PS5 arrived yesterday. Transferred data overnight. First game of ‘20 on the 5 this morning...unreal. So crisp and smooth. Just wow.

First, are you playing with power at default or 4? I'm currently leading the majors in pretty much every offensive category, which I don't necessarily mind, but I'm going to wind up with 4-5 guys with 30-40 homers.

Secondly, what's your method for stealing bases. I'm the worst. I wish the manual steal actually worked but it doesn't. If we could hold down L2 and release when we want to break that would be great, but it's never worked for me. So I have to rely on the one click L2 and then hope my runner gets a good jump, which 75% of the time he's thrown out by 5-10 feet and had a terrible jump.

Yes this is the best way. Be sure to release L1 as soon as the pitcher makes his move towards the plate.

Yes this is the best way. Be sure to release L1 as soon as the pitcher makes his move towards the plate.

Correct. Pre load the steal when the pitcher comes set and then hold L1. The moment the pitcher commits home release.

If you are in a 1st and 3rd situation make sure you are pointing the LS at the runner on 1st (point it at the 3 o’clock position) when you pre-load and hold down L1 so only the runner on first steals.

Also I steal in certain counts.

Never first steal on the first pitch unless you are thinking hit and run. Typically the CPU is very aware with a good to great speed/steal guy. Also they typically love to throw pitch outs on 1-0 counts. It is simply a product of weak programming and a predictable CPU pattern.

Counts I favor are 2-0, 3-1, 2-2, 3-0 These are ideal steal counts for the most part. So be patient and work the counts when you are trying to get a runner to 2B via the steal.

I rarely go on 0-1, 0-2 (in fact never on these counts). They love to waste pitches or pitch out here.

Very very rarely on 1-0 or 0-0. I rather work the count to 2-0, 2-1 or 3-1 when trying to steal.

The roster you created (2003) is insanely great. All of them have been. And I look forward to you landing a PS5....because when you do you will fall in love with MLB 20 all over again.

You just don’t know...till you have it on the PS5. It is butter.

I have yet to land a PS5...like most folks But was wondering what is the difference in how 20 looks and plays on the PS5? I know people mention smoothness, but on the PS4 Pro, I don't have any hiccups really wen playing. Yes, some of the cut scenes may show a little slow down, but I usually skip through the dugout shots, etc anyway.

Where do you find the greatest improvement when playing 20 on the 5? I am going to get one some day...and am sticking with 20.

Playing the game at a true 60 FPS and 4K really brings out the best in it. Lot’s of beautiful graphical details now pop off the screen (Equipment, uniforms, shadows and lighting) it really is a “wow” type of feeling playing 20 on the new hardware. A huge surprise in fact. Gameplay is buttery smooth...even more than on the Pro and you really can’t explain it. You will see and feel it.

I, like you had been playing on the Pro and throughly enjoying it....but now? Man. Once you land a PS5 (and you will if you are persistent and get on twitter for restock alerts as that is how I landed mine) you will really love it even more. A nice improvment and QOL as well as load times are lighting fast now.

Make sure you install the game on the PS5 hard drive vs playing it off an external HDD (I have a 2TB external with all my PS4 games on it).

I did have to reset all my SOTS.....but it is so worth it.

Some Yankees Year 5 nuggets as we close in on finishing the month of June (and we will do a full mid season report thru June including around the league updates, and trade rumors!):


Rookie CF Walter Ryu (3rd round 2018 rookie pick) is simply been a revelation. Since Spring training he is been hitting the cover off the ball and is firmly entrenched as our lead off hitter. Clint Frazier last seasons starting CF is not a happy camper.

SS Trea Turner a day after coming off the IL sprained his MCL sliding into home and is back on the IL along with starting 2B Tyler Wade. The Yankees have Tim Curry and Nick Solak up the middle as they await the return of those two.

Currently we are on a 5 game winning streak as we swept the Reds and are on the edge of sweeping the hapless A’s,

Aaron Judge has finally broken out of his season long slump. He has been on fire the last 5 games.

Catcher Gary Sanchez has also been on an absolute tear and is firmly entrenched as the starting catcher (2nd year catcher Julius Cooley is his now back up).

A big trade went down between the A’s and Rays right after our game 2 win over Oakland. Details to come when we do our big mid season update. But it was a good trade for both teams for sure. The Rays are battling with the Yankees and Red Sox in the AL East (all three teams right there for the lead).

Look forward to providing a detailed update!!! In the meantime join me on the streams or watch them on replay to keep up with this epic Yankees Year 5 franchise. It really is a great one. So many cool storylines, players developing we drafted.....just a lot of depth!!!

Can the Yankees win their 2nd straight (3rd overall) World Series in this franchise?

I had something happen that was weird. I put my game in rest mode when I was done. I came back and the game wouldn’t turn on. So I had to turn the game on with the button on the console. It eventually came on but it said it had to repair and asked me if I want to fix and report it. I turned the game back on and pretty much it acted like I just installed it. Asked me what my favorite team was and what level. I lost all my SOTS. Even in the jukebox. So I will have to upload everything again.

I had all the music uploaded but luckily only had one team complete.

I'm guessing your talking about the PS5? If so there has been a rest mode issue since release and I've seen tons of people advising no one put there ps5 in rest mode as there is still no fix.

Yeah, my PS5. So now bad news. I went to upload the music on the USB and it says file is corrupted 0 songs uploaded. I went back and deleted the file and reload the team and it still wouldn’t work. I even just went and tried to upload one file and it still wouldn’t work.

I’m really hoping I didn’t break my PS5. I might try to get a new USB tomorrow. Any ideas or suggestions?

I didn’t try that. I thought maybe it was the USB. I fired up MLB 20 and those same files loaded fine there. So I uninstalled the MLB 21 and installed it. It now works. I loaded the 7 and it worked. So I did the Brewers and Cubs files and loaded 73. They said 2 of them were corrupted but I got 71 to load. Just weird.
