Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders
I really don’t think solid hits is going to make the difference. Solid hits, as I interpret, is more like this
Ground balls/choppers<———->Fly Balls
So raising the fly ball rate will only create more fly ball outs, unless you exit a higher exit velocity with it. The easiest way is to add a notch of power, but that, paired with slower fielders, might cause all sorts of imbalances as rockets fly past both infielder and outfielders.
I am hoping better contact through timing might help the exit velocities. I would probably tweak power only as a last resort.Comment

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders
I’m not sure who to thank but ever since I changed my timing per markor I’ve been getting much better hitting results but not “video game type”numbers now I do have to take into it that they did a patch but still thanks for the feedback it’s been working well

Solid hits will affect exit velocities as will since solid contact with the ball will increase the exit velocity. The slider increases your chance of making superior contact vs good or weak. You are right about timing affecting it as well though. I think a combination of timing and solid hits will give much better results than touching power or contact.
Well. If anybody cares I’ve been doing default Legend hitting with the legend pitching with mikes sliders +1 cpu timing and +2cpu solid hits (mentioned above) and have loved it so far

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders
I'm still hitting on all star for God sakes lol. I moved up to hall of fame a few games back but got frustrated and moved back to all star. My discipline is not very good so I tend to swing at alot ot bad pitches but o recently changed my camera view to one that allows me to see the ball better so I'm doing much better. Love the sliders though.

My thoughts…well, I swing and miss A LOT. And patch 1.10 isn’t helping! For my own purposes after looking at my extra-base percentages, slightly lower HR total, low BA, and the fact that 1.10 made the PCI smaller, I am leaning toward increasing contact by +1 (6). Everything should get slightly better with more contact, including timing. IF that does not remedy the lower numbers, then I may increase timing one-notch as well.
I think other area that jumps out to me that is affecting my numbers is low walks. I know I have a lot of swings and misses, but my approach at the plate is pretty patient, and I work full counts pretty often, but am typically mowed down with either paint strike 3 looking or swinging. I have rarely seen easy walks. Most have required full counts with an eagle eye umpire judgment call to get the base. I am going to lower CPU Control -1 (4) to see if I can get a few more easy walks and baserunners.
Overall though I really like playing with these sliders. I am a Legend rookie, so I am starting to understand what it takes to pitch a solid game, manage my bullpen, and (hopefully) become more patient at the plate.
Going to go another 10 with the changes I have listed. I’ll report back!Last edited by FenwayMac; 05-25-2018, 05:00 PM.Comment

There is even one PCI type that has a dot in the middle. Use that one and you dont have to use your imagination. (You will still swing at plenty of pitches i promise. Because that pitch that you thought would hit your dot - probably wasnt going to. But it should be inside your pci circle now! Catch what im doin here?)
Of course with 2 strikes, youll need to move the pci, which is tougher. But hey, hitting with 2 strikes should be tough. Fun Fact: most strikeouts in MLB take place on 2 strike counts. So dont feel bad.Comment
