Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

Ok, so I started my Franchise with my NYY, Ichiro and all the latests trades from the get-go. Here's my report on my first series of the 2012 season:

Game 1: Yankees @ Tampa (Sabathia vs Price)

Early trouble with Price and late with CC, this one went for ever, lots of hits and walks

8 walks from the Tampa Bay pitching staff

    CC's performance:

    Price's Performance

These sliders are great , my only complain would be hitting is way too easy , at least for good mlb the show players . I think it has to do with the cpu control and consistency , apparently when you lower those sliders it increase's meatballs or pitches that just hang over the plate . I seem to be able to hit over .350 with anyone who has decent ratings . For clarification I change the hitting interface from zone to timing because timing gives me more of a variety I feel that with zone it becomes more of how good the user is instead of the player's ratings. Anyhow just wondering if using timing instead of zone has something to do with my problem.

With Timing - all you have to do is press X....it's 2012 - you shouldn't be just pressing X to swing.

Switch to zone and involve some skill on your part and the averages will be more realistic

I agree, Timing is almost as good as just playing as a manager.... X will eventually match projected numbers for the players, that said it's still a lot of fun, but I'm loving Zone and Pulse.

                  * Hellickson got rocked early on and clearly took advantage of the low confidence of his pitches five homers on that game

                  * Cano went 4-4, 3 HR!, 4 RBI, 2B, 4R, a beast!

                  * Tampa Bay made some critical pitching mistakes and defensive errors that lead to the low hitting/high scoring.

                    * Crazy game with nine (9) homers, 6 for NYY and 3 for Orioles

                    * Orioles Pitching was a disaster, played well over 100 games on MLB 2012, never seen something like this, gotta love the sliders, so much variety, no two games are remotely similar

                    * Yankees BA .243 (19th), 13 HR (1st), 14 BB (3rd) after four games

                      TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

DETROIT TIGERS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #103 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Anibal Sanchez vs. Clay Buchholz)

The Red Sox and Tigers play the 2nd game of this 3 game series as recently acquired Anibal Sanchez takes the mound for Detroit against Clay Buchholz for Boston. The Tigers didn't even need a hit to score the 1st run of the game as Austin Jackson walked to leadoff the game, went to 3rd when Buchholz threw away a pickoff attempt and came in to score on a sac fly by Quintin Berry to take a 1-0 lead. Detroit got another run in the 2nd on an RBI single by Omar Infante and the Tigers had a 2-0 lead after 2 innings. Boston had runners at the corners with one out in the bottom of the 3rd and David Ortiz lined an RBI single to CF to make it 2-1 and setup runners on the corners for Adrian Gonzalez but Sanchez would get Gonzalez to hit into an inning ending double play and we would move to the 4th inning with the Tigers leading 2-1. The Red Sox got back to back singles from Aviles and Punto to setup runners at the corners to begin the bottom of the 5th. Jacoby Ellsbury popped up for the 1st out, Pedroia struck out for the 2nd out and Ortiz flew out to CF as the runner was stranded at 3rd base and Sanchez pitches out of a huge jam to send the game to the 6th inning with Detroit leading 2-1. The game would reamin 2-1 heading into the 7th as Buchholz and Sanchez were both pitching well. Both Buchholz and Sanchez pitched 1-2-3 innings in the 7th and the Tigers would take a 2-1 lead into the 8th inning. Buchholz got the 1st two outs in the top of the 8th before hanging a slider over the plate to Miguel Cabrera that was crushed over the green monster for a solo HR to make it 3-1. Sanchez gave up a two out double to Ortiz in the bottom of the 8th but Adrian Goonzalez would fly out to end the inning and we would head to the 9th with the Tigers up 3-1. The Tigers had two men on with one out off Vicente Padilla in the top of the 9th. Omar Infante flew out for the 2nd out but Austin Jackson would hit a slow roller that found a hole for an RBI single to make it 4-1. Andrew Miller came in for the lefty on lefty matchup and got Berry to pop ot to end the inning. The Red Sox came up in the bottom of the 9th down by a score of 4-1 and Sanchez would remain on the mound looking to pitch a complete game. Saltalamacchia struck out to begin the inning but Cody Ross singled to give the Sox a baserunner with one out. Sanchez would get the final two outs on groundballs as he goes the distance and the Tigers win 4-1.

