Used it for about 30-40 games in my franchise. Then I switched back to Dynamic and realized I was getting better results. Now I know this is all about preference and look. But is it possible the game plays different when switching between. I mean I don’t want to feel like I’m cheating the cpu. Sort of like the cameras for hitting like zone not being used because it gives the hitter (user) an advantage. Sorry if the question sounds ridiculous I’m just curious if you have heard or run into anything like this or perhaps it’s all in my head 🤷🏻*♂️. Thanks in advance.
I'm going to preface this by saying this: I'm very set in my ways...I'm a very strict broadcast cam for pitching and retro for hitting kind of guy. So, I really haven't played around too much with them.

Do I think that it actually changes the gameplay? No.

What I think happens is that you may be more comfortable with some cams vs others. That said: if you're trying to not inadvertently not give yourself an advantage, don't pitch out of hitting cams and don't use any of the strike zone cameras for hitting. Pitching out of hitting cams is so much more zoomed-in that it's easy to spot your pitches. The more zoomed in the camera is for pitching, the more granular you can get in how much you move the stick to aim the pitches. With broadcast, even a subtle change in how much you move the stick can greatly change your aiming of a pitch. And well, I have zero nice things to say about hitting using the strike zone cams...

I have had fun an good results using retro cam for batting. But I can’t steal a base to save my life. I always rank at the bottom of the league with little or no success even with fast guys I get picked off after taking a little lead off. So I tried fish eye but.... I’m still not winning any stolen bases so I’ll go back to retro for sure. As for pitching I’ll give this a go and see what’s good. I am beginning to think it was all in my head thanks for the reply!!!

Base-stealing: you do not need to take a lead. There are two general approaches I use.

Approach 1: the standard steal attempt. Hold down L2 and release just as the pitcher makes his first move towards the mound. Time it well and you'll get a good jump. Be ready to hit R1 though if he throws over to the base.

Approach 2: the 'all out' steal attempt. Tap L2 and the press AND hold onto L1. The runner will automatically run all-out to steal the base at the pitcher's first move. There's a risk, if you guess wrong and he throws to the bag, you will usually get picked-off.

(Note: a third approach is to merely tap L2. The runner will take off (mainly based on ratings). But it will be a slower jump and IMO, will be more likely to get the runner thrown out by the catcher)

Either way, you have to steal in favorable situations when expecting an off-speed pitch or a pitch out of the zone. Also closely look at the catcher's ratings and see how good he is.

My skills are amateur at best when it comes to base stealing. I never realized all the approaches. I just tap L2 and cross my fingers after taking a small lead. Thanks for the detailed approach... One last question. An if it’s something that has already been mashed to death on the forum it’s okay I’ll do a search but with Bacons rosters do you keep your player training to auto all the time or are you manually adjusting for those in the minors and young?

I've been setting up one focus area per player for each season (mind you, I'm only in year 2). Now, in many cases, it's the auto selected one. But there are times that I make my own tweaks.

(At a bare minimum, make sure the auto-training isn't training some slow power hitter in bunting or drag bunting....)

Have you noticed how long it takes for them to train before it increases their rating on the targeted attributes?

I know you said you keep them on that all year. So do you get more increase the longer you train them?

It takes a full season to see real improvement from the minor side of things as far as I can see. I have watched some rebuild simulations on YouTube by TheAntsOrtiz I think it is. Two years or Three a lot of improvement. I guess it depends on player themselves how their team is doing and there performance themselves.

                  Hi JoshC1977
Long time reader first time posting. I have started a Boston franchise on The Show 20. Just wanted to say thank you for your sliders, roster and all the work you that you do. I have always wanted to complete a whole season and am determined that this will be the year. Sorry to be so long winded. Really just wanted to say thanks.

So I've been on XBOX the past cycle and the last MLB game I owned was The Show 11. I just landed a PS5 and got The Show 20 because it looks fantastic on the PS5. I tried Armors Sliders they're a bit difficult would you recommend these sliders for someone who hasn't frequently played a baseball game in 10 years?

Absolutely - you can start off on All Star and once you get comfortable, you can always use Dynamic Difficulty to go up to AS+ if you need more 'bite'.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders

OK guys; I had been deciding for a long while what my plans were for MLBTS21. Here's the deal. I'm 100% going to be playing a ton of my current Bacon franchise on MLBTS20; I'm too attached to give it up.

BUT...and you can thank my real life Reds for this; but I now have the itch to at least attempt to run a franchise on MLBTS21. It's a really fun squad with an interesting 'build'. I'm going to now TRY to dive into a franchise with them on '21. I was getting the game to play DD anyways, I just hadn't been sure if I'd bother with franchise. Now that I have some excitement to dive into a franchise; I am going to go ahead and develop a slider set for '21.

The really good news; SDS has been incredibly consistent over the years with how they balance the game. I truly don't expect that balancing to change much; which means our slider "formula" will probably not change too much.

The 'typical' SDS balancing usually means:

                          - pitch speeds are too slow
                          - pitch speed differentials are too close together
                          - hit 'purity' is a bit too clean
                          - pitch control has too much 'RNG' in it
                          - SP stamina is too low

I fully expect that the current OP will carry forward beautifully into '21. However, as I will be using a "live" roster, I will be closely monitoring power output levels.

It'll probably be a few days after launch to put out a provisional setup and then we'll work on sample size.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.
