I’m not interested in ‘23 either. I’m a 59 year old baseball fan and am very happy playing a Yankees and Phillies franchises with 2022 rosters on ‘20. I bought a PS5 solely to play ‘22 and was VERY disappointed.

I’m sticking with ‘20 for the rest of my “career”

All kidding aside. I too am a what you might call an old timer. 52 here. There is so much baseball knowledge from many of us that have played , coached and just studied the game it’s unreal. Todays game does not appeal to me like the 70’s 80’s and 90’s era did because that’s what I grew up on and that is how I learned to play the game. I feel that MLBTS 20 captures that style of play along with the sliders set by Armor and the rosters that all these masters have created. By far my favorite thread on OS and it is a pleasure to talk to all of you about this amazing game!

I am the same, although I am considerably older than you. When I started watching the Cardinals they were still playing at Sportsman’s Park.

I love the historical rosters, I have one going from the 60s with the Cardinals and one from the 2000s with the Rangers. Fun stuff and such a huge loss on SDS part for not reimplementing that feature. A lot of work by all of these roster makers just sitting on the back burner. This is why I will always play 20 even if I upgrade to 23.

Speaking of 23, I did the beta test and I really like the improvements to base running on both sides but the hitting engine seemed off to me again. Anyone else see this when they tested?

Don’t we always preach sample size when it comes to making decisions on games. Tech test was only a few days. Hard to say if hitting got better or worse. Not enough sample size.

Hitting has not been as good as 20 for 2 years straight. If it has truly went back to the way it was on 20 I feel like we would have heard that by now. Either way we still have 20 and that is fine by me

Yeah for as long as I have played this series it was fairly easy to feel the hitting engine has not changed from 21-22.

It’s a non starter for me. And that sucks. Because the game is absolutely beautiful in motion. Defense is butter.

Yes we preach sample size and I still occasionally play the beta, so I have had quite a few games played. I have been playing this series since 2006, I have a good feel for things like hitting. The main thing was I asked for others opinion.

The only way this series could ever catch my attention again is if it went totally customizable with Y2Y saves. I am very grateful that they gave us 20 before the change. MLB The Show 20 is the only baseball game I have ever played that feels like the bat is in my hands. You can actually feel it when you make good contact or catch something on the end of the bat or handle. I can understand the changes they have made trying to emulate today's game but it's just not for me. I hope everybody enjoys the game from here on out and I miss running out and getting it every year at 12:01 A.M. but I haven't bought the game since 20 and I'm fine with that. I am all in on 20 from here on out unless major changes happen in the future.

I couldn't believe it (and I am old)

#1 pitches weren't too fast (and I faced a guy with a 95mph FB)
#2 ball physics looked even better
#3 hit variety shined even more


Small sample size, but I am going to play a few "test" games to see if it's sustainable.

It’s funny Dowie, I’ve been using Retro hitting view for a little while now and I also recently tried max pitch speeds too. It looked and felt really good to me

The two best modern day rosters available IMO are the one you mentioned in Canadeion….and Brinskies 1000 hour 2021 roster.

BostonRob os working on a 2023 roster as well right now.

But the 2021 and 2022 mentioned above are simply outstanding! You can’t go wrong with either.
