    Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders

About to give the OP sliders a go. Will report back shortly.

Edit: I just finished a game against the Brewers with the Reds and won 4-2. Both teams had 8 hits (Brewers had 2 doubles, Reds had 1). Overall I loved the feel of the game...the hit variety was great. No long balls in this one, however. I've hit 2 in 6 games so far but I'm hoping the power gets going in my upcoming road trip. My offense as a whole has been awful with '19.

With contact at 6 I was worried about strikeouts. I struck out 10 times and struck out 8.

I'm going to stick with these for a while. I've been struggling with sliders this year and was starting to get slideritis. Thanks Josh for this set!

I've played 3 with the update and I'm hitting like crazy. 7 homers in those 3 games. I starting using the retro camera for the first time and I think that's why I'm on a hitting tear.

Try to ignore game to game stats for a 10-15 game period then look at the totals over that stretch.

I’m guilty of looking too closely into single game sample sizes when we make a change. There are so many variables in play: hot/cold streaks, wind, bad luck, good luck... it’ll drive you crazy.

I’ve now seen both sides of it since the latest update. I’ve had terrible offensive games, great pitching games, and then last night I get lit up for 8 runs.

Instead, try to consider the “feel”. Does it look right on the screen and in your hands? For me, it definitely does. Now I’m starting to see some cpu offense, which has been my missing piece.

I’ll be riding with the OP unchanged for the next 40-50 games, if not more. Have never had a better feel.

I seriously rake with Retro too. I had to abandon it for balance, I just pick up the ball too well on that view for some reason.

Retro is great for visualizing pitch location (and I needed that for pitches down in the zone). But, since it is a straight-on view, swing timing is more difficult. If you're good at timing your swing, then yeah, this camera might not work for ya. (I'm inconsistent with my timing, so it works very well for me in balancing out the improvement in angle)

Most people switch cameras because they are struggling - but I love the mindset here in making a change to add more challenge (or at least get rid of something that was giving you a boost).

Absolutely, I have always felt that hitting view is a much larger factor in than a lot of people tend to realize.

I'm a little less comfortable, but can still pick up the ball out of the pitchers hand, in '16 (and it's one of the wide views so I can also see the base runners).

I use Fish Eye. I like it for the views of the stadium. Is that probably the hardest?

Depends on the person and what you personally struggle the most with when hitting.

I first struggled but now I’m used to it. I would probably struggle if I switched to a different camera.

I'm gonna ride with it for a bit since I struggled with hitting for so long. I may need to go back to my previous camera eventually though if it doesn't even out.

The very first game I used it I hit more home runs than I ever had in the game previously. 3 with one player that game. I was shook lol. I'm gonna roll with it for awhile but at the moment it feels too easy.

Definitely over. Now it seems to be the opposite lol. My hitting stats were so bad though I think it'll be ok for awhile to get them up.

Yes....I truly think it's on an individual basic. Seriously my at bats with fish eye remind me of an episode of Benny Hill trying to play cricket to Yakkity Sacks.

A lot of people like Wide, too, bit the ball comes in weird to me. I hit way to many pop ups and get jammed a lot.

Love the set. Been having some really good games since using your slider set after going straight default all star since getting the game in March. That said, I've been pitching on Pulse since getting the game and have been trying to use Classic pitching per the OP but have had some trouble. So for high velocity pitches am I suppose to hold the button then wait for the vibration before I unpress the button (x, square, triangle, etc...) and for breaking pitching am I suppose to simply press the button and release immediately?

That's what really confuses me. I would love to use Classic pitching full time but I have trouble with accuracy and I know it's based on pitcher ratings but I know there's a skill to classic pitching as well.