                      * The Tigers win 4-1 and even the series at a game apiece. The teams will play the rubber match tomorrow as Felix Doubront takes on Justin Verlander.

                      * Anibal Sanchez was outstanding and lucky as he pitched a heck of a game and went the distance, but the Red Sox blew numerous scoring chances and that was the difference in the game.

                      * OF Ryan Sweeney was placed on the DL with a broken hand and OF Ryan Kalish was recalled from AAA Pawtucket

                      * RP Scott Atchison was placed on the DL with an elbow injury and the Red Sox recalled RP Junichi Tazawa from AAA Pawtucket

                      TRADING DEADLINE

                      * The Red Sox acquired lefty RP Craig Breslow from the Diamondbacks for RP Matt Albers and OF Scott Podsednik

                      * I made all of the other moves from the real life MLB trading deadline

                        TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

DETROIT TIGERS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #104 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Felix Doubront vs. Justin Verlander)

The Red Sox and Tigers play the rubber match of this 3 game series as the Tigers send their ace Justin Verlander to the hill against lefty Felix Doubront for Boston. The Red Sox got a two run HR from Adrian Gonzalez to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st and the Sox made Verlander work hard as he needed 27 pitches to get through the inning. Doubront got out of a jam in the top of the 2nd inning when Delmon Young was thrown out trying to steal to end the inning. Doubront got Austin Jackson to hit into an inning ending double play in the top of the 3rd to keep the score 2-0. Jacoby Ellsbury led off the bottom of the 3rd with a solo HR as he wrapped a fly balla round the pesky pole in RF to make it 3-0. Verlander was up to 55 pitches through 3 innings of work on the mound and we would go to the 4th inning with Boston leading 3-0. Verlander picked up his 8th strikeout of the game to end the bottom of the 4th and was up to 67 pitches thrown despite the fact that Boston had a 3-0 lead as we went to the 5th inning. The Tigers had men on 1st & 2nd to begin the top of the 5th. Ryan Raburn smoked a ball up the middle but Pedroia made an incredible diving stop and flipped the the ball from his glove on his stomach to start a beautiful 4-6-3 double play for two huge outs. Doubront would end the threat by getting Infante to fly out to LF to end the inning and keep the score 3-0. Carl Crawford doubled to leadoff the bottom of the 5th and Ellsbury drew a one out walk to give the Sox two men on base. Verlander picked up his 10th K as he fanned Pedroia for the 2nd out. David Ortiz was up next and he laced a double to RF to score Crawford and make it 4-0. Jim Leyland came out of the dugout and yanked Verlander after 4.2 innings as the Sox had him approaching 100 pitches and he was clearly off his game. Duane Below came in with runners on 2nd & 3rd to face Adrian Gonzalez and he would fly out to deep CF to end the threat and we would go to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-0. Doubront kept rolling as he got Prince Fielder to ground out with a man on to end the top of the 6th and keep the score 4-0. Doubront picked up 2 strikeouts in the top of the 7th to make it 7 shutout innings on the mound. The Red Sox made it 5-0 in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI single by Dustin Pedroia. Felix Douboront made it 8 shutout innings on the mound as he got Miguel Cabrera to ground out with a man on to end the top of the 8th. Boston added to their lead in the bottom of the 8th as Saltalamacchia smacked an RBI double off the wall in CF to make it 6-0. Will Middlebrooks followed with an RBI single to make it 7-0. Doubront was 1 out away from the complete game shutout in the 9th inning when Ryan Raburn doubled off the wall to score two runs and cut the Sox lead to 7-2. Mark Melancon came in to get the final out as Doubront was out of gas and the Red Sox win 7-2.

