I'm using the base franchise I made when the roster was released to test, and then simming an entire season (year 1) with updated ratings to test.

Since pitching ratings are already in place league-wide, it's a good baseline.

And his numbers came out similar to what he just did?

        Yes

Here's a video with a few test sims so you can see variance. I include a peak at some new ratings at the beginning.
Twitch is the world's leading video platform and community for gamers.

For the most part, he's hitting 40+ HRs.

On the last sim, you can see hit hit 57 bombs with around a .300 batting average.

The show needs to hire you! I'd say EASPORTS but they really don't do too many smart things.

              No, they aren't

However, I'll start to work on a new spreadsheet with updates for the upcoming season.

Really happy with how the ratings are becoming more streamlined this year. I'm shifting to a system for defense that relies mostly on Statcast data. In the past, Statcast was a part of the calculations, but defensive runs saved and standard fielding stats played a big role as well.

This shift allows for more accurate, consistent results that look at fielding ability more holistically. This means that ratings will be accurate representations of players regardless of their position.

Let's say you have Gleyber Torres for example, who's been shifted between 2B and SS throughout his career. If I decided SS was his primary position, his arm strength would have been a bit inflated. However, with the tweaks, his new rating (70) is accurate regardless of where he plays in the field.

This is useful if you want to switch player positions in franchise mode. Someone like DJ LeMahieu (65 arm strength) can be used at 3B, but his arm is a much better fit at 2B (or SS in a pinch).

This means that your new Spreadsheet will be available when MLB 23 is released?

Thanks for publishing this! Are the ratings final once you put them into the spreadsheet, or do you plan to do more tweaking as you go?

They're usually final, unless players switch positions or roles change. But you shouldn't see drastic changes.
