Not sure if this has been asked yet, but with the new edit contracts tool, will the OSFM roster have correct contracts for players?

I would first like to say that everyone at OS did a great job on the prospects in 2014. I had one major beef with it though. Based on professional scouting reports, Baseball Prospectus, and Baseball America, most of the prospects were grossly overrated. I would sim 5 years into the future only to find every team's 5th starter was around a 85-88 overall. On top of that nearly almost every prospect succeeded and became a star.

Over 20 simulations of a 5 year span had the top 100 prospects succeeding at a much higher than normal rate compared to that of real life.

Over the 5 years, on average, 82 of the top 100 prospects grew in potential. With an already inflated potential, they all soon became insane. There was always over 15 players with 99 potential.

The problem is, if you give a player 90 potential and he is in AA, after one year he will grow fast, regardless of if he plays poor or not. He will progress so fast that he will stay in the minor leagues but be so advanced that he dominates further increasing his potential and creating a snowball effect.

I would like to know what the OSFM roster community thought about the idea of creating a set of standards based on the top professional baseball scouts to help limit this. It would be nice after 5 years for 90+ overall to still be elite instead of 85-88 being an average starter.

I would like to know everyone's opinions on changing this, I understand if no one wants to and I can aways just do it to my own game (which I will), but I thought others might agree on this problem and we can help out many people at once. If not, then no harm. I am in no way here to say anyone is wrong and it MUST be changed, this is a suggestion only from my experience.

This may be a stupid question but do you guys have a date where these wonderful OSFM rosters (the hybrid) are released? Is it more of a "we'll see how we progress" sort of thing?

Usually take about a month or so to complete.

Oh and thanks to everyone doing this stuff for the people. Makes this game 1000x better, so you're well appreciated by everybody. I know so much about the Cubs and their roster i wish i could help in some capacity but i don't know the first thing about this process.

Can't remember for sure how it works with the MLBPA but will Barry Zito be in the default rosters or will he need to be created?

He'll need to be created. If he makes the team then he'll be added through a roster update with correct stats and service time at which point someone will copy over a face for him I am sure. Go to Motowns CAP thread he did a Zito cap that looks amazing.

Honestly it will be a see how things progress. We just have a better system hopefully in place to get it out faster this year. But probably end of April is realistic

Yes I watched him throw at Hohokam a few days ago. He looks good. He made some adjustments with his delivery. He looks to be in good shape too. Wouldn't be surprised if he made the team.

This is the same spreadsheet in post 27 of this thread and could probably be moved into the 1st post so that people can have easier access to it. About 3 days from now, it will be buried here just like it was in post 27.

Looking at this and suggesting changes based on data is the way to go. Don't be the drive-by poster who says "this is all wrong, but I can't invest any time in adding anything constructive; you do all the work." These types of comments will not change anything.

I've also started inputting contracts for those who are asking.