                        * The Red Sox take 2 out of 3 from the Tigers as they win the rubber match 7-2. The Red Sox will begin a 4 game series tomorrow with the Minnesota Twins at Fenway with Aaron Cook taking on Brian Duensing in the opener.

                        * Felix Doubront outpitched reigning AL Cy Young winner Justin Verlander as Doubront went 8.2 innings and was one out away from a complete game shutout. Doubront is 3-0 in his last 4 starts with an ERA of 1.86 as he has allowed just 6 earned runs in his last 29 innings pitched.

                        * The Red Sox did a fantastic job of working deep counts and making Verlander work hard for his outs. Verlander only lasted 4.2 innings and gave up 4 runs but was able to strikeout 11 Red Sox hitters as his stuff was still nasty.

                        * Will Middlebrooks is hitting .387 over his last 10 games

                          TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

MINNESOTA TWINS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #105 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Brian Duensing vs. Aaron Cook)

The Red Sox and Twins begin a 4 game series at Fenway Park as Aaron Cook and Brian Duensing pitch the opener. The Red Sox got an RBI single from Will Middlebrooks to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. The Sox would load the bases with one out but Duensing would get back to back strikeouts of Ciriaco and Ellsbury to get out of trouble and send the game to the 3rd inning with Boston leading 1-0. The Sox got 3 straight two out hits as Cody Ross delivered an RBI wall ball single off the monster to make it 2-0 in the bottom of the 3rd. Will Middlebrooks doubled off the green monster with two outs in the bottom of the 5th to make it 3-0 and that would be all for Duensing as the Red Sox had pounded him for 10 hits thus far. Anthony Swarzak would come in from the pen with two outs in the inning and runners on 2nd & 3rd and get Ryan Kalish to ground out to get out of the inning as we moved to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-0. Ben Revere singled to begin the top of the 6th, stole 2nd base and eventually came in to score on a groundout by Josh Willingham to cut the Sox lead to 3-1. Swarzak pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 6th and we would go to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-1. The Twins were threatening with runners at the corners with two outs in the top of the 7th and Aaron Cook would leave the game as trade deadline acquisition Craig Breslow would come in for his 1st appearance with the Red Sox in a tight spot to face Denard Span. Breslow got out of the jam as Span laced a groundball down the 1st base line and Adrian Gonzalez made a great diving stop and beat Span to the bag at 1st for the final out to keep the score 3-1. Josh Willingham cut the Red Sox lead to 3-2 with two outs in the top of the 8th as he crushed a solo HR to LF. Breslow remained in the game to with lefty Justin Mourneau coming up and he busted him inside with a fastball and got a broken bat groundout to end the inning with the Sox still leading 3-2. The Red Sox got a big insurance run in the bottom of the 8th as Ryan Kalish doubled and came in to score on an RBI single by Ellsbury to make it 4-2. Red Sox closer Alfredo Aceves came in to pitch the 9th looking to close it out and record the save. Aceves got the 1st two outs before Brian Dozier ripped a double down the LF line and the Twins would bring the tying run to the plate. Jamey Carroll would be called on to pinch hit for Alexei Casilla. Carroll almost tied the game as he just missed a HR on the 9th pitch of his at bat when he hit a fly ball to LF that barely stayed in the ballpark by an inch or two for an RBI double to make it 4-3. Denard Span would come up with the tying run on 2nd base and two outs and he lined a single to RF but the ball was hit too hard as Carroll had to hold up at 3rd base. Span stole 2nd base and the Fenway crowd was on edge as the Twins had the tying run at 3rd and the go ahead run at 2nd with two outs and Ben Rever at the plate with Joe Mauer on deck. Aceves would bear down and get Revere to fly out to shallow LF to end the game as he holds on for the heart attack save and the Red Sox win 4-3.......this was a great game!!!

