Just played two games with them and scored 8 and 10 runs.
Hitting is more forgiving with the Hybrid. But keep playing. I have little doubt you will have games you will struggle, you will have great days, bad days, average days.

It's all about how many games you play. If you can play at least 100 games in your chise/season, you will be rewarded greatly with the ebb and flow, highs and lows of a real baseball season with either slider set.

I am having so much fun just playing post season mode waiting for OSFM and some classic rosters.

Post season mode was a godsend!!

Wind can be overpowering on this game IMO. I felt 4 felt right after a lot of games. That is something you can play around with and tweak to your preference of course. I think 4 is fair and does not get out of hand for both the wind blowing out or in.

Some games it is strong...but not all the time. Some slider makers test the heck out of the wind slider. I can tell you I do not get too crazy about it. If you look at these sliders the key tweaks are cpu pitching, and fielder speed and reaction. Some tweak to human pitching in regards to stamina to get more realistic pitch counts.

Totally your choice. I like it right where it is. I like seeing more variety in the pitches and getting higher pitch counts from the CPU. We feel it is perfect where it is and just so you know.....it was not put there because of the first pitch meatball as to quite frank I never saw it in franchise, play now or post season mode. I also see it was not a bullet point on the patch notes. I saw plenty of first ptich balls to start the first inning and relief pitchers first pitch.

I understand there was a gazzilion page thread on it. I did not read one page of it. I never saw it.

I know this isn't really an issue as it's a good thing. But I feel as if I very rarely strike out while batting. You think it has to do with the fact that I use pure analog, I feel I'm pretty good with it & there aren't many swing & misses. I haven't played too many games but I still feel that I rarely swing & miss.

These sliders are designed for timed hitting. Different ballgame on timed. Ratings driven after you swing. PCI placement etc.

              Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders

Had 3 very entertaining games with these today.

Beat the Marlins as the Dodgers 7-6.
2 homers by Ethier in the first 2 innings and another by Kemp helped me build a 7-0 lead. Their bullpen shut me down and mine almost let them back in. With a runner (can't remember who it was) on second and 2 outs in the 9th Stanton lined a single up the middle. Kemp fired home to get the runner trying to score and end the game.

Game 2 I beat the Brewers as the Yankees 8-7. Pettitte got roughed up and was taken out in the 5th after giving up a 3 run homer to Aramis Ramirez which put the Brewers ahead 7-4. I scored 4 in the bottom of the first on 2 hit batters and 2 singles and an error. Hafner tied the game in the bottom of the 5th with a 3 run shot. The game stayed tied until the bottom of the 9th. Youkilis and Overbay both walked, Nunez sac bunted them over and Cervelli was intentionally walked. Bases loaded one out for Gardner who hit a weak grounder to second. Weeks tried to get the out at home but Youkilis was safe for the walk off win.

Game 3 I beat the Red Sox as the Angels. solid pitching by Lester and Weaver. A solo homer by Trumbo in the second was all the scoring until the 6th. Hamilton tried to make a diving catch on a liner by Saltalamaccia but missed and the ball rolled to the wall for a 2 run triple. Trumbo would tie it with another solo HR in the 7th. A single by Kendrick followed by a 2 run homer for Iannetta had given me the 4-2 lead. I would tack on 4 more in the 8th and rolled to the 8-2 win.

All 3 games were fun and close (until the 8th inning of the third game).

I'm debating moving back up to the all star hitting sliders though. I feel too many balls are being hit hard with the hybrid settings, although I did use 3 pretty good offensive teams so who knows. I will try a few games with some weaker hitting teams and see how it goes.

Armor, and Marino you guys want any feedback or are you finished? Dope set btw! Only two games in but had two great games vs Boston.

Also, I use analog pitching because I never Really learned meter. I just lowered my pitch ACC by 1.

I just played a great MLB Live game, Red Sox at Yankees. Kuroda pitched 7 shut out innings and Mo pitched a perfect 9th. I am in a HR slump my last 3 games, I haven't hit one but I know a 3 HR game is around the corner.

