Yankees Make A Move For Verlander

The New York Yankees acquired veteran RHP Justin Verlander and the the 53MM remaining for 4 years. The Tigers wanted to rid themselves of the 35 yr old starting pitcher and his inflated contract. He is currently 6-8 with a 3.19 ERA and 1.20 Whip. In 2017 he went 14-10 with a 3.27 ERA and in 2016 16-9 with a 3.04.

“I feel great and ready to be a Yankee” Verlander told the NY Post. He is excited to be playing for a World Series Contender and is ready to wear the pinstripes with pride.

The deal was a large one.

    The Yankees sent:

    CF Aaron Hicks
    RP Tyler Clipart
    SP Rickey Coronado (B Prospect)

    For

    SP Justin Verlander
    SP Yohan Pinto (C prospect)
    LF Carlos Cuevas (D Prospect)

The question becomes....how much does Verlander have left in the tank and will he play out the rest of his deal in NY?

One thing is for certain.....Verlander is a gamer and will solidify the rotation which now looks like:

    Tanaka
    Gray
    Severino
    Verlander
    Hellickson

The Yankees take on the Red Sox for a three game set and the Braves for 3 games on a 6 game homestead before heading out on the road for a 10 game stretch vs Toronto, Baltimore and Cleveland.

Would lowering power to 4 while hitting on AS make a noticeable difference? I'm using the Yankees so I expect alot of bombs. That said I'm averaging 2.2per game and have 15 in 25 games with Stanton. Give it a bigger sample size? Try HOF which ive never hit at? Or lower power on AS?

I hear you bro but I would just rise the difficulty cause I was on veteran and was cracking 4 to 5 a game so I raised it too all star and probably hitting a few a game but I’m close to raising it to hall but I wouldn’t touch the sliders side messing with power will throw off more then just how far the ball goes

Move to HOF and play that for 25-30 games. Sounds like it is time.

I am playing on HOF and have 39 bombs with Judge.

Loving it. Something special is brewing with year 2 for me.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

I think the CPU hates me. After winning 9 of the last 12 we went on a 6 game road trip to Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. The Rays took 2 out of 3 and the Phillies swept us. 14-2, 5-4, and 6-2. We have lost 6 of the last 7 and 4 in a row. We traded Sabathia who had a 6.60 era for a C prospect to Colorado. We are 12.5 games behind the Red Sox for the division and have a 1.5 game lead for the 2nd wild card spot. Our record is 43-37 and we fell to .500 ball on the road. We are 11-12 in June so far and 12-23 since May 19th.

There was so many times that I had runners in scoring position with Judge and Stanton up and I would have a hanger right down the middle and they would swing and miss. Feedback says timing was good so they must have had holes in their bats.

Sanchez is out until August and Romine and Higashioka is not even close to what Sanchez was doing. We are 2-7 since his injury. We have been looking at Hamels, Duffy, or Fulmer for pitching but now we are deciding if we should go for Realmuto. The Marlins are asking for Chance Adams, Andujar, and Frazier. If we do that we could go with Hamels who is struggling with a 4.02 ERA or even Tyson Ross who has a 5.58 ERA. The only thing that concerns me on pulling the trigger is how real would the Realmuto trade be.

How does auto fielding work? I've always used manual. So the computer makes plays but I have control to make the throws? So my shortstop makes a diving play in the hole. If I press nothing no throw is made? Or I press the base I want to throw? I have control of him once ball is in glove?

I've read auto fielding provides much greater variance in the animations you see. Sorry for the noob questions....

Correct - if you use auto fielding but manual throws, you'll have to make the throw decisions. You have full freedom of movement once the player has the ball, correct.

If you use buttons, no meter - it works a lot like Classic pitching - you set the effort by holding down and an aggressive throw will have a rumble to it. A tap will have the player make a conservative throw. Your timing also dictates the aggression as it impacts when and where the player will try to "fit the throw in" (i.e. the branching animation system).

Accuracy and resulting power is set by the ratings. Your input just tells the player how aggressive to be (can impact animations and difficulty of the throw as a result).

With auto fielding, you'll also have to decide when to preload your throw. I've never manually fielded but the rhythm might be different since you're watching the player and how he's controlling his body/the angle he's taking and the type of play. Preloading early can be just as bad as preloading late, depending on the play.

Again, I've never done manual fielding, but you do get a nice variety of animations on auto fielding, especially once you get the rhythm for throws and when to branch into it from the player's fielding posture/animation.

What are your thoughts of firing and hiring managers during the season? The Yankees have a D manager in the game. Some players are unhappy from the coaching staff. I can hire a new manager that is a B. I can also upgrade my hitting coach from a C to an A. If I did I would sign the coaches for 1 year and see how I finish the year with them and deciding in the offseason. But I am wondering if I’m cheating the CPU by doing that? Or does it even make the team improve?

I fired my hitting coach 3 games ago after losing 8 of 10 and not hitting at all, especially with runners in scoring position. I’ve won all 3 since and my hitting has improved, especially in run scoring situations.

My new hitting coach is a +3 in contact and clutch but a -2 in bunting. But I play as the Yankees, and we don’t bunt.
