as odd as this sounds, try a different camera angle...

I've seriously tried all of the sliders featured here and this problem persist. Seriously thinking that there is something wrong with my copy.
Weird. I used these sliders without adjusting them at all and got a nice balanced game as NYY vs HOU. I won 4-2, with each team having 6 or 7 hits and 1 error each. I use the dynamic difficulty, for now, so I know where about my average skill lies, which is Rookie+ for hitting and All Star+ for pitching.

On a side note, I thought I would hate auto fielding, but it definitely makes the game look better, as the CPU makes grabs I've never done in several years of playing.

Additionally, (and I don't mean to call anyone out) but the sliders set, from my point of view, are designed to be difficult and not necessarily for everyone. If you don't hit your spots as a pitcher, you will get hit. Alternatively, if you don't square up on a ball, you won't produce hits regularly. If playing with these sliders produce outrageous stat lines for you, I do recommend taking a look and adjusting them according to your play style/ability.

I have a late call at work today, so I'm taking an extended lunch to stream.

If anyone's around, I'll have the stream up on YouTube in a few minutes!

Edit: I'll be previewing slider v2.4!

Gotcha!! Again, your sliders create a challenge bro! They are fun and keep the game from becoming to video game like and more like real life. I prefer a game of 2-4 instead of 12-15. Thanks for doing what ur doing! I love the slides

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '17 Sliders

Hello, I dont chime in too often on here, but im a regular and I consistently visit this thread. Let me first say i appreciate all the hard work you put into this slider set. You and i seem to have the same goals in mind for the Show. A challenging and realistic baseball experience is what I look for each year. I like my stats to be as close to something that would be produced in real life. While I know perfection is impossible, you guys do great job of trying to get it as close as possible. We also have very similar playing styles as far as zone hitting, hall of fame etc... so thank you.

That being said, I'm not sure what's going on in my game, because everyone seems to be having much better results than me. I certainly don't think im a great player, and im sure most of you could beat me on a regular basis lol. I did finish a 162 game season last year, playing every pitch, so I am experienced at both the Show and baseball itself.

Please know im not complaining in any sense, rather im seeking advice on what to adjust on my sliders. I'm basically crushing them offensively every game. To the point I can be half-distracted and still pound out base hits and doubles, and home runs.

Here are my stats through 19 games. I'm only concerned with offense right now.
Note: ive played these 19 games with every team in the American League at least one game each. So in my opinion, the end result should at least be somewhere in the neighborhood league average. I'm also aware that a sample size of 19 games in baseball is nothing. But i downloaded a few single day MLB statistics, and they all at least flirted with league averages with a couple of snall spikes here and there.

These are my "per game" statistics, with real MLB league averages of 16+17 next.

                  Runs/G: 5.42 (4.48)
                  Hits/G : 9.84 (8.66)
                  Singles/G: 5.89 (5.63)
                  Doubles/G : 2.05 (1.69)
                  HR/G : 1.74 (1.16)
                  Batting Average: .282 (.254)
Walks per game: 2 (3.15) (this is usually around 3.2 for me, but since I'm crushing, patience hasn't been as necessary. )
K's/G 5.89 (8.06) (im not as concerned here - i know the show is low on user strikeouts)
                  SLG: .500 (.416)

I'm a patient hitter and stay around 30% first pitch swinging. All mlb clubs stay between 20% and 34% tops.

                  CPU ERA is 5.23
CPU First pitch strikes are 56.3%
                  CPU Strike Percentage is 62.6%

I keep having 13, 14 15 hits, and even a 20 hit game last time out.

If it wasn't for my first 4 games playing 17, when I was getting used to the game, and my numbers were realistic and low, my averages would be much higher than they are. Since then, offense has been newsworthy.

These per game figures may be ok if i was playing with a super potent top-of-the-league offensive powerhouse. If i plugged these numbers into real MLB i would be leading the league in almost every category. And close to first in the others.

I have tried a few adjustments
I lowered hum contact one notch for 4 games and i could barely get 7 hits per game. And only 2 runs per game. Seemed too difficult (and way below league averages) so I moved it back to 6 and the crushing continued.

I lowered timing to 0 for for a few games, I still got over 10 hits a game with lots of doubles.
I left timing at 0 and lowered solid hits one notch for a few games and while the ball seemed to not be smoked every time, I still averaged 10 hits per game. With almost 3 doubles per game.

So - again this is no where near a complaint. And i know im not this good. But im confused as to why this is happening. I need some input from a slider expert like yourself as to what to adjust. Seems like everything I try either makes it too unrealistically difficult to be competitive, or, it changes nothing.

On a side note, Jose Altuve hit a 476 ft home run. I dont know much about Altuve, but seems a bit much lol. I'm thinking this has more to do with a game issue itself than sliders though...

Any suggestions are welcome. And again, thank you Mike Lowe, I'm a big fan of your work. Thats why im here!

Thanks for the kind words! If I were to make just one change for you, I'd say lower solid hits by one notch. You're pretty close.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '17 Sliders

Thanks for the quick reply! Solid hits has been lowered one notch a few games with still a lot of offense. I'll keep it there and see if a larger sample size makes a difference. I also have timing at 0 still. I'm not sure what I'm accomplishing by doing that, but I dont really see a difference. I guess I'm hoping itll make it more difficult or maybe increase strikeouts a tick? What do you think?

What do you think lowering power one notch in addition to lowering solid hits would do?

Or lowering power instead of solid hits?

I know some will say try it and find out. Which im willing to do. But i dont want to play 20 or 40 more games of sample size to test it each time lol. So i can take any input i can get.

I can't really speak for pitching because im playing analog for now. Some games I get crushed and some games I hit every spot, and I just keep adjusting sliders too much to compile a good set of averages. I will soon though.

Timing at zero seems to work for you based on your swing/miss %s you shared. Otherwise, increasing that, as odd as it may sound, could bring your offense down a bit as you'll start to put more bad swings in play.

I would not lower power as it has too much of an impact on groundballs rolling into corners, etc.

Why don't you just bump hitting up to Legend and see how it goes?

So I'm confused on the Timing thing. Raising it could possibly make hitting more difficult? Not sure how that works. But that Slider has always confused me.

Not a bad idea on bumping up to legend. I guess I never considered it because it seems like ive heard how it's not realistic in the past. Or maybe that was All-Madden im remembering, I dont know. lol.

I think if lowering solid hits doesnt work ill reset back to your sliders and try legend.

Increasing your timing will make you swing and miss more. Less misses means more bad contact balls being put in play for what most likely would be an out.

It also means you might walk less for the same reason.

I've been playing Legend since last year and had a set of sliders that worked wonderfully on MLB The Show 16'. It was a mix of a couple with my own twitches and the results were surprisingly good. This year everything just seems off. The new ball physics are amazing but why try to make the game more realistic when everyone hits 500+ home runs and every ball in the dirt means the runner is going to advance. It feels more like an arcade game at this point. I've sincerely tried all of the sliders and the results are the same. Modifying the power and wind sliders don't help at all. Power on 0 and wind on 0 and the ridiculous home runs continue. Multiple sub-par defenders making 2-3 diving catches a game. I have yet to see one error. Etc. It's kind of frustrating at this point.
