Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

Need an opinion...it will come after the facts.
Charlotte Cobras(Rays) go to Fenway for the first of 3. Wind blowing directly out to center at 11 mph. Charlotte wins 13-12 with 10 home runs hit.

Game 2 wind blowing out at 8 mph to center. I lowered the HR slider down to 4.
Boston wins 1-0, no home runs. 5 hits to 3 hits.

My question is... is this just an example of variety in games, or is the HR slider that powerful?

I love the variety of these 2 games. This is my 11th game of the season.

I do have a second question about this. Boston's pitching staff was exhausted going into this series as they are giving up 8+ runs a game.
All of their relievers that pitched were in the yellow stamina wise. They kept pitching well after their stamina was gone and still shut me out. I have never seen this before. Is this normal for the cpu to do this?

It's tricky to figure out just by looking at the roster...so just run a quick sim with the roster you want to use and make sure that isn't an issue. If it IS an issue, find a different one.
Thanks for the quick response. I’m using mkharsh33 v9.0. Any idea how that plays out in regards to early trades? I’ll just put trades to manual for cpu-controlled teams for a month or so if it’s an issue. I don’t mind a few trades if they are reasonable.

And how early in the franchise would I see these trades?

I'm assuming that was 10 total HR's between both teams? If it was 10 for 1 team, that's tying the record.

I haven't had any issue w/ Power at default for the last month's worth of games I've played. 78 games in w/ the Phillies I've hit 106 HRs, so 1.35 per game, avg last year was 1.31 for the league IRL.

The Yankees in my Franchise have 143 thru 78 games just for reference, so it doesn't even look like any team will hit the 307 the Twins hit last year IRL unless they start averaging more a game.

Some games early in the season seems like you'll hit a ton of HR's, but it will even out as the season goes along. I have games where hitting a HR feels almost rare and earned for that game.

If it’s a bad roster, it’ll happen in April. Just check transactions in May and see how much activity there was.

Don’t sit directly behind the strike zone. If an RH hitter is up, move a foot or so to your left on the couch, and vice versa for an LH.

I use MLB15 view, but I guess it works for others? As you’re seeing it more like the hitter would I suppose.

And finally, I think everyone knows this but worth repeating: your eye level should be at the top of the SZ at least. Definitely not lower..

(It is possible I’ve ‘discovered’ this on a night I just happen to be playing very well perhaps. There’s the disclaimer.)

The height I sit at really does make a difference for me. I had switched to a lower chair and was really struggling to hit.

Switched back to the one I always used and hit back to back home runs. That certainly solidified it for me.

That's not Josh's style, that wasn't directed towards you. He was just making a generalization, since if positions aren't balanced, it results in the issue of trades.

Sometimes (but not always) bringing in a new pitcher directly from the "quick menu" causes the pitcher to come in with a chunk of his stamina gone and confidence lower than normal. Sometimes the "schedule to pitch" option on the bullpen screen does the same thing. Anytime I see this, the warmup bar/circle does show as "ready" and not "cold" - but this sounds too similar to just brush off.

The way to keep the bug I'm talking about from happening is to always access the bullpen screen when you change pitchers - don't do it straight from the quick menu. And the change needs to be immediate from that screen - not the delayed "schedule to pitch" option, in other words.

I don't know if this and the thing you mentioned are the same, but I just wanted to give a heads up on the known bug.

Same thing just happened to me in my Cubs chise! I had both Wick and Kimbrell fully warm and “ready”. I choose the quick menu (by pressing up on the D pad) to bring in Wick in the 8th...comes in missing a chunk of energy. Realizing this, when I get to the 9th, I decide to bring in Kimbrell by hitting pause, then selecting him through the bullpen via the Manager tab in the pause menu. Then once Kimbrell is on the mound, he’s ALSO missing a chunk of energy and I’d assume confidence as well. He did throw an immaculate inning which was awesome, but this is super frustrating! If anyone has found a way to get around this, it would be much much appreciated.

So talking about stamina I looked at my stats so far through 51 games compared to my pitchers career stats for innings pitched.

Mike Sorka is pitching 5.6 innings a game for me his career is 5.8 innings per game.

Felix Hernandez 6.5 this year 6.5 career

Cole Hamels 6.4 this year 6.3 career

Mike Foltynewicz 6.1 this year 5.0 career

Max fried who got hurt in two starts is 4.7 this season 4.1 career.

So it looks like stamina at 5 is pretty damn good. And I like the feel of it.

How about pitchers on the cpu-controlled teams? That’s the issue for me with it at 5.

My “ah ha” moment was when the Cards were beating me 2-0 after 4 innings. They cpu pulled their starter (Martinez) even though he had a no-hitter and had thrown 73 pitches. That simply wouldn’t happen IRL

Today I used the pause menu to warm up my pitchers and it worked like a charm . Bcruise suggested this to me yesterday and it worked. It sounds like you already had them warmed up preciously using the dpad. Also when you warm them up use the “ ready and waiting “ option when the red ready bar is half way. They will continue to warm up until they are fully ready. Then when you are ready to bring them in use the pause menu again. I did this twice today and it worked both times. The results were still the same as I got shelled out of the pen again but this method works . Good luck
