    Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

Had one of the best games all season earlier today. I again had the computer right in my heals as I staked a four-run lead early, but this one felt pretty decent as I fought off several rallies with some critical pitches and plays. I had a dramatic wall-scraping homerun And a couple solid fist-pump moments. Good scoring variety in this one as well. It’s nice to see the bats coming alive for a change.

My bats have been coming alive too. Offense is a blast. But my record stinks lol. Thats ok though even though it frustrating, the games are a lot of fun. I just scored 6 runs on 11 hits against the Astros. Unfortunately they scored 8 on 11 hits lol. They had one double and 2 HR. Altuve had a very agressive triple, and would have been out if the throw wasnt offline. I was shocked he tried it.

I am on the verge of being swept by the Astros, so hopefully i can stop it.

Get this - the Astros have started the season 15-0. Yes you read that right. They are undefeated and trying to make it 16-0 against me. Never seen anything like that in the Show, but it is impressive to watch. I scoreboard watch them even when im not playing them.

A couple games back I had a triple against me that hung in the air forever. I went to the replay to where it hit the wall and the runner was practically to 2nd by the time it hit.

One thing I have been doing lately is letting the catcher call some pitches. I have been done in by this a few times, but have gotten better and knowing when his call is garbage and doing my own thing. I don’t always choose his location, but will go with the pitch choice. Again, I don’t heavily rely on the catcher, but it is kinda fun and occasionally he helps get me out of trouble.

Small sample with dropping the CPU contact, but I can say the games suddenly feel more fun again.

I actually play the exact same way with the catcher. I shake him off if i don't like it, but i usually go with his call, and my own location if i don't like his.

My problem is ive played against some really good offensive teams to start the season. Im ready to play some average teams for a change lol

            Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

Just wanna say these sliders have been amazing for me so far. I use them exactly as you have them on the first page, the only change I do is lower Hum control and consistency to 1 and 1. (Thanks to SnowMonkey) for this idea.

I have had all kinds of variable results. Ive gotten blown out plenty of times but I can also pitch gems once in a while with good pitchers. I threw a complete game 2 hit shutout with Sean Manaea of the A's against the Indians. I felt really good about that because I had been getting smashed lately by the CPU. I had a series where Trout went deep on me 5x in one series. I also just finished a game where I hit a 520 ft homer with Nolan Arenado at Coors. I got that one captured on video lol. It was to left field and went completely out of the stands and bounced on a structure behind the stadium. Longest one I have hit this year.

I will play a few more games with these before I start my Franchise. I've played about 25 games with them so far. I honestly think the CPU offense is perfect as it is. They are a huge threat especially the stars and I love that. As for Hum offense, I feel like sometimes I am a bit too potent at the plate, but I am not sure what to change. Maybe contact down to 5? I avg. about 10 hits a game as it is now.

Welcome aboard and thanks for giving the sliders a go! I appreciate it! Definitely rate and leave feedback as it helps future versions.

For your offense, everybody is a bit different. The contact and power are going to play a major role in your batting average as well as hit type percentages, so I would probably tweak those last.

Something you may try is lowering your timing a bit. How many times do you strike out a game? You could also raise the CPU pitch consistency a notch to help them pitch to the paint a bit more. Also maybe increase pitch speeds to make hitting more challenging.

One more thing than will affect your hitting is fatigue and morale and these will occur naturally the more games you play. All things to consider.

Let me know how it goes!

                Awesome man.

I seem to gain about 1 hit per game when i move contact from 5 to 6, without affecting other things too much, long term. It sounds like a good adjustment to me - unless - you have had a strange game or two mixed in which inflated the numbers.

If you played a 17 inning game for example, and got 20 hits.. or if you had a 9 inning game somewhere that you just rocked the other team, it may be that the numbers are just inflated over the small 25 game sample, and it should even back out. Maybe take that game (if it exists), and its hits, out of the equation and recalculate.

It also could be that your team is just hot but that is difficult to determine.

Also, if these games were Spring games, and you played your starters most of the game, they were probably doing some hitting against sub-par pitching. This could also add an extra hit or two per game.

If any of these are the case, i would try leaving it as-is to start the season and see what happens. If not, i think lowering it to 5 would be fine.

I was writing mine at the same time, so wasnt meant to contradict.

This great advice as well. Timing does make a difference. And thinking back, my HR's was a tad bit low when i had Contact at 5. What is your batting avg through 25 games? How many HR?

                    Something is definitely wrong.

I just threw a complete game 3-hitter against the Astros, allowing only 1 run, a solo shot in the 5th. I had 5 runs on 12 hits.

Not only that, i beat the Astros and snapped their 16 game winning streak, and - i didn't get swept!

                    What did i do wrong??

Just wrapped a get-well series against the hapless Reds. They did end up taking the finale in extra, but overall everybody is starting to click.

I have to say that each of the games since the contact drop have felt really realistic and have been a blast to play. The feel of each game has varied as well, as you will see by the scores. We’ll see how it progresses.

Another beautifully played game and another loss in the column. It felt great but i couldn't plate more than 3 runs, and left 8 on base. Reminds me of a certain real MLB team this year. Cant remember their name...

Loving these sliders Mac. The game finally feels fun to play again, without losing realism. Great work.

My only gripe is I may not be striking out enough. I have a small sample size so I'm not sure yet, but I guess I should lower Human Timing if I need to make a change? Your thoughts would be very much appreciated. Awesome stuff man!

I personally lowered human timing to 4 near the beginning of my season, just for that reason, and i am striking out close to 8 times per game. My HR and 2B numbers still look great. I don't usually use contact swing to stay alive on 2 strike counts, but i do use it very occasionally in certain situations.

Here are my hit type percentages to date:

                              1B 66.9% (MLB avg 66.8) [2018 Rangers 63.1]
                              2B 17.6% (19.6) [20.7]
                              HR 14.2% (11.6) [14.1]

My doubles were actually high until about 6 games ago, when i hit a doubles drought. I expect it to come back up. Loving it.

Thanks for giving the sliders a try! Let me know if you have more questions.

For strikeouts there are a few tweaks you can do without disrupting the balance of hit type percentages. I would first try lowering your hit timing, or you could increase the pitch speeds, or you could increase pitcher consistency and control to make their pitches stay on the paint more.

Whichever you choose, give it several games to gage whether it is causing more k’s.
