I get it. I had good/realistic results the first series..it does seem like fielder speed and reaction are a little fast as well too. Tough call to upset the balance....but, if it could be balanced without harming gameplay then it's be even better. I might play around with the fielder.settings this next series.....I figured if solid hits are at 4, then fielder speeds that work on other sets.may be kinda incorporated into these.....idk but Armor is the best as far as I'm concerned so don't wanna mess anything up cause his tweaks have made the games pretty fulfilling

Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

So here are my thoughts on infielder speed and arm strength etc.

The balance is there IMO.....I am obviously playing and still observing but I have seen excellent variety in terms of:

      Errors both throwing and fielding

Not as many double plays on average as previous versions.

Elite arms will be represented even with infield arm strength at 4

Reaction at 4 is to me the balance. 5 was too good for my taste but once you start lowering it....guys who are elite gloves lose their range too much form taste.

Keep in mind....these are Major Leaguers.....and MLB middle infielders for the most part have great range and an average of 86-90 arm velocity. However with reaction at 4 and arm strength at 4 average middle infielders and bench guys will stick out more in terms of guys beating out ground balls that are deep in the hole and softly hit double play balls.

I would keep playing.....once you start lowering it too much wonky stuff starts happening....I have seen it too many times. Also with auto fielding animations start to lag a little and it looks like slow baseball with OF’s not being able to track down balls you know they should....and middle infielders allowing too many in the 4 hole and 6 hole as well as up the middle.

High end defense is a hallmark of Major League baseball but with those slight tweaks on V 1.5 I am confident it allows for a nice experience where not everything is automatic over the course of 162 games and a post season.

The more I keep playing the more and more I think V1.5 is really locked in.

Personal taste may have you lower power to 4......that’s ok....I would leave Contact at 6 and solid hits at 4.

But I think power at 5 (again over the course of playing 162 games) will prove to be excellent in conjunction with other slider settings.

I’ve played tons of games and IMO power will have to be lowered. I’m crushing home runs at a crazy pace. Contact 6 with power at 5 just doesn’t work over the long term.

What I’ve been playing around with is power 4 for both cpu and human and pitch speeds back up to 6

It might not for you…..everyone is different.

Adjust to your skill level and taste.

1.5 is playing great but my biggest issue right now is the CPU logic is so flawed when it comes to managing the bullpen. Putting the hook to 10 does help but it doesn’t fix the dumb moves the CPU makes. I guess it’s just something you gotta deal with.

We had 3 errors, 2 unearned runs given up by my Cubbies, and one of those was definitely my fault.
I can't stress enough how much your TV may be playing a role. I previously played on a Vizio LED in game mode. Now I play on a Sony projector in game mode. I can hit faster pitch speeds on the projector than I can on the Vizio. Also, if I take the projector out of game mode it is basically unplayable because the delay is such that I swing and miss everything and I'm way too late. Make sure your in game mode in whatever you are using.

Armour, I’m assuming you are still testing the best way to configure the bullpen?

I read somewhere that the SU2 spot is the problem. I’m about to play my first franchise game (with my new PS5) today using the method you mentioned, but with 8 guys in the pen.

I have 2 LRP (3rd and 4th best pitchers both with stamina less than 40)

4 MRP (5th, 6th, and 7th best reliever and the MRP 4 position is my long reliever)

1 SU is best reliever, with the exception of the closer

                    Closer

Looking forward to starting my Phillies and Yankees franchises.

Hopefully this method works! Thanks for sharing

Gotcha. Well, the tv is in game mode. It's the same tv I used for the Show 20, though I think my hitting difficulty was set at All Star. However, you could be right, but there is nothing else that I can really do there. I use the TV for computer games such as Elden Ring, and I also use it with my ps3 for CK Hoops 2k8. So I think the TV is fine, but I could be wrong.

I have reduced pitch speed to 3 due to my skill level, and I am still getting realistic results and I am still striking out against the best pitchers at a realistic rate. I am getting more contact though, and it just feels better.

As for the power, I feel that it's right. I am currently 2-4, and though I gave up 10 runs in two games, I deserved it. With Kyle Hendrick's first start, I kept under throwing the ball with the pitch meter, and I should have also pulled him sooner. Same with this Korean pitcher I used, who had a 77 rating. The rest of my games I have kept the CPU at 4 or less runs, and usually around 10 hits. My last game though, Kyle Hendricks gave up no runs and 3 hits through 7 and a third innings! We won 1 to 0 against St. Louis's 2nd best pitcher. Amazing game. If I pitch right, and make smart moves as a manager, I will be rewarded. If my started gives up 5 runs in two innings, and I try to stretch him through 4 or 5 innings, I will end up giving up touchdowns, lol! I have to play the game the right way, and I really love that!

As for the players power, it is possible that better skilled players might have too many home runs, but Armor is a veteran at this, and if he says it will balance out, maybe give it more time? For me, the power is perfect. Through 6 games, my Cubbies have 5 home runs, 4 of those are from my two power hitters that bat 3 and 4. We still rank like 25th or so in homers, which is right around what we should rank.

The only unrealistic thing I have seen is too many complete games in the simulated games, but in my played games, everything seems good as to how long pitchers stay out there, when they pulled, etc. I have kept the pull rating at 5 for entire games, and I think the CPU does fine with it's bull pen. I haven't seen anything stupid, in fact, I have seen great moves by the CPU manager, but I am not as well versed in all the intricacies of this great American past time.

So I'm 2-4 right now, and having a blast. I did my best to build up my farm system with a lot of young free agents with decent talent and very good potential (Bs and As). I also upgraded my scouts.

I can't say enough about this amazing game and these awesome sliders by Armor. It sure has made my Easter Break even more fun! Thank you Armor and everyone else for your thoughts, advice, and stories about your games. Holy Cow!!! Go Cubbies!

Yankees are in a rough skid here outta the gate.

Lost 3/4 to the loaded Blue Jays. Biggio making a career vs me already.

Then we drop an extra inning affair to the O’s 4-3.

Bright spot is we called up Greg Bird and he goes 3/4 for me.

Glyeber back from a minor injury for game 2 of the series and DJ is less than a week away from returning from a minor knee sprain.

Team hitting has been abysmal to start but I am confident we will come around here really soon.
