I’ve been playing with Retro cam this year and really enjoy it. I’ve been using pitch speeds at 6 but was wondering if I should bump up to 7. Would you suggest it’s best at 7 using that cam Dowie?
I’m using Armors sliders for reference so I know it’s been said pitch speeds should be bumped up from 5 when not using Fish eye camera.

I use Armors full slider set as well.

IMO, because we don’t all use the same tv’s, monitors etc., pitch speed comes down to (within reason) user preference.

Everyone’s experience with pitch speeds is going to be slightly different (think game lag).

I think 6 or 7 for retro is great, but if you struggle to pull a 94/95MPH when sitting on a FB, I’d lower pitch speeds.

If you pull 96+ MPH FB’s with ease in 2 strike counts while trying to protect the plate, then chances are your pitch speed sliders are too low/slow.

Maybe keep track of your hitting spray charts for 5 to 10 games. That might give you a sense of if you are too early or too late on too many balls put in play, then adjust pitch speeds accordingly.

I’ll say this….it’s my experience that going below default is waaaaaay too slow for Retro camera (ball floats too much).

8 or higher is actually too easy, because you don’t even have time to read pitches…..your just pressing the swing button asap and that’s not a real approach to hitting!

I wouldn’t sweat it….5,6 or 7 all work.

Spray charts can help (if sample size is enuf)

I’d rely more on what you are feeling/seeing in your AB’s.

You should have to be looking FB to hit 96 or 97+. If you are able to sit back and wait on those kinds of speeds than your pitch speed sliders are too low.

I’m seeing the blue icon come on under my fielders even with auto fielding on and all indicators off. Am I doing something wrong?

You are spot on. Check swings on 20 too easy. The yanks year 6 lineup is so deadly it’s hard playing 22 with teams not nearly as good.

2020 check swings were incredibly too easy to perform. 2021 was incredibly hard where it was probably too difficult. As I played I got better, but overall still was too difficult imo. 2022 imo they balanced it out perfectly. Sometimes I press too hard and feel like it should be a strike but not. Other times I feel the opposite. I think the game does well to use player ratings with this and overall it's a good balance. Sucks and sorry to hear that is the only reason to stop playing such a great game. Enjoy 2020!

I am playing a Royals Year 1 Franchise on MLB 20 with an updated 2022 roster....and losing brilliantly.

It’s subjective when it comes to check swings. I clearly believe they ruined them....and I am not the only one who has this strong opinion.

It has nothing to do with losing.....GTFOH with that. I was winning with the Yankees on MLB 22 and in first place when I packed it in because the game has flaws.....beyond check swings.

The hitting engine is also inferior to MLB 20.....the feel of the game as a whole other than defense.....is inferior for me.

I am playing what I love. And that is MLB 20.

For those still enjoying MLB 22.....awesome. Enjoy the game!!!

Just checking back in after a month or so of franchising...I got tired of the Tigers so I took a break and was trying different teams. I was going with the Cubs for a while but everything started feeling just like the Tigers franchise. By that I don't mean losing, because I knew I was picking bad teams and I wanted to rebuild them (plus I love Wrigley). I realized that my pitching is fine, but I'm just horrible at hitting, so I'm going to start a new franchise with the hitting difficulty on All-Star and see how things go.

As for check swings....I hate them on '22. I've only played '15 and '18 so I can't really compare this game to anything but I've had some really wonky check swings that just don't make sense. Now, I'm playing on the Switch so maybe that's the issue..but when I tap the button and the batter goes 7/8 of a swing...that's odd. Sometimes it's great, and other times it's just BS. I'm going to keep playing since I don't have any other options but I definitely see why Armor hates it.

I’m with Armour as well. ‘20 simply plays better and feels more like a real game. ‘22 I couldn’t get any offense from cpu no matter what slider adjustments I made. With ‘20, no issues whatsoever when using Armour’s sliders

Exactly. Play what gives you the most enjoyment….there is no wrong. It is just a game and we are passionate about our sports games around here.

I poured in over 100 hours with 22 and enjoyed most of it. I was able to create a slider set for it as well and hope those that enjoy 22 are getting the most out of it.

Thank you Armor for your sliders. I'm having a blast. My cubbies are 79-74, 2 out of first behind the Brewers, with 9 games left. I have played every game. It's been awesome.
