I tried fish eye, but I could not get use to it.

My Cubs are 1-6, with our last two losses being 3-2 and 3-1. Of course pitchers matter, but even against bad ones I'm striking out too much.

So I'm thinking of reducing pitch speed to 4. Has anyone else done this? Or any other suggestions?

Yeah just go down to 4/4 on your pitch speeds…..there was a time back on MLB 12 and 13 I had pitch speeds at 0

    Totally user preference.

And BTW I was fanned 19 times (17 by Verlander) in my series finale vs the Astros late last night.

    And it felt completely legit.

Reducing pitch speed is always a helpful tool if needed, nothing wrong with that!

Also don’t forget if you’re down in the count to use the contact swing, or use contact swing with anyone less than 40-50 contact as a hitter. You may not get a ton of hits that way, but you’ll put the ball in play a lot more and fend off striking by fouling pitches that are outside the zone.

Lastly, camera angle does make a difference too. I use Fish Eye 2 mostly because I’m susceptible to pitches that are high. Sadly the trade off is I often struggle with pitches that are low or break low. Keep testing stuff out until you find a good place to be!

I have to say, along with these sliders this is by far the best gameplay experience I’ve had with The Show. It feels absolutely amazing!

If only they could change the pitching deliveries, giving them the missing oomph and power, then the gameplay would be perfect.

Probably the biggest reason I began playing on 9/9 pitch speed. It was tough for a while but over time it becomes normal.

I believe what they meant was that the pitchers animations in the game don't have that aggressive, explosive , angry, giving it all they got types of motions that you see in real life.

After getting knocked around for a few games, I settled into a 9 game winning streak with my Blue Jays. Then in my last game got smashed by the Astros for 10 runs in one inning!! Lost the next game against Boston when Paxton almost no hit me. Won 4-0 in the next game. Such a nice variety. Sitting at 16-7 on the season so far using these exact sliders.

Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

I love the clean-screen approach and the sliders; thanks for sharing and helping to create a fun environment to play in. I have a couple of observations / questions about slight modifications:

                  (1) Personally, I prefer to have the Hot Zones show up prior to the first pitch. I feel like the pitcher would have this information ahead of the game, and I like having it available at the beginning of an at bat. The hot zones fade away and are absent for the rest of the at bat.

                  (2) With the pitch selection and pitch confidence graphics turned off (which I like), is there any way to see the pitcher's stamina?

                  (3) I like the idea of shutting off the vibration feedback for pitch selection, but I'm not sure if it's possible to shut that off while keeping the vibration in other areas of the game. Do you shut off all vibrations to avoid the pitching feedback?

                  (4) I understand that the Auto Defense allows the ratings to control how your defense gets to the ball (and then you control the throws), but part of me really enjoys controlling the fielders with Assist. -- Any sense how disruptive to a true "sim" approach is the Assist Defense instead of Auto Defense? (I know I will likely make more mistakes in timing my dives and jumps, but it's also more fulfilling when I make a good play on defense.)

                  (5) I have used a "Medium" in-play camera in the past to help create a more standard view of the ball in play to help me with baserunning decisions, etc. (Even when using Auto Defense last year.) I find that the Broadcast or Dynamic views give me different camera angles that make it more challenging to read the ball and know how to handle my baserunners. Do you experience this as well? (Maybe I'll do broadcast on defense [if I do Auto Defense] and Medium or High on offense.)

                  (6) Related to the previous note, it feels to me like the in-play camera angles have changed some. I feel like the "Medium" view is zoomed in more than in the past, and the "High" view feels too far away. I may just be misremembering, but it feels a little more zoomed in to me than in past editions of the game. (Also, I gave up a 2-run HR late in a game last night, and the camera felt way too zoomed in as it went to the no-doubt HR cutscene. You couldn't see the batter or ball, just a zoom in on the outfield wall with little context because it was so zoomed in. Anyone else experience this?)

Couldn't get the ps5 after several attempts at restock. So I broke down and got the series x instead. Spent about 8 hours yesterday figuring out how to build a stadium. Finally got one I'm happy with. Created a team to replace the Orioles. Released everybody in the organization and did kind of an expansion draft type setup for the new roster.

