Re: 2015 OSFM REVISION ROSTER v1 - Released
He certainly isnt an A potential. Sorry.
That should be reserved for Urias, Giolito, Syndergaard, etc..
Even Tailon and Glasnow from the Pirates needed to be dropped quite a bit.
Reyes probably ends up as a back end rotation starter with control issues, or he will be a bullpen guy.
Probably a bullpen guy.
You have to understand that the players typically end up wherever you place their potential.
The top, top guys should be 90's
Outside of that, most top prospects should be 85 or lower...mostly low 80's for top 50 guys and high to mid 70's for other top 100 guys.
If they arent top 100 prospects, then you should be placing them in the low 70's potential.
I might make a roster with an actual system to it for potentials based off of fangraphs ranking by Kiley McDaniel.
" 23. Alex Reyes, RHP
St. Louis Cardinals
Current level: High Class A (Palm Beach)
Reyes has seen his stuff tick up this spring in a big way; he's now sitting in the upper 90s as a starter, his curveball is more consistently plus, and he has a developing changeup. He's also maintaining his conditioning better this year and working harder on repeating his delivery, so while his command and control aren't average yet, there's more reason to believe they will be, giving him the potential upside of an ace."
Sorry but I'm going to take BP and Klaws opinion over yours. Oh and Kyle crick has an A potential on this roster and listed as top 50 prospect when he has a career BB/9 around 6 and 6.6 this year.
This discussion just reminded me about a similar one I had here with someone a couple years ago regarding Carlos Martinez. Said basically the same stuff. I just looked up his stats from first year in High A and he had a 5.9 BB/9 to Reyes 4.7Last edited by big_tone91; 06-02-2015, 03:58 PM.NEW YORK GIANTS

Willard I just wanted to ask you real quickly what the most recent version released included? I downloaded v1 and loved it but then went on vacation and haven't been able to check out any others yet. Did you end up doing accurate contracts? And we're WTNY's pitch edits used cause I see he has quite a long thread of his own going. Just looking for some clarification, thanks for the dedication and excellent work!PSN: lxl_Porta_lxl

You're using Fangraphs as your authority on prospects? Might want to subscribe to some sites that are dedicated to prospects if you're taking this seriously or at least read the first article on his fangraphs profile "http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/alex-reyess-weakness-isnt-that-strong/ Reyes still has a lot left to prove, but his prospect trajectory is clearly on the rise. Kiley stated a few weeks ago that he bumped the 20-year-old’s FV from 55 to 60 due to his tremendous start. Kiley told me the other day that he may bump him up even further by year’s end, so long as he keeps pitching well and shows good-enough command." Also you're saying 20 year olds who throw 99-101 with a plus curve and have a K/9 of 13.5 at High A are a dime a dozen? Reyes stuff has ticked up you're using a scouting report from February and not a very good one. Baseball Prospectus grades pre season "The Tools: 7 potential FB; 6+ potential CB; 5+ potential CH." Keith Laws updated top 25 from just last week

I simply suggested he should be an 80 potential. That is pretty good on this roster. For example, Lance Lynn is currently an 80 on this roster set.
If I told you Alex Reyes is potentially as good as Lance Lynn, you would be thrilled with that.
Alex Reyes has a very live arm, but he also has trouble commanding the wicked stuff he possesses. That is what the general consensus seems to be.
For that, I give him an 80. I do not believe he is poised to be an 85 or 90 level pitcher.Comment

Just a heads up but both v1.2 and v2(contracts) have 2 D Washingtons at 1B on the Cards. That will free up a spot for you Cardinal fans to add a missing player you want added.

Re: 2015 OSFM REVISION ROSTER v1 - Released
I was thinking of doing some tinkering to the Red Sox but I first had a question; are the rookies SCEA puts in the game exportable? I am looking to edit Addison Russell to be Deven Marrero so that when I go into the roster foundation screen it says 2012 MLB First Year Player Draft 1st round. I was then going to do the same for Michael Lorenzen with Trey Ball but this of course won't work unless I can export rookies that SCEA has added into the game. Didn't know if anybody knew the answer to thisPSN: lxl_Porta_lxl

Motown has a great cap of Alex Reyes in the vault. Just sub him in. Roster isn't going to be perfect. I have had to do a lot of editing myself. This is Willard's roster and I was shocked how many Blue Jays prospects were missing.
I have done massive changes to mainly the starters and relievers and some elite position players. I was thinking about releasing my work. But I used v2 as a base and don't want to take credit for anyones work.Comment

Willard had mentioned this previously but prospect rankings were not the end all be all for who to include. Accurate AAA and AA rosters took more precedence. He mentioned that he studied how many BA top prospects actually made the MLB and that number was roughly 10%. So accurate rosters took precedence over top prospects, particularly the younger ones (20 and under). This is all from memory from being a long term follower of Willard and his rosters over the years. He can probably provide more insight into his decisions.

What I plan on doing is using the draft to incorporate some of the higher ranked but real young prospects by editing over the scea created players to put in the real guysLast edited by BDaniels20; 06-02-2015, 06:22 PM.Comment

Re: 2015 OSFM REVISION ROSTER v1 - Released
I actually like the way he has it because the guys your talking about hime leaving off are going to have no impact on the big league club for 3 maybe 4 years. So having those older minor leaguers gives you the option to bring up the player who would likely get the call for an injury.
What I plan on doing is using the top missed prospects as the players that get drafted and just editing them in that way they will progress more so with their actual time frameComment