                          * The Red Sox take game 1 of this 4 game series and will send Jon Lester to the mound tomorrow against Carl Pavano for Minnesota

                          * The Red Sox got another solid outing from Aaron Cook who allowed 1 run in 6.2 innings on the mound and earned the win. Cook has made 6 starts and has a 2-1 record with an ERA of 2.61 on the season

                          * Adrian Gonzalez is starting to heat up again after a recent cold streak as he was 3 for 3 with 2 singles, a double and 3 runs scored. Gonzalez is hitting .334 on the season and remains in the running for the triple crown.

                          * Will Middlebrooks continues his recent hot streak by going 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Middlebrooks is hitting .342 over his last 10 games

                          * Ryan Kalish had a nice return to the lineup after being called up from AAA. Kalish went 3 for 4 with 2 singles, a double and a run scored. Kalish is hitting .371 in 12 games played on the season

                            TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

MINNESOTA TWINS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #106 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Carl Pavano vs. Jon Lester)

The Twins got a run in the top of the 1st as Span doubled to leadoff the game and came in to score on an RBI single by Trevor Plouffe. The Red Sox answered right back in the bottom of the 1st as Ellsbury singled to leadoff the inning and Dustin Pedroia followed with a 2-run HR into the monster seats to give the Sox a 2-1 lead. Will Middlebrooks RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd made it a 3-1 game heading into the 4th inning. The Twins stormed back in the top of the 5th as Brian Dozier laced a 2-run single to tie the game at 3-3. Jon Lester was injured in the inning and forced to leave the game with one out and a man on 3rd base, he was replaced by Andrew Miller on the mound. Denard Span hit a sac fly to make give Minnesota a 4-3 lead. Dustin Pedroia led off the bottom of the 5th with a deep drive to the triangle in CF that was tracked down by Span but he couldn't hold on as he crashed into the wall, dropped the ball and was charged with an error as Pedroia scampered all the way to 3rd. David Ortiz followed with a sac fly to tie the game up at 4-4. Pavano would get through the inning and we would head to the 6th inning with the score tied 4-4. The Twins had a man in scoring position with one out in the top of the 6th but Andrew Miller would record back to back strikeouts of Mourneau and Doumit to get out of the inning. Carl Pavano picked up his 6th K to end the bottom of the 6th and we would head to the 7th inning with the score tied 4-4. Andrew Miller got Alexei Casilla to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the top of the 7th. Alex Burnett replaced Pavano on the mound for the bottom of the 7th and got out of the inning when Dustin Pedroia hit a rocket off the very top of the green monster missing a go ahead HR by an inch and the ball was hit too hard as Willingham made a great throw to nail Pedroia trying to stretch it into a double for the 3rd out. Denard Span reached to begin the top of the 8th on a bunt as the throw from Middlebrooks pulled Gonzalez off the bag and he waas charged with an error. Span had a big lead at 1st base and Andrew Miller made a great pickoff move to nail him for an out. Plouffe singled and Ben Revere would pinch run for him, then Mauer singled to setup runners at the corners with one out. Vicente Padilla would come on to face Josh Willingham and got a groundball but the ball found a hole for an RBI single to give the Twins a 5-4 lead. Ryan Doumit doubled off the monster with two outs to drive in two more runs and extedn the Twins lead to 7-4. Glen Perkins was the benificiary of some stellar defense in the bottom of the 8th as Willingham and Revere both made diving catches in the outfield to take away extra bases and prevent Boston from having a big inning and we would head to the 9th with Minnesota leading 7-4. The Twins went quietly in the top of the 9th and we would head to the bottom of the 9th with the Red Sox trailing 7-4. Matt Capps would come on to pitch the bottom of the 9th with a 3 run lead. Kelly Shoppach and Mike Aviles singled with one out to give the Sox two men on and bring the tying run to the plate with the top of the order coming up. Jacoby Ellsbury struck out after fouling off some tough pitches and that would bring up Dustin Pedroia with Boston down to their final out. Pedroia crushed a fastball on the first pitch from Capps that would have tied the game but the ball just hooked foul down the LF line and Pedroia would eventually strikeout on a changeup to the end the game as the Twins hold on to win 7-4.

