By that I don't mean losing, because I knew I was picking bad teams and I wanted to rebuild them (plus I love Wrigley). I realized that my pitching is fine, but I'm just horrible at hitting, so I'm going to start a new franchise with the hitting difficulty on All-Star and see how things go.

As for check swings....I hate them on '22. I've only played '15 and '18 so I can't really compare this game to anything but I've had some really wonky check swings that just don't make sense. Now, I'm playing on the Switch so maybe that's the issue..but when I tap the button and the batter goes 7/8 of a swing...that's odd. Sometimes it's great, and other times it's just BS. I'm going to keep playing since I don't have any other options but I definitely see why Armor hates it.

The Show 20 is $20 if you can grab it on the PlayStation store. Plenty of great rosters for it also. I play both 20 and 22 as I am invested in a few franchises. I throughly enjoy both! Hope you will too. Check out armors classic roster thread in the rosters thread. You will love it

Are the sliders in the OP (version 2.0 from May) still the most updated version? Thanks!

To my knowledge they are the ones he left off with.

I know Armor scrapped 22 and is only playing 20 now (couldn't get over the check swing mechanics/or lack thereof)

You can play 20 on the ps5. Unless you’re on Xbox?

Your review on 22 went from 9.5/10 to uninstall over a check swing mechanic. It’s just a game. Relax and enjoy 20. All good brother.

I am playing a Royals Year 1 Franchise on MLB 20 with an updated 2022 roster....and losing brilliantly.

It’s subjective when it comes to check swings. I clearly believe they ruined them....and I am not the only one who has this strong opinion.

It has nothing to do with losing.....GTFOH with that. I was winning with the Yankees on MLB 22 and in first place when I packed it in because the game has flaws.....beyond check swings.

The hitting engine is also inferior to MLB 20.....the feel of the game as a whole other than defense.....is inferior for me.

I am playing what I love. And that is MLB 20.

For those still enjoying MLB 22.....awesome. Enjoy the game!!!

We deleted it almost a month ago.[/QUOTE]

I’m still chugging along with my DBacks franchise in ‘22. Sitting at 36-33 right now 4th in ALW. The year started off rough but had a great June.

Finished all 162. I have never even come close to that before, stopped at 120 in 2020. This game is addicting, especially with Armor's sliders.

My Cubbies went 86-76 and won the division, beating the Brewers by 2. Even with changes to the roster, at the AllStar break I was 11 under .500. I did not except this, but we made a run, and the Brewers lost the last 5 games.

We take on the Mets in the playoffs.

I'm going to increase the pitch speed next season for sure.

I have had no issues with check swing. I get an occasional bad call, but it's part of the game.

Armor, thank you for all your efforts. Your sliders are excellent and I had a ton of fun.

I’ve had some luck check swinging after switching to analog swing input instead of button. It’s a little easier to control the pressure on a thumbstick instead of a button.

I restarted my franchise now that Ridin’s v2 rosters are out. I’m going to try contact at 6 for the cpu on this one - it was just a little bit too easy to get strikeouts and I led the league in hits allowed too.

I don’t want to belabor the check swing issue in a slider thread but since it’s being discussed I'm weighing in.

I was one of the people complaining about this and it has in fact changed for the stricter. For over a decade I was very impressed with how well this was implemented but to be honest part of that may have been due to me doing well by it.

With 22 I have literally adjusted the way I play the game and the check swing ratio of safe to out has gotten better for me. It’s still different than it used to be but I can live with it. So I’m a bit less aggressive with my button pressure. One negative is that sometimes I find myself intending to swing and checking so I feel that it’s due to me rather than any patches. (Also I stopped patching after 1.007).

All I can say about check swings, and it sounds like a no brainer, but discipline plays a huge role into it. I’ve gotten more no swings calls with Christian Walker with a 58 VIS/80 DISC than I have with Ketel Marte 76 VIS/56 DISC.
I would like to say over the past month I’ve seen last check swings called strikes for users and more check swings called strikes for cpu, but that could be placebo. Either way I feel the the check swings have gotten better since launch of game, not sure if some under the hood adjustments were made.

Agree……I feel like check swings were way too easy in past iterations…..to the point that it almost became a crutch knowing if you misread a pitch badly, it’s still so easy to check (regardless of vision/disc ratings).

I actually like what they did to check swings….to each their own

We allow a ‘dice roll’ to determine outcomes when we play with directional/timing hitting and classic pitching. We are subjecting ourselves to random outcomes. Check swings however are still not completely random. We have a huge part in adjusting to the game and once we do then the ratings play the major factor in the outcome as explained by mikeyo’s example of Discipline playing a key role. I guess I just don’t understand how a dice roll playing a part is ok for some of the outcomes but not for others. I personally like where the check swing has went.

I too like how check swings are this year. Also would chime in and say sample size, the more games played, the more you’ll see calls even out for both user and cpu. I’m on game 80 in my franchise, definitely have seen a good mix.

I was dealing with my dissatisfaction of where check swings went….and no Dowie…I am going to disagree with that #crutch comment. I will leave it at that.

What really and ultimately led me to go back to 20 yet again was simply the hitting engine as a whole lost the variety I simply get on 20.

I think 22 is a great game…..but I much prefer playing classic rosters….like a lot more. And 20 plays a much better game for me using all the roster content vs the modern game on 22.

I even started a modern 2022 Royals on 20 and love it.

Like we say….to each their own.

I feel like 20 is tue complete package for me personally.
