Post #3 is going to be the new NEWS WIRE for our 1990-2007 Fantasy Flashback S.F Giants Year 2 Franchise.
I have decided to feature this particular franchise along with our long running Yankees Year 5 (almost at the All-Star Break and a huge, awesome update is forth coming folks).
I have already streamed the first 6 games of the 2018 season for the Giants and if you have not caught this franchise yet, I highly recommend it. The team is a really diverse bunch. Great speed up and down, some big power bats, superb athletes and some really great prospects down on the farm (and a couple already up with the big club). A truly unique roster and a unique universe.
This roster is available on MLB 17’s vault. If you still have that game....(and 18-19) I would suggest if you love fantasy draft classic baseball.....to get it before the vault closes down for good. You can then draft a team on MLB 17 and then do the following if you want to get to year 2 on MLB 20:
1. Draft your team on 17 and start the season
2. Once the regular season starts you can transfer it via Y2Y saves to MLB 18
3. Play out Year 1 on MLB 18 and once you advance to January 2018 on MLB 18 move it over to MLB 19 then right to 20 and start year 2 (advance to the spring training on MLB 20).
It is a truly unique and well balanced roster in the same vain as the Strat-O-Matic 1980’s roster. But it covers the 1990’s and the first decade of the 2000’s player wise. Really awesome roster folks.
I hope you all follow along as we play Year 2 and beyond. The team is really strong. We went 80-82 in year 1 as we focused on youth a lot in year 1 but the progression was strong going into year 2 and payroll wise we are set up incredibly well to be able to sustain this team for several years!!!
We are truly immersed in our rosters and franchises on MLB 20 and will be here for a long time. I am sorry to those that were hoping for an MLB 21 slider set.....but we have moved on. The game simply does not touch my personal wants and needs. Yes....it plays solid...no doubt. But...it is missing far too much of what I enjoy:
Classic rosters
My ability to carry on my long running franchises
My ability to play all the classic rosters from MLB 20
Lousy AI trade logic, something that was touted as improved has been arguably made worse
A terrible check swing mechanic on HOF level (I have played it....it is a tragedy what they did to check swings and this is the start of online wants invading ratings based play)
Sounds of The Show is now extinct on the PS5 version of MLB 21 which is a game breaker for my personal immersion. I take great joy in using the full monty and power of SOTS in all my franchises whether they are modern day or classic as I have classic sound packs and legend sound packs plus 70’s and 80’s themed sounds....so we really get into the meat and potatoes of using this incredibly deep and immersive feature. The fact it was taken away and no notice of this was given till basically 48 hours before early release is incredibly bad business.
Color palate changes that for me are not as pleasing. And that is personal.
Really zero updates to franchise mode that has any substance to truly making the the mode better. And to be frank......I am happy playing MLB 20 with franchise mode in it’s current state....I never expected monumental changes. But when you take away Y2Y, and SOTS and the ability to simply import rosters at least from MLB 20 and then put out a bug ridden game with no impactful updates to ease the sting......yeah...no thanks.
The community has been asking for:
Expanded rosters - Nope
Better scouting and deeper draft - Nope
Rotating Inter-League Schedules - Nope
Re-freshed Play by Play and Color - Nope
Full Single A ball - Nope
Look.....bless you guys who are enjoying 21....like I said the gameplay is great (except that new check swing decision....I freaking hate it). But incremental gameplay improvements simply did not justify me leaving 10’s of thousands of hours of content behind...that I play and enjoy. It is all about what is important to you as the player....and it is quite obvious what is important to me.
I hope SDS can bring back their genre changing features (Y2Y, SOTS) to bring me back. But I have high doubts they ever do in the near future if ever.
Anyway......enjoy the game whether it is 21 or sticking with MLB 20. I will keep the thread alive for those who still enjoy and love MLB 20 and as long as there is interest in the franchises I have going.
Peace to everyone.
