Dead serious, I do the exact same. Armors sliders for hitting, Josh(Default) All Star pitching w/ my house rules. I use...gasp....QC for every game, and API for the pitching. Since it's on All Star, I let the ratings play out, and only pitch what the catcher calls, and the location he calls.

Yea that might be handicapping my pitcher in a way but I absolutely enjoy it. Have lost plenty games based on it, with having 10+ Ks. I'm not ashamed pitching on AS.

I just really don't get how people aren't loving 20. It's an amazing game, I usually play about 4 to 6 games a day and don't even want to stop.

The Show isn't about playing 1 great game(Like Madden) but how a series or a month of games play out. Feel like too many people are looking for the perfect great game every game, and that's not what the Show is.

Don’t get me wrong, this game is still damn fun to play, but this aspect really breaks the immersion and is damn frustrating.

I’m with you completely. I haven’t played in a good 4-5 days now. I’ll play again eventually, just not sure when. If I get to the point where all I’m doing is complaining, which I did, I just put it aside for a while.

That is not what “baseball” is.

It is a true test of your mental strength and being able to overcome a lot of failure.

I never...ever get upset when I absolutely piss on a ball and it finds leather. How can you lose confidence when you do everything right. You sat on a pitch, you had a perfect swing, you barrel up a ball right on the screws and then you line out to left.

Dude I beat the pitcher. He knows it....his mother knows it. I beat him.

        Move on.

        Great hitters line out more.

I have gone a month lining out a lot with guys......and then you know what? The next month they start finding all the holes and gaps.

        That’s baseball.

How much failure can you deal with? If you cannot deal with failure.....go play soccer.

I play with API on and let the catcher call the game, I'd say i go with 95% of his recommendations. Striking out anywhere from 8-14 guys a game with all pitchers combined. Getting out of tough jams is so rewarding when you K someone like Bryce Harper with man on 2nd and 3rd. The API does a really good job.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

Just to add context, just finished my 1st game for today....11 - 2 W, hit 4 HRs, 19 hits, struck out 9 batters between starting pitcher and 1 relief guy.

Now you'd think I'd say I hit way too many HR's and good hits, sliders need to be adjusted? NO, because I was the Phillies vs the Pirates and the Pirates are 1 of the bottom 5 teams in the league.

I feel like the game played out exactly as it should have, great offense vs a bad low rated pitcher. And it was a warm up to the next series having to face a top 5 team in the Dodgers.

You can't even judge the game on 1 series, as I just swept the Pirates almost easily. My series before against the Braves? They swept me.

My advice to people who aren't enjoying it? Find a balance, stick with it, and let the games play out.

Every level in this game is tunable; people need to find the one that makes them happy and then tune it to their tastes. It isn't rocket science.
If I drop down to All-Star pitching is just too easy for me. I like the challenge HOF presents and can win games just fine. Sometimes I get shelled and sometimes I don’t. No issue there.

My problem is the CPU seems to get an increase in plate discipline with 2 strikes and far more often than not will not swing at anything outside the strike zone, even if it is borderline.

I am happy for those who are not having this issue, but unfortunately I am, for the 2nd year in a row, and pitching does not mimic what I see in real life.

I thought all star would be too easy too even after I upped timing by 1. Low and behold the white Sox absolutely pummeled my 91 overall mike clevinger

Have you TRIED All Star this year? If you have and it doesn't work for you...then it is what it is (you CAN and WILL get better at pitching on HOF over time). If you haven't, I'd implore you to not allow past experiences from previous games affect your willingness to try it this year.

I'm not trying to talk you out of HOF, but you might be happily surprised as to how good the CPU is on default AS if you give it enough games.

In regards to pitching, you gotta know your staff.

Certain pitchers I have to pitch to contact, as their velocity isn’t up here (Tanaka, JA Happ).

Others with velocity I tend to be a little more aggressive.

                    My last 4 outings:

                    Happ: 6 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 1 K, 0 BB

                    Paxton: 5 IP, 5 H, 6 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 2 K

                    Cole: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

                    Tanaka: 6 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Highly agree, for those having trouble, not having fun, at least try All Star if HOF is not working for you. And not just 1 game, but multiple games, think you'll be surprised. Yea some games will feel easy, but take in to account who you're pitching against.

I trust HOF w/ Armors Sliders, I watch every stream of his games and see what he can do on HOF. I just can't do the same, and went to All Star pitching.

My last week of playing 20 on All Star pitching has been more fun to me than 19, and I loved playing 19. And yea you can get rocked on AS, I've had games where the pitcher is just not getting anything and gotten shelled.

Why 10 out of the gate for injuries in played games? Wasn't it 9 in 19? Wouldn't you need a bigger sample size?

Absolutely. I’m not expecting to strike out many batters unless I’m on a roll with Nola and Wheeler.

I do not see my current Phillies team at the top of the league in strikeouts. That is not very realistic given my current staff.

These sliders are on point and its pretty much default.

I switched to directional hitting. Its so much better. I moved up to HOF and its more my skill level.

Ive been reading through the thread. Just my two cents on the game. This year is the best baseball ive played video game wise. I think the most fun i had was ken griffey jr. Baseball on super nintendo. Man i loved that game.

Like armor said sliders arent going to fix issues you guys are seeing. Its in the difficulty setting.

Some advice. If your new start on dynamic and find where your skill level is by just playing the game. Use preseason to get down your level then stick there.

Mix and match. Last year i played on all star batting and hof pitching because i was better at pitching and not so good at batting.

Just because armor has his set on hof doesnt mean these sliders wont work on any level. Dont be set to play on someones set as is. Each slider set is tuned to the authors personal experience not yours. One slider set does not fit all. Human skill level is involved. Dont be afraid to do your own testing and playing around with different sets. I tried every set on OS before i found what works for me.

If the game is frustrating then take breaks reevaluate your approach. Try diffent batting and pitching styles. I use meter pitching with this set and its fine. Ive used meter since MVP days so im used to it.

Try different ideas before going crazy with sliders. This game gives you so many customizable options to taylor to each user. Take advantage of that. This isnt the mess madden is. This game is finely tuned and you can tell sds put some love in it.

I probably need to rephrase my last paragraph as I am not expecting my Phillies team to be at the top of the league as it would be an unrealistic expectation given my current staff.
