afraid to walk guys.....you really have to focus when pitching and think about your pitch selection, location, etc.

Hey TNK, this isn't a slider question but I figured since you're doing a Red Sox franchise I would ask you. Is your schedule wrong? In real life the Sox have a game tonight (6/25) against Toronto, but in my franchise The Show schedule has them off. Was wondering if yours is the same. Thanks.

In real life the Sox have a game tonight (6/25) against Toronto, but in my franchise The Show schedule has them off. Was wondering if yours is the same. Thanks.

The Show straight up left a game out of the Braves spring training schedule. IRL they played the Tigers two times in a row to open the Spring but the Show only has them playing in one game. No big deal I suppose though since its only spring.

Also TNK, I'm using your sliders in my Braves chise and it's been 3 pretty crazy games so far in spring training. I'll keep you updated once I hit the regular season because all these rookies tend to throw stats right out the window.
