Man....I can't believe you guys are trying to make pitching harder, I'm struggling to control the CPU offense with the straight OP settings right now (regardless of who I use)
It's actually pretty refreshing in a way though. I know one thing, once I do "right the ship" I won't be worrying that the sliders are 'too easy'.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Just want to say thanks this is a great set of sliders. Haven't played a version of the game since 2016. The games I've played so far have been varied and a lot of fun. One game I get crushed next I'm dominatinf other times it's a battle for all 9 innings.

Ultimately, I have just one issue at all with this set, and it that I strike out far, far less than the average rate (a little less that half....). If I can get by that somehow while keeping everything else steady? Yeah these are fun.

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
JoshC, I was catching up on your last stream and saw you went through your sliders and you have hum/cpu contact at 6. Are you testing that, or is that a change now?Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
You know how people work on sliders and rosters on weekends, they post something on Sunday night and you go, "Oh man, I have to go back to work on Monday....I wish I could've played with these over the weekend". Well, I'm not going to do that to ya'll....
In the game's slider descriptions of the control/contact sliders, it recommends that if you raise/lower one, you raise/lower the other. With respect to the CPUs 'plate approach', this is essentially what I've seen....
Higher CPU contact - more swings (worse discipline)
Lower CPU contact - fewer swings
High User control - fewer swings
Lower User control - more swings
Here's the issue with the OP. There's essentially an imbalance in their approach, they take fewer swings. We don't want them flailing out of control, but we also want them to go after pitches a bit more. They are essentially patient to a fault, so unless you're using a high K/9 guy, it can be tricky to get them to attack pitches. If you're patiently painting corners, you're leaving a lot up to the umpires.
Now, that would imply that we should match contact/control sliders. We could do that at 5, but remember one thing, we also have solid hits at 4...so that setting favors pitchers. So, to offset that, we're going to establish CPU contact at 6. It will allow for more balance to the plate discipline (i.e. more swings).
On the user hitting side, it's not bad with the OP; but the CPU still throws a lot of pitches in the zone; so we're going to raise User Contact to 6. We want THEM to fear the hitter and throw more pitches on the periphery (approach-wise). From there, control ratings and confidence will help drive misses in the zone. It will making hitting tougher while rewarding good plate discipline and good swings.
So....the proposed change is to raise both CPU and User contact to 6.
Now...this is not about making the game easier/harder, but about re-establishing balance in the game. Balla and I have each played a couple of games and absolutely love the feel we've been seeing. It feels a little less 'biased' and more true to ratings and user input. This is NOT going to suddenly turn the game into an offense-fest...so like anything, just give it a good shakedown....I think people will enjoy the tweak.
We're still in testing mode, so I will not add to the OP right now. But, as it is the weekend, I wanted to give folks a chance to play with these. If I were to follow my pure gut feeling, I'd nail these down in a heartbeat....but I'm going to give it the remainder of the weekend just in case.
Hope ya'll enjoy! I know I will bePlay the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Hey Josh. Hope your having a good weekend. Hi was watching your twitch stream of your game. I wanted to know your camera setting are they as is posted on your sliders? Just curious the game just looked different with your camera settings so I’m wondering if I may not of chose properly or if you made some adjustments to your very own personal tastes. An lastly I can’t go through all the pages but are you totally satisfied with the lack of outfielder assists. Is that something we give up to get the kind of excellent gameplay you have laid out for us? Thanks for your answers in advance. If you have already discussed it you can just give me a heads up I’ll be sure to review everything once again don’t want you to have to re-examine something you have done a lot.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
I keep a spreadsheet of everything. It is fun for me to track everything. I track my record with each home plate umpire. With my Yankees series I have had the same umpiring crew for 3 series in a row. I’m sick of seeing Rusty Valentine and company. Even though I’m 11-8 with that crew. I have played the most 5 games with a bunch of umpires and I have 1 umpire I never had yet. I seem to can’t get the Kingsley crew as I only have had them 5 out of my 67 games.Follow me on Twitch

Camera settings are correct on the OP.
Runner aggression is tricky as it is HEAVILY driven by ratings (much like how SB attempts are driven by that rating). I'm looking at one possible approach but we need to be careful as we can easily trigger other issues....Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Josh did you ever test 5/5 for User pitching and CPU contact? The reason I ask is because I feel like my pitchers are just way too accurate on 6. If I get any confidence at all I can pretty easily put the ball wherever I want with my entire pitching staff. I do have the best staff in the league in my opinion in the Rays but it still feels OP at 6. I'm about to stream with them at 5/5. I will definitely put my contact at 6 though because my hitting is definitely not OP and I would love to see the CPU work the corners and outside the zone more, so excited to check that out.
