Lol. I changed subjects without warning, that was the problem. Went from discussing low HR numbers to talking about pitching percentages, which in this particular case should not have any effect on the other, because the percentages look a little bit better than before. I really just wanted to post to give an update on those percentages. My fault lol.

7 in 4 is not that crazy on that sample size. For reference: 2017 MLB season only 2 teams had less than 1 HR/G and league avarge was 1.26 HR/G. Yankees were the best at almost 1.5HR/G

How are the 2B numbers? Should be right about 1.7-1.8/G.

Over 2 users 40 combined games:

          CPU strike % - 63.6% (MLB 64%)

          CPU 1st pitch strike % - 61.7% (MLB 60.2%)

          Wild Pitches - .30/G (MLB .37/G)

          HBP - .46/G (MLB .34/G)

Walks have not seemed too easy overall, although we had one game with 9 walks and another with 7, and a few with 6. the rest have been between 1 and 4 per game, so it has averaged out ok.

Is this on Legend or HOF hitting? I’m assuming Legend. I actually switched back to HOF hitting recently. Wondering how strike % fluctuates between HOF and Legend.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders

              Hey all,

I have been curious to give these sliders a go for quite some time and finally decided to take the leap. I am going with the 1.45 sliders as listed in the vault and also jumping up to Legend for both hitting and pitching. I am going with the Pittsburgh Pirates, a decidedly middle-of-the-road team that could break either way. I really love the Pittsburgh squad, the ballpark and the division. Should be fun!

Needless to say the first game of the season has plenty to discuss!

I decided to retain Garrit Cole for my rotation, and he promptly rewarded me with a no-hitter! I THINK I may have pitched one other in my MLB the Show days, but nothing at this level. I was just in the zone.

It also helped that I had massive run support from the Pirates, but it was also unusual that the Tigers did not attempt to mount some form of comeback.

              here's the box

I am not going to make too much of one game. I will say that I really like the flow and pace of the game. The slower fielders and reaction really made for some nice animations in the outfield. It did not feel like I had cyborg athletes in all positions.

I had reservations about hitting on legend, but feel that the smaller PCI leads towards some different hit results that I was not necessarily seeing at lower levels. It's really not THAT much harder to hit on legend if you have a good plan at the plate and can control the PCI movement from being erratic.

I hit several extra-base hits, but nothing felt cheap and i definitely earned my HR with Dickerson. I also drew six walks. I don't expect that each game, but they are out there to be had.

If there is anything that bothered me about this game it was Detroit's unwillingness to pull Saupold was getting absolutely LIT UP. It felt like Drago pounding Apollo "Stop the fight!!". I had my hook at 9, so not sure why this happens, but I have seen the same issue will the hook at other levels as well. I believe it is just a game issue, but it certainly made a difference in my final stats as I pounded meatball after meatball.

Regardless, it was a fun time, and I am looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Wow! Nice man!! What an intro to the sliders though lol. Very cool!

Legend hitting is the HOF of previous years in my opinion. It's probably a little more difficult but seems like Legend on previous years was harder (HOF was harder as well) I love Legend this year. Just those dang home run numbers are low for me and can't figure out how to get them up.

Thank you for posting your stats also

Since I’m a pure analog guy increasing timing did the trick for me since timing controls my PCI. Still waiting on the CPU. How’s your pitch/swing info? Are your exit velocities reasonable? How is your timing? My feeling is that CPU will need some sort of bump on timing/solid hits. I think increasing power will yield too many other side affects.

Legend hitting is the HOF of previous years in my opinion. It's probably a little more difficult but seems like Legend on previous years was harder (HOF was harder as well) I love Legend this year. Just those dang home run numbers are low for me and can't figure out how to get them up.

I’ve been tinkering around with HOF again bc the homerun totals were driving me nuts. I’m only a couple games in so we’ll see. I tried making other aspects a tad harder, I put human timing at 0 for now.

Yep, no problem. Happy to share data. I pretty much threw BABIP out the window on this one but will track this and the pitching stats moving forward. I was really happy with the scoring variety from the first game. That triple was hit to the right spot by the right batter so it did not feel cheap. Good stuff.

Nice. Yeah every single time i hit a triple i have a question flash through my mind whether its a cheap hit. Lol. But over time with these sliders my triples numbers are right on point.

That was my thought also. I play Zone. I increased Human timing a notch for several a while back, but it cut my strikeouts by about 25%. I would like to stay up around 8 per game overall. Exit Velocities are good. I was tracking them for a while. I was putting about 5 100mph+ balls in play per game which is about right.
My issue is only on the Human hitting side.

I am not late/early too much either. But i am early more than late.

I am with you on Power. I increased it for a little while but it just wasnt right for several reasons.

I had to put timing back to where it was because i was putting too many balls in play and affecting babip. Balls in play look good. Only a couple of pop ups and choppers per game.

Currently i have bumped up solid hits for the last 5 games. While i actually like it better base-hits-wise, because more of my singles are soft to medium line drives instead of ground balls through the infield (in MLB less than 1 out of 4 ground balls result in hits - but im not as worried about that), i still only have 1 home run in those 5 games...(small sample but it seems the same, and i see no indication of HR change based on the dozens of peevious games.) The only time Ive seen HR/G get over 1 per game was when i put power at 6 for about at least 15 games. But it seemed to change other hit types too much to stay with it.

As it is, still a lot of squared up, good timing, good contact long fly balls being caught at the wall. I keep thinking "ok that one has to get out", and it looks like it could, then nope, out. Big power guys still hit Home Runs regularly, with some others mixed in. But teams without those guys just dont hit them much. Singles and Doubles per game are pretty much exactly right.

Im going to keep on with SH up a notch and see what happens. If this doesnt work im not sure what im going to do.

I appreciate the input. i can use all the ideas i can get right now. I dont know if there is something i could do mechanically any different, since everything else looks good but if there is something i can do differently i will try anything. All i know is i have played a lot of games, (with these and other sliders, on multiple franchises) and the larger the sample size gets, the more the trend is consistent.

Im not complaining in any way, because i love the game this year. Its just tough when you are seeing .60 HR per game as opposed to 2017 1.2 per game. Thats a significant difference.

Im curious how that works out. Ive never gotten realistic strikeout numbers on HOF but if you see them, let me know. Im not dug in on any difficulty level.

Well, small sample size but I teed off against mike leake. 4 home runs. Which I NEVER got on Legend. Next game went up against garret richards. Thru 9 I had 2 hits. 0HRs and he K’d me up 9 times. Ended up winning 2-1 in the 10th. Ended up with 5 hits. No HRs. So far I like the switch to HOF

What’s everybody’s strikeout numbers like when you’re pitching? I’m Cleveland so mine might be a tad high with kluber carrasco Salazar Bauer and clevenger (all around 80 k/9 rating) but I’m getting like over 10 every game
