So in love with this game, the high and lows are so organic and just like real life. After a tough April filled with shaky starting pitching, my Twins sit at 37-32, with a 1 game lead of CLE. We have taken the first 2 of 3 in Cleveland and are going to try take what would be a huge sweep, but if nothing else at least settle for a solid 4-2 road trip.

Quick q: Mauer has been dreadful so far with a .429 ops. Do u guys think it would be realistic to dfa him or would the twins keep rolling with him in the 25 man since he is such an icon?

Anyone considering strike frequency at 4? Finding the cpu quite anxious to come into the zone and my understanding of the slider is that it affects how aggressive the cpu is in attacking the zone vs getting you to chase? Walks are a little low but I think it's mostly me getting 3 ball counts and then not seeing ball 4 before they throw a pitch I want to swing at...

I very rarely draw a walk without being in a full count first. The cpu usually attacks the strike zone anytime it has ball 3 on you.

I've drawn plenty of 4 and 5 pitch walks, sometimes you have to take pitches even if they're right there in the zone

Luv the sliders, but WTH is the deal with bunting?
It sucked last year, and I am still seeing the rocket bunts this year.
Hard to play with a N.L. team, because a pitcher sacrifices and it's a double play 75% of the time.

Any help is appreciated.

Most pitchers can’t bunt well. However to give yourself a chance right when the pitcher is releasing his pitch square. I have found that it really cuts back the rocket bunting. And players with very high bunt ratings still can bunt. But remember it is not automatic.

But I agree with the sentiment of that lousy fix they made for online cheesers. It has affected offline bunting too much.

Just to add about bunting, I (directional hitting) hold down and to the left or right when I bunt to help (4 or 7 oclock). I also try to release the triangle button (sac) as the pitch is coming in. If I'm bunting for a hit, I won't hit triangle till the pitch is almost on me.

I did go into practice mode and did this to get a better idea on timing.

Also make sure you are holding the L3 stick down if you aren’t already. That helps me a lot anyway

I’d get Mauer to change some gear. Maybe a different bat, gloves or cleats. Anything to bring a bit of luck! I’ve heard MLB players are a superstitious bunch.

So yes Game 6 was an epic. McCullers had more control issues he was out after just 2.2 innings walking 6! and giving up 3 runs.

The Indians carried a 4-3 lead into the 9th where Andrew Miller came in to close the door he got Correa and Springer pretty easily before Gattis came up. With the count 1-0 he just missed a HR down the LF line but it was just a sighter for the next pitch which he blasted to LF to tie the game at 4-4. Giles got through the meat of the order in the bottom of the 9th and pitched a solid 10th.

The 11th inning saw Correa get on before Springer blasted a HR to LF on the first pitch he saw to make it 6-4 Astros. Then after the Indians got runners on the corners with 1 out Michael Feliz came in and got the final 2 outs punching the Astros ticket to another World Series and continue their quest to repeat.

This time they’ll meet the Dodgers who also won in 6 games against the defending NL Champion Chicago Cubs. They won game 6 thanks in part to a Grand Slam hit by their SP Julio Urias!

Should be live with Game 1 of the World Series shortly.

Game 1 turned out to be the pitchers duel you might expect with Keuchel and Kershaw on the mound. No runs were scored until the 6th where the Astros got 2 and then 1 more in the 7th. which was enough for them to win 3-0. Their bullpen continues to dominate with another combined 3.2 innings where they allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk.

Game 2 will be later today.

So when do you just except that your sliders are good and giving you realistic results, but a guy on your team is just having a magical season?

Cause my sliders feel really locked in and team wise stats are pretty much right on. But Giancarlo Stanton is having a magical year, I'm talking like Triple crown and HR record magical.

My pitch speeds are up, my offense is not running away with stats, except for those tricky user walks everything is in line. Stanton has just been amazing.

He hit .250 with like 10-12 HRs after April, I can't remember exactly it's in the thread somewhere.

Now he's in the .340s 43hr 78rbi and I'm 12 games from the break lol. Honestly I feel like he's just having one of those magical years, cause he could fall off at any moment and go back to his .250 hitting self of April.

Idk just throwing the question out there. Armor?

I am totally locked in and having the time of my console baseball gaming life. And Greg Bird is having that “magical” year for me thru 7 weeks of the season (we are fast approaching the end of May already as I can’t stop playing my Year 2 Yankees franchise!). Bird leads all of Major League Baseball with 20 HR’s, hitting .320 and a SLG % north of .760. He is on a torrid MVP pace and I am loving the story line. I knew he would be a benefactor of having Stanton, Judge and Sanchez in front of him....but this is beyond what I thought so far.

Go with it. If you are having a blast do not get bogged down in the “every stat must be realistic” slog of slideritis. It will destroy your enjoyment of this amazing game. It will never be perfect.....ever. I am not walking enough CPU batters. I am not letting that get in the way of my enjoyment. It is something I learned to live with a long time ago with this series.

In the end it is a video game. We have user input. Despite the approach we use and believe me I strongly believe the settings and interfaces we use in this thread are the best way to enjoy and immerse yourself in a ratings driven baseball game experience, we are still using our “user skill” to hit, pitch and make managerial decisions.

The game is simply a joy and beyond any other sports game I have ever played in terms of realistic gameplay.

I am so over the ridiculous negativity of the general forums and the outright garbage being posted. This game is thus far a crowing achievement for SDS in terms of providing a realistic console baseball game.

So the bottom line is.....have that triple crown season. Have two of them!! Think about all the talk and hype after the Yankees acquired Stanton. I am on pace for a new MLB team record for HR’s and I am loving that. I am hitting dingers all over the park with this lineup! Just like I should!

Braves Franchise - year 1

I am 23-17, coming off a pitching duel contest against the Cubs, 1-0 win. Lost Acuna for possible 2 months getting injured on a awkward slide. I play every game but with Quick Counts.

Armors exact OP except:
All Star for pitching and hitting
CPU strike frequency at 4
Pitch speed sliders at 9/10
I do Auto field and base running

I broadcast all games.
