I'm about to shoot all of them right now. Bad enough Harper has to do it all right now (hit 3 HR, 4 RBI) and the relievers can't even pitch for an inning.

I'm going back to All-Star.

It's just too frustrating with these relievers. Everything is either down the middle or 4 feet off. Rondon, 81 BB/9, threw one slider 3 feet outside and then next was 4 feet outside and then the next one missed by 5 feet (wanted it off the edge and ended up hitting the batter...)

Won the game but the bullpen gave up 4 runs. It's like it's fine for the starters, even if they have lower BB/9, but relievers, seemingly regardless of ability, get crushed.

I didn't see this at All-Star. I actually gave up walks because the game seems less interested in putting things in the middle. Last two games - hardly any walks allowed...because stuff is in the center of the plate.

When this stupidity isn't happening, I LIKE how it plays at 0/1 or 0/0 on HoF. For starters, it's nice, realistic, creates tense moments. For relievers, at least at this point of my franchise, it's BP time.

My Rule 5 pick Mader had this line: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 6 BB 7 K

Team as a whole walked 8 batters. But it wasn't out of hand because of the behavior on contact and could still get K's/make pitches. Bullpen gave up a run on 2 hits in 2 1/3 innings, 3.85 ERA.

Keep it on HOF, just hang in there...

Okay, couple of things that might help.

Warm up your closer on the mound. Even if he is at full readiness. Why? You ask?

Because you need to get the timing down on the Classic windup, especially if your closer is a full-time stretch pitcher. (As most closers are). The timing is waaaaaaaaaay different, and you'll need those eight pitches to see what the movement is on your new pitchers' pitches.

I'll bet your closer is getting burned on his fastball. He has a burner, throws 97 but you haven't had 6 innings to harness his control, and learn how far to aim in the vibration, to make the pitches end up where you want. Warm your guy up and get a handle on his stuff, you'll have better luck.

Do you guys use Guess Pitch? I have a theory on the whole guess pitch thing.. against the computer. See what I am putting down here? Against the computer

Play a game on the lowest rookie level. Turn guess pitch on. Mark down a chit mark every time you guess the pitch and location correctly, and get full controller-vibration.

Now play a game on legend. Same team, same pitcher. Mark down your correct guesses. Whoa, wait.. what happened?? Is it possible that the skill level makes it so your "Guessed" pitch, just happens to be the pitch that gets thrown? Against another person, it is controller input vs controller input. I get it, not problem there.

Against the computer it is controller input versus.... yeah, you get it. Turn off Guess Pitch.

Fact it, if you are playing zone hitting, and you think it will be a fastball up and in, move the reticle there, and swing with the power button. There is your guess pitch. You guessed correctly. The fact the computer will lower your contact, lower your power, and shrink the reticle for an incorrect guess, based on an input that we have no idea if the computer is actually making after you guess??... Not for me. Conspiracy theory maybe, but it is worth thinking about.

The other caveat here is that once we get these sliders all set, and the game is playing perfectly, and with a close to realistic results as we can get, the OSFM Rosters will hit the scene, and all of the ratings, the pitch edits, control and fielding edits will render the sliders to a state of disarray. I bumped up the slider errors on my Analog fielding, but with the edits that come out, I'll have to lower them again to keep from Knoblauching everything into the tenth row.

So, we can tweak all the sliders, but keep in mind if you are an OS Roster fan, we will need to move them a bit when those come out.

It's not just the closer. It's the whole bullpen. No matter who it is or what his ratings are. Not just fastballs - I know to try to stay unpredictable and establish pitches.

Heaven help me if I still had Paco Rodriguez and tried to throw like the irl Paco Rodriguez (which I do when I do have real players - I find them on fangraphs and try to pitch/hit like they do) and his 30-ish% FBs and best pitch as a slider.

I guess my biggest thing with HoF in the bullpen (again, SP is challenging and dramatic), is there's no middle ground. There's no he didn't have it, but he didn't implode. It's more like - the instant he gives up something, he implodes.

On All-Star, there's more middle ground in the bullpen. Like that last game - 1 run in 2 1/3. That's reasonable, especially given my pen (average /9 in my pen, excluding HR/9, is like 80, 80, 60). My relievers actually look competent (not even necessarily "great" - as that's a 3.85 ERA, pretty much average [3.71] - I'd argue my pen "should" be better than average...on average lol).

If I stayed on HoF, I don't think I could take 0/0. Control at 0, maybe. Consistency? I don't think I can. There's missing your spots sometimes, and then there's throwing batting practice. Giving up walks out of the pen..sure. I just don't get walks given up when stuff is down the middle constantly...

Nope, don't use guess pitch. I wouldn't be surprised if you were right. There's similar stuff with stealing that makes me wonder and the whole "if you take a step while the pitcher is set, the CPU is picking off right as you hit L1" thing. It's like L1 = picking yourself off.

Between that and the whole bonus/penalty aspect, I don't use it.

Exactly why I don't use it. I "guess" in my head and if I want influence, I'll do that with Directional.

I've been using 0/1 for control/consistency on HOF for both cpu and user. A world of difference from 0/0 where I was hitting batters and throwing wild pitches. I'd try that on HOF and see what happens. Again, I use quick counts but it shouldn't matter.

Okay, another three game test set for me, and HOF will do it for me with 0/0. I love it. Nerve wracking, but not cheap feeling. Every pitch, defensive shift, and set up pitch- I've earned it.

I am seeing bullpen trends with certain guys. Tazawa is going to be lucky to even be allowed to touch a ball in practice. I have not figured out what his major maladjustment is, but he'll not be pitching, uh, I mean, blowing games like its his job, any more.

At least until he gets his OSFM edits and sucks a little bit less. He's like a ten car pile up out there right now, except no one wants to see it. So, for three games he has ruined a great, or at least solid start for my starter. He's done.

Koji has been nails in the 8th, and Kimbrel is a strikeout machine, so I feel I've dialed in the settings for pitching.

Still some issues in the outfield with animations and untimely crow hops that I hope I can address somehow.

Errors and speeds are good, arm strength and fielding look great.

Now, I'll do a twenty game no-touch test set, and chart the trends good or bad for finalization.

I am finding pitch speed is a HUGE thing and hitting this year, I had it set to 8 and all the fastballs I hit were late and got struck out probably more then average, I am going to try the speed at 7, I think it's important to get it at the right level, most people say it is user preference by I disagree I think it's really important ti have it right

It's user preference in the sense that the setting will vary for what is that "perfect" number for them. I personally have both pitch speeds at zero and it works well for me. 7 may be great for you. I agree, it makes a difference, especially if using the timing interface for hitting.

0. really?? the issue I am having is I wanna get it at the right level where I am inconsistent, maybe I should have kept it at 5, and yes I use timing, if I put it to low it will effect strikeout numbers and then mostly the outs I will have will be fly balls because I will see the ball to easy on fastballs

I did see A LOT of errors at crucial times, so maybe that needs playing with.

8 games in and 4 total errors for both teams! Not seeing it.
