Seems about right..as Ron Washington is the third base coach since last year (Braves) and they had a generic coach there in ‘17 but the thing that was odd was that the announcers would call his name out but it would be a different guy on the field in the coaching box and he’d look like “wash” but he’d be a white guy lmao.. I would think it would be something to patch if the announcers are calling out Cora’s name during the game...I don’t know maybe someone here who had Boston or hell even philly bc of Gabe Kapler.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders

Started a new franchise with the Padres after downloading the most recent OSFM roster and decided to give these sliders a try. I'm loving the overall aspect of games using these sliders so far (only a 3 game sample size). I love that the outfielders aren't all track stars and that the ball gets hit to the wall instead of having every outfielder catch everything I hit. You can even see the difference between the slower infielders and the faster ones. Also I love the pitch variety from the AI along with the swings and missed by both me and the AI. No more of those 11 pitch foul offs. I play on all star pitching and hitting (directional/Meter pitching) and the games so far have all been pretty close. The Padres dont have much power in the lineup but they have guys that have good contact and pretty good vision and I use that to my advantage by being patient and getting solid hits most of the time. Gonna stick with this franchise and these sliders for the time being and see how things play out further. Plus loving the fact that there are errors from both me and the AI now.

I’m one game past the all star game with the Red Sox and I just can’t tell you how great this game is playing with these sliders I’m 10 games under 500 lol but still loving it great work with the updates also mike

As for @NolanRyansSnowmonkey I told you I would get you my hitting stats.

I have tried to get the snip of my excel sheet, but i can't seem to get the image to work. Here is a hyperlink to the snip.http://s1070.photobucket.com/user/Ta...ilfpe.png.html

Over this 6 game span, we have scored 3.17 RPG and allowed 3.33 RPG

            8 XBH, 2 HR, as a team we're at 1 HR per 99 AB.

            .217 team AVG and .283 SLG% and .249 OBP

BABIP For my most recent game wasn't bad, .250 ish for both teams. Pitching stats were also in line with Mike's goals.

I either have to lower the difficulty or change sliders. The Pirates are at 29 AB/HR, I don't expect that but 1 per 99 is putrid.

I can see a large part of your problem by just looking at your walks. 8 walks in 6 games tells me you are probably swinging at a lot of bad pitches, which equals weaker contact, which lowers babip and XBH.

Get in your mind what you want to hit unless there are two strikes, and dont try to cover the whole plate. Maybe pick a quadrant and lay off strikes that arent in that quadrant. I try to get the opposing pitcher to 16 pitches per inning, which is MLB average. To do this, i have to lay off some pitches. There are good strikes to hit, and there are strikes that are almost sure outs if you hit it fair.

You should be walking 2.5 times per game minimum with these sliders i think and 3+ per game is very doable.

So, wait for your pitch, and your contact on those will be much better.

You mentioned babip isnt too bad at .250. If this was Batting Average you would be correct. But when it comes to babip, its actually abysmal. Once you get down to .285 babip, that is basically scraping bottom of the league bad and at that point you would have to decide if its bad luck, bad discipline, or you need to make a slider adjustment (This is for a full season, it can fluctuate in small sample sizes, but it still means you've either been very unlucky, or you need to make adjustments).

You definitely dont want to have a very low babip for more for a couple of weeks, and expect realism. Cleveland was the only team with close to a .250 babip a couple of weeks ago, while the next-to-last team was at .270. I havent checked, but i would bet my PS4 that Cleveland's babip is above .270 by now, because thats just what Babip does in MLB.

Hitting better pitches should bring that babip up. Otherwise, just need to tweak something.

Let them go. I try to lay off pitches up there. But otherwise...

One possible option could be to hold your pci a bit higher before the pitch, to get on top of balls more, and you are already there if its a high pitch. But, it could lead you to swing at even more high pitches you should be laying off, if youre not careful. Im not trying to catch up to those with less than 2 strikes though.

If youre dominated and absolutely cant get your pci to them, you could consider lowering pitch speed a notch to allow you to move your pci to the pitch a bit more successfully. High fastballs shouldnt always be easy to get to. If you are late a lot, or not pulling the ball enough, this might be an indication you could lower pitch speed and still get good results.

By the way, being under a lot of pitches is another indication of being late on swings, as a late swing will drop your Pci lower than where you had it.
"But, it could lead you to swing at even more high pitches you should be laying off, if youre not careful"... yep I do that all the time, no discipline

Marlins improve to 2-1 after beating the Cubs 8-6. We led 8-0 after the 2nd inning!

                    Cubs BABIP .345
                    Marlins BABIP .400

                    Marlins 31 AB, 11 H, 3 2B, HR (Ozuna), 5 BB, 5 K

Cubs 55% strikes, (50 first pitch)
Marlins 58% strikes (56 first pitch)

That's also what it does to me. I'll hold it up there. The pitch will come. It'll be dead center PCI and I'm late because i freeze. Or, it to be a low slider and i swing anyway [emoji23]

Didn't know that about BABIP, thank you. I think I've found part of my issue.

I keep my laptop next to me and immediately put results of the AB in. It sounds weird but today i did BP. No laptop. I was able to focus and square balls up. Even hit a few doubles and a Homer in 10 minutes or so. I think the laptop is kind of causing me to break my focus. And then I'll see that someone's k% is 22 and say okay don't strike out, then get really upset when i miss a pitch or two.

I know that sounds ridiculous, but i think when i play next I'm going to try to put results in after the game. Just focus pitch to pitch and not worry do much about inputting info.

Definitely do it after the game. I keep mine beside me too but I dont look at during the game. All the stats are still there after the game. I've tried it and it does break the flow and feel of the game and AB's. Plus it's just easier to put it all in after the game all at once.

How are you’re guys HBP numbers? Should be getting about 1 every 3 game as per MLB stats. I’m well short of that for now.
Love where the sliders are at so not touching anything.
