    Back to my Pirates franchise.

    Marlins (27-35) vs Pirates (34-28)
    Conley (4-4) vs Hutchison (6-4)

Pirates trying to even the 4 game series in this one. Both pitchers were on this game. Still think the sliders are going well. Scored the 1 run in the 1st inning on a RBI single by Bell.

    Marlins 0 7 1 (2 doubles, 1 triple)
    Pirates 1 5 0 (1 double)

    Conley 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
    Hutchison 7.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

Some promising results, eager to see HR average after 10 games, but it looks like you are getting some good variety.

Pirates welcome the Rockies for a 3 game set in Pittsburgh.

It is Cole vs Gray. It was a pitchers duel. I raised the CPU solid hits up 1 to 6. Not getting a lot hit hard balls. I'm going to try it. Next game I have Glasnow who is struggling so I'm interested to see how he does.

        Rockies 1 6 0 (1 double, 2 BB, 7 K)
        Pirates 3 6 0 (1 HR, 3 BB, 2 K)

Only HR was a solo shot by McCutchen.

The 2nd game of the series the Pirates lose 6-1. Glasnow gave up 3 HR and I could not get anything going against Tyler Anderson. Who to his credit is having a great season he is now 7-3 with a 2.81 ERA. I was early on everything and swinging at bad pitches. I did lower my difficulty from Veteran+ to Veteran. I will keep an eye on my offense.

          Rockies 6 11 1 (3 HR, 1 3B, 2 BB, 9 K)
          Pirates 1 3 0 (1 HR, 1 BB, 10 K)

I did give up 3 HR but also gave up 11 hits so I don't think that was bad. 2 of them landed in the first row.

I started the next game and decided to bump up Human Timing plus 1 to 4. So far so good but just want to make sure it isn't going to get crazy. I had to save the game in the 5th down 4-1.

What a finish. In the 6th inning I hit a 2 run double to make it a 4-3 game. Score stayed that way until the 9th inning when Hanson who has been struggling hit a bloop double down the line. Bell just missed a ball and flied out for the 2nd out. Runner advanced to 3rd. Then a walk and then a game tying single up the middle.

In the 11th I gave up a error to start the inning on a ground ball. Kang threw it in the stands. They sacrificed bunt him to 3rd and then a sac fly. Bottom of the 11th Hanson hit another 1 out double. Then a infield single to the pitcher on what should have been a error they called it a single to make it first and third with one out. Followed by a big strikeout for the 2nd out. Then Kang hit a game winning RBI single up the middle to win it.

              Rockies 5 13 0 (1 triple, 2 doubles, 1 BB, 6 K) 13 for 43
              Pirates 6 15 1 (1 HR, 5 doubles, 2 BB, 9 K) 15 for 46

Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

I might have finally locked in to these sliders. I started a 3 game series at home against the 1st place Cubs. They have a 6 game lead. This is a big series for me cause I feel like this will determine if I'm going to be sticking around the division race. I'm in a 3 team tie for the 2nd wild card spot so I'm not out of it.

                Game 1 of the series:
                Lester (5-3 2.45) vs Taillon (6-4 3.36)

3rd inning Hanson hit a leadoff triple and scored on a ground out. 5th inning Bryant hit a 2 run HR. Next inning Heyward singled, stole 2nd and scored on a single. I answered with a RBI single the next inning and the Cubs bullpen closed the game out.

                Cubs 3 8 1 (1 HR, 1 double, 2 BB, 7 K)
                Pirates 2 8 0 (1 triple, 1 double, 2 BB, 2 K)

                Sliders: Human/CPU
                Contact: 6/7
                Power: 3/3
                Timing: 4/3
                Foul Freq: 0/3
                Solid Hits: 6/6
                Pitch Cont: 4/2
                Pitch Cons: 5/6

Everything else the same as BYU. The only thing I'm seeing is my offense isn't striking out that much. I don't know what to change on my sliders to fix that without affecting other stuff cause I like what I'm seeing. I might start up some modifiers in a couple games.

                  Game 2
                  Hutchison (7-4 vs Hendricks (5-2)

Hutchison did not have it. Gave up 7 hits and kept getting out of trouble and then it finally came back and bite him in the 5th when he gave up a 2 run HR to Rizzo and a 3 run HR to Schwarber in the 6th. Lost 6-1. Hendricks pitched 8.2 IP and I finally scored a run on the 9th when they took him out when I had 2 runners on.

                  Cubs 6 15 0
                  Pirates 1 5 0

                  Game 3:
                  Cole (8-3) vs Lackey (6-5)

Cubs took a 6-2 lead with a couple HR and basehits. I could not get Schwarber out all series. I tied it in the 7th to make it 6-6. In the 11th I had the winning run on 3rd with 1 out and Kang struck out and Hanson flied out to end the inning. The 12th inning Schwarber hit a 2 run HR to take the lead and the sweep of the series. Pirates are falling out of the division down 9 games and 3 games out of the wildcard.

                  Cubs 8 14 1 (3 HR, 3 doubles, 2 BB, 6 K)
                  Pirates 6 12 0 (1 HR, 3 triples, 2 doubles, 1 BB, 9 K)

I am going to try to lower CPU timing down 1 to 2. Maybe look at raising human power up 1 to 4 but I'm going to see what the next series does. In 7 games I hit 4 HR and gave up 7 HR. But getting a good amount of extra base hits so I don't really want to change anything. And I feel the Pirates are not a HR hitting team anyway.

I updated errors and to get a fresh start using only these sliders, started a Cubs Franchise and here are the results 6 games in. I am going to roll with these for my franchise. Please tweak as needed to fit your playing style, but I like what I am getting from these. Take note of the last two games of the Brewers series below, love the Jeckyll and Hyde nature of these two games, which show me pitchers and how you work them really plays a big part.

                      Thoughts:
A couple of high scoring games, but I could really gauge the difference from when a CPU pitcher was on, painting the corners and hitting spots vs. falling behind and leaving pitches up. Patience helped a ton on the latter, and not so much when the CPU was dialed in. Hitting 4 HR after going two straight games with no HR tells me numbers will even out long haul, same with doubles. Hit variety is good, I like the extra fielding animations and you really have to pitch carefully to keep your pitch confidence up as I fell victim to big innings a couple of times and was only up 4-0 going into the 7th in that last game before hanging a 7 spot because their pitcher got off his game and was hanging everything.

I think that is my overall problem is timing and swinging at good pitches. On game 2 of the series against the Brewers I blew a 1-0 lead in the 9th. Then won game 3 7-2.

Went back to the Yankees franchise and was down 9-4 to the Rays and came back and took a 10-9 lead and brought in Chapman and with 2 outs in the 9th he gave up 4 singles to lose the game. I might go back and try your sliders now that I feel I have timing down again.

                        Yankees 10 14 2 (4 HR, 4 doubles)
                        Rays 11 20 0 (4 HR, 3 doubles)

I am about to give up. I'm tired of hitting these little bouncers to the pitcher. I'm going to hit on Rookie. If that don't work I will go on Beginner. So pissed off.

What pitch speed? Maybe drop that a tic for both???

I only ask because I am also working on an All-Star hitting "Old Guy" version and currently using 3/5 for pitch speeds, because I had dribbler-it is at 4/6.

                              I think I had it on 4 and 6. I'm going to try 4 and 4.

Okay how do I get this?

I was playing on 5 on human contact, power, timing, and solid hits and I scored 10 runs on 16 hits last game with 0 HR and 4 doubles. This game I scored 8 runs on 17 hits with no extra base hits at all. I'm happy my offense showed up but geez.