                            * The Twins win 7-4 to even this 4 game series at 1 game apiece. The Red Sox will send Josh Beckett to the mound tomorrow against Samuel Deduno for the Twins.

                            * Jon Lester was forced to leave the game in the top of the 5th with an injury. Lester will only miss a few days with Elbow Inflammation and should be OK to make his next start.

                              TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

MINNESOTA TWINS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #107 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Samuel Deduno vs. Josh Beckett)

The Twins were making Beckett throw a lot of pitches and had two men on with one out in the top of the 3rd but Beckett would get back to back groundball outs from Mauer and Mourneau to get out of trouble and keep the game scoreless. Samuel Deduno was pitching great for the Twins as the Red Sox had just one hit and we would head to the 4th inning tied 0-0. Minnesota had two men on with one out in the top of the 4th but Beckett would escape danger again as he got Danny Valencia to hit into an inning ending 4-6-3 double play. Deduno was pitching a gem as he had 9 Ks through 5 innings on the mound and the game would go to the 6th inning in a scoreless tie 0-0. The Red Sox had two men on with one out in the bottom of the 6th. Deduno got Pedroia to fly out for the 2nd out but David Ortiz got himself into a hitters count and drove a fastball high off the green monster for a double that score two runs and gave the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. Adrian Gonzalez drew a walk and then Deduno would whiff Saltalamacchia for his 10th K of the game to end the inning and we would go to the 7th inning with Boston leading 2-0. Beckett finished his night with a 1-2-3 top of the 7th and gave his team 7 shutout innings on the mound. Franklin Morales came on to pitch the 8th for Boston and the Twins had runners at the corners with nobody out afteback to back singles. Morales got Joe Mauer to hit into a 5-4-3 double play for two huge outs but Mastroiani would come in to score. Mastroiani had come in for Span who was injured on the basepaths and the score was now 2-1. Morales would get Justin Moutneau to ground out to end the top of the 8th with Boston leading 2-1. Jeff Gray issued back to back walks to Pedroia and Ortiz with one out in the bottom of the 8th and Ron Gardenhire would turn to Jeff Manship with the Red Sox threatening. Manship got a huge strikeout of Adrian Gonzalez for the 2nd out and got out of the inning by getting Saltalamacchia to ground out and we would head to the 9th inning with Boston up 2-1. The Red Sox would turn to their closer Alfredo Aceves with a 1 run lead for the 9th inning. Josh Willingham led off the top of the 9th with a single to put the tying run on base for the Twins. Ryan Doumit was up next and Aceves got him to hit into a huge 4-6-3 double play and the Twins were down to their final out. Brian Dozier flew out to Kalish in CF for the final out as Aceves records the save and Boston wins 2-1.

                              * The Red Sox win 2-1 and have taken two out of three so far in this 4 game series. The teams will play the final game of the series tomorrow with Clay Buchholz on the mound for Boston against Scott Diamond for the Twins

                              * Josh Beckett gave the Red Sox a great start on the mound as he hurled 7 shutout innings to earn the victory while striking out 8 and walking 2 batters

                              * Samuel Deduno was excellent for Minnesota as he struck out 10 batters in 6 innings of work and was the hard luck loser in this game

                              * Denard Span was injured sliding into 3rd base in the 8th inning and will be out for a day or two with a hamstring injury

I don't know if it's because I'm the Pirates (fantasy draft roster) and their ballpark is more for extra base hits over home-runs but it seems like I'm above average on hitting the gaps no problem really. I'm not hitting a lot of balls deep and when they do the cpu just catches them at the warning track.

Just seeing if it's because of the Pirates ballpark or something I'm doing.