Just thought I'd pop in real quick, I played the Opening Day game in my Cubs franchise tonight. I used your All-Star sliders (Changes: Pitch Speed 7/Hum Solid Hits 3/Fielding & Throwing Errors 6).

Anyways, I had a No-Hitter going into the 9th inning with Jeff Samardzija. The first hitter of the 9th broke it up.

                    "Close But No Cigar-dzija"

Sorry, I had to take my lame attempt at a headline.

Closest I've ever been to a No-No! I just found it ironic with Yu Darvish's close call last night. I'll be playing my franchise with that set-up so I'll pop in and post some box scores from time-to-time. Thanks for these!

I am personally set. I am playing Hybrid with the exact page one settings. Pitch speed at 5 BTW.

I don't know about Marino. I think he is fiddling around with a HOF set maybe. Or maybe doing what I am doing and getting head deep into playing The Show for the next several years as I will not be going PS4 for at least a year..but more like 2 at a minimum.

It will be hard.....but I know better (after 30 plus years of video gaming)

I've completed 11 online league games against the CPU with the Dodgers on the All-Star sliders. Here are my stats for those 11 games.

                          8-3 record
                          Team BA .252
                          Team OBP .332
                          Team SLG .344
                          Team OPS .676
                          Team ERA 3.09
                          Runs per game 4.2
                          Hits per game 8.45
                          XBH per game 2
                          HR per game 0.55
                          Walks per game 4.0
                          Strikeouts per game 7.3

10 of the 11 games have been decided by 3 runs or less, 2 by 3 runs, 2 by 2 runs, and 6 by 1 run.

Before changing the sliders, I was about 30 games into the season and was hitting around .320 on Veteran and averaging over 6 runs a game. My team ERA was about the same as it is now, maybe slightly higher.

Wish I was hitting better, especially slugging better as I only have 16 doubles and 6 home runs in the 11 games, and my team OPS would put me 3rd worst in the majors last season, just barely ahead of the Astros (although the Dodgers did have the 5th worst OPS last season). But I'm afraid if I go back to Veteran now, even with the reduced values in the Hybrid set, I will have too much offense and win too easily, so I think I'm going to leave it on All-Star for now.

I just noticed the change to human pitcher confidence and consistency so I'm sure my ERA will go up after making those changes as well. The only game where my starter just didn't have it and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn so far was a 9-6 loss against the Cardinals. Gave up 7 runs in the 2nd but part of that was my own fault for trying to go to 2nd on a sac bunt and Adrian took his sweet time making the throw and everyone was safe. Later, with 2 outs in the inning, Matt Holliday cleared the bases with a 3-run triple that shouldn't have happened if I was out of the inning already.

Maybe the human pitching changes coupled with the hybrid Veteran settings would lead to more runs scored all-around, although 4.2 rpg is pretty good since the Dodgers only scored 3.9 rpg last year and the best team in the majors scored 4.9, so I don't know if I want more offense after all. I guess I wish I had more extra base hits while the batting average stayed the same or was slightly higher. But there again, the Dodgers last year only slugged .374 and hit .252 with a .690 OPS so I'm really not that far off, although the offense is better this year but Crawford has been hurt most of the year for me so far in our league as has Luis Cruz, so we'll see how getting them back affects things.

I think your stats look REALLY good!

Aside from the XBH's, those look damn nice.

If I were you, I'd play a bit more and see if you start putting balls in alleys and up over fences some more.

Give it another 9 games, and then perhaps look into a tweak or two. But your stats do not SCREAM, "Change difficulty level."

                            Not in the slightest.

What is the thought process with auto field - smoother animations, letting ratings come into play, or not a fan of fielding?

Sounds like mostly the first two. From the OP:

The beauty of auto fielding (and manual throwing) on The Show is something to behold. The full power of the animation engine is on display, the full use of a players ratings is no doubt the dice roll to decide great plays and huge game losing errors.
I played two Spring Training games with these sliders last night and loved them. Got a lot of things to get used to (jumped from MLB 11 to MLB 13), but these played really great. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed classic pitching.
