Mr Mike, I’m playing with your sliders & I am having a blast. I’m playing with the Texas Rangers & my record is 0-22 so far. Average score is 13-2.
Just kidding. I’m 5-4 playing Toronto at home starting my 3rd series.
Thank you for all your effort & time spent interacting with us on OS. Means a lot to me.

Is anyone else having trouble getting swings and misses from the cpu? Their miss rate is always sub 10% for me. Kinda frustrating seeing their PCI way off the ball but still making contact.

Hey Mike, are LRP innings better in 18 compared to 17.. are they coming in on consecutive games for 4+ innings at a time and in general, how do the RP appearances compare to 17

I have a strategy before each pitch. I'm only looking in one spot unless I have two strikes. My goal is to NOT have to move the cursor unless I see a mistake pitch in which I try and just clip below the ball to give it more launch trajectory (something that is overpowered in MLB The Show somewhat). Moving the cursor is the biggest variable in hitting, and it's a form of guessing in rapid succession--not a good strategy.

Now, where I'm looking may change pitch-to-pitch, even within the same AB; a lot can happen such as what is the pitcher throwing (or not throwing), am I trying to move baserunners over, do I prefer a groundball or flyball, etc. but when I step into the box, I know what I'm trying to do, and nothing is changing that.

I never use power swing. Ever.

I rarely take extra leads unless then player has an 80-85+ steal rating.

I've started using contact swing more this year, but it's still rare and based merely on the situation or a pitcher who I don't want getting too hot by striking out my SP.

Sometimes, but I generally trust my catcher.

For numerous reasons I don't have the patience to type up, throw more balls.

It's generally just as bad as the previous years. Sim community definitely needs some love!

But we can balance it quite well by using the slider adjustments in-game, during a bullpen switch, and while simming (see post 1).

I don't believe his reply was of the "dick" nature. Better swing and misses, just like in real baseball, can't be answered in one statement. Because the same thing isnt going to work from one batter to the next. Personally, I have about 40 games into my Twins franchise and I am in dead last in strikeouts (I know there is more to swing and misses than strikeouts). But my point with that is, is that I have begun "learning" how to pitch and have been gaining ground in my overall strikeout ratings. I have some pitchers that are way low and some that are higher. It depends on the pitcher. I have found what pitches work for certain hitters, what locations, and pitch sequences. A lot of it depends on if I hit my spots or not. I have had 10-12 strikeout games and also have had 2-5 strikeout games.

With all of that said, it really does come to throwing more balls. In all counts. Professional hitters don't really swing and miss a whole lot with pitches in the zone. If I had one small thing to say, it would be mix throwing balls outside the zone in all different types of counts. These balls outside the zone do have to be in the right spots, work it just outside, just inside, low, high, depending on the type of pitch you are throwing. Jam guys inside with 2-seam fast balls, changeups down and away, sliders outside, high fastballs just above the zone, etc. Sorry if it doesn't help, but it really is finding what works for each and every batter depending on the pitcher you have.

I feel your pain. Do you have to be selected at the plate. Go up there looking for a pitch you can drive then adjust to how the cpu is pitching to you. Honestly this the most realistic sliders I have used. You need a plan up at the plate. Don’t just go up swinging at everything.

100%. I can tell the difference with games where I have no plan or not paying much attention (Sidetracked) to where I have a plan at the plate and focused.

It is also a huge difference to play at daytime or late evening. My timing and patience at the plate are so different when I am tired. I get a lot worse the later it is. Don‘t know how you other guys account for that.