Got everything all set up super pumped to play my opening day game against Toronto. Things were great for 3 innings then I proceded to give up 3 hr in a row. My pitcher lost control after the 3rd hr and I walked the bases loaded on 12 straight pitches. Pitch 13 was finally a strike and it ended up over the center field fence lol. So opening day was a total bust and my team can't hit for anything. Gonna be a looooong season and a tough rebuild. Can't wait to continue it!

                      Hello!
Thanks to you guys for putting in all the hours "tinkering"
I just need to know what to set things like base-running speed/aggressiveness as I remember one year that was a problem (maybe my last adventure into the Show-which was 2019)--and sliders to make the Bullpens/Relivers a little more realistic (Stamina etc)

Shane, same thing happened to me. I did without The Show last year, but this year, once the XBOX x started to be available at normal prices, I couldn't help but buy it for this game.

Guys, thanks for the advice about pitch speed. I will try speed 4 tonight. I don't mind being struck out a ton by good pitchers, but when I was having issues over and over against mediocre to bad pitchers, and not catching up to the fastball, even when I was looking for it, I knew that something was wrong, and most likely it is due to my skill level. I played the Show20, 150 games or so, and I believe I use to use ALL Star skill level for hitting. I like using HOF, and I thought I would be use to the speed, but after 3 preseason games and 7 regular season games, it just has not been happening.

I don't think it's my tv, a sony 65 inch x900 f, played using game mode all of that. The game is really smooth. I just can't catch up with the fastball, and I swing at too many pitches in the dirt.

I have been playing with human power at 6, and it seems to work pretty good. If I start hitting much better, and the power seems to be too much, I will brink it back down to the recommended 5.

I should use contact hitting more when I have two strikes, I really don't ever use that, or power mode either. I usually just swing using the normal swing. Thank you for the advice on that.

Pitching with the pitch meter is working great with these sliders, so I recommend them even if you use the pitch meter, instead of the classic mode. My pitchers all have reasonable ERA's and stats. I miss spots all the time, but sometimes Im on and hit that marker perfectly (which does not always guarantee a good pitch), so I feel like I have some control, but not total control by any means. It feels perfect.

Thank you all for the tips, support, and help. I love these sliders!!!

                          (3) I like the idea of shutting off the vibration feedback for pitch selection, but I'm not sure if it's possible to shut that off while keeping the vibration in other areas of the game. Do you shut off all vibrations to avoid the pitching feedback? - Vibration off means all of it is off.....and I personally dislike the haptic feedback anyway so I am good with it turned off.

(I know I will likely make more mistakes in timing my dives and jumps, but it's also more fulfilling when I make a good play on defense.) - if you prefer playing defense by all means....but the amazing animations come to life on auto while pre-loading your throws....it is a thing of beauty.

                          (5) I have used a "Medium" in-play camera in the past to help create a more standard view of the ball in play to help me with baserunning decisions, etc. (Even when using Auto Defense last year.) (Maybe I'll do broadcast on defense [if I do Auto Defense] and Medium or High on offense.) - I have always played on the broadcast camera with outstanding results. Some people like the Dynamic camera which was introduced a few games back....and I also see a lot of people use medium. Pitching from broadcast is really awesome as you get the actual broadcast view for each park. So it changes it up on your 81 road games and makes it a halogen in of itself to pitch on the road with different angles in broadcast view.

                          (6) Related to the previous note, it feels to me like the in-play camera angles have changed some. - I don’t know what the deal is with that odd and jarring HR camera which used to be the pulled back no doubt camera.....I don’t know if this is a bug or a lousy design decision. I pray it is a bug and fixed. Otherwise I don’t like it at all.

Ahhh so the same problem with bullpen with 21 is with 22

                            Either roll with 12 pitchers
                            5- SP
                            1 -LRP
                            4- MRP
                            1- SU
                            1 - CL

or if you want 13 pitchers

                            5- SP
                            2- LRP
                            4-MRp
                            1-SU
                            1- CL

The 2nd SU role is broken

I rarely use power swing myself, maybe with a major HR hitter (like Pete Alonso) and only if I’m up in the count 3-1. Contact is great and realistic, so many pros will “choke up on the bat” when down to their last strike so it’s 100% in the realm of realism.

Keep enjoying the game man, you’ll find your sweet spot in no time!
