Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

I love my Cubbies and I have always used them as my team in every baseball game that I have played. They are also a great challenge to play as this year. Lots of work to be done, but also some great players on the team like Suzuki!

If I ever played as Cleveland, I would have to create a crazy roster modeled after the players in Major League. Wild thing, Sorano, Willie Mays Hayes, it would be awesome.

I say go ahead and start your franchise. I am using AntOrtiz's V 2 rosters which added many missing players, and it works great.

As for pitching, I just love the pitching meter, and it works great for me using Armor's sliders.

    Have fun, and Go Cubbies

I’ve only had it when the game gives me the option. Has there been a way to do I manually?

I’m starting one with my Tigers! Love the potential in their rotation and of course guys like Tork, Riley, Badoo… I want to get Miggy is 3k hits too [emoji123]

Big time Tigers fan here too. Born and raised in Michigan! We’re scuffling at the plate in real life so hopefully it doesn’t translate over to the game!

Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

Can anyone give me some pointers/ advice on classic pitching? I know baseball, I understand how to pitch but for some reason when using classic, I am getting hit all over the place.

I am even using top tier pitchers, tried bumping user pitching control back to 5 from 4 on the sliders and it literally doesn’t matter. Teams like the Pirates are getting 8-9 hits in 4-5 innings off 90 overall pitchers that I am using.

What am I missing? How long do I hold? When I tap it doesn’t seem close to accurate, when I hold to vibration it seems that they throw harder but even less accuracy. I like what classic brings but games feel and results are better when I use meter.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Gotta figure out your pitchers release points. I’d suggest you rarely ever just tap and don’t hold it down too long either. I’ve had the most success on finding the exact release point for all my pitchers. Takes a little time but you’ll get used to it.

So almost like hold it right before it vibrates? Would that be the release point? Vibration is too long, tapping is too early?

I also don’t see any options to challenge a call on my own.
It's definitely the same as previous years like others have said. However, I haven't had the option come up at all. I've faced at least 3 plays where in the past it definitely would have popped up (even though the runner was safe) and there's been two times the player has clearly been out where it hasn't popped up. I'm going to put in a bug report for it because in my experience it hasn't popped up nearly enough.

These are all situations where there's been nobody else on base.

I’m also having the same difficulties with classic pitching. I’ve though of going down to all star pitching/hall of fame hitting

I found some success. A lot of it is timing each pitchers perfect release point. Usually it seems when the drive leg makes its first little move, right before the vibration.

Also unlike meter pitching, this is more about picking zones to throw in and let the ratings sort of do the rest (for good or bad). So on meter I would always dot corners, on classic I shoot for quadrants in the strike zone, it seems to help. Of course you’ll still have to choose effective pitches for each situation but it seems better.

LASTLY, when choosing pitch location it seems far better to not do the placement to the point of vibration if you’re trying to throw a strike( it will almost always be a ball ). Better to throw it to the spot before vibration begins.

Hope this helps a little, it’s still a struggle for me as well but this has been what’s helping me. Also going into practice mode on the main screen, just mess around throwing pitches until you find the method that suits the style best.

Adding just 1 to power for the player and keeping all other slider ratings the way Armor has them feels perfect.

Lost 3-2, won 6-2 (against the weakest pitchers St. Louis had, their # 5 starter who is rated 70, and relievers in the 60s) and then lost 6-3 against the Brewers #2 starter. I should have won that game, Hendricks had a 1 hit game into the 5th, gave up 1 run in the 5th, and then in the 7th I made three fielding mistakes where I threw to the wrong base, totally on me. I scored 2 in the first, and then that pitcher shut me down. Only 6 hits, but I did have a lot of good contact. I hit a homer in the 9th, my only hit against a good relief pitcher, and that was it.

When I hit, I only use the normal swing. I played about 150 games in 2020, none since then. I think my skill level as a hitter is ok. So if you like Armor's sliders, but feel that you are not getting the results you should as a hitter, try adding 1 to the power. It has not led me to getting tons of runs, homers, or whatever, it just feels right, and against good pitching I still struggle, but things just seem more fair now for my skill level.

The pitching meter also works great with these sliders, if you like using the pitching meter. Just have to pitch smart, try to get ahead, paint the corners, change speed and location, just like in real life.

Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

Well just finished Opening Day for my Astros franchise and WOW, what a game. Verlander on the mound looked good until the 3rd inning when he gave up a 3 run bomb to Byce Harper, got through the 4th then promptly gave up a walk and a hit in the 5th. Braves pick up 1 more run making it 4-0, in the 6th Gurriel singled in a run, the Braves would respond by tacking on 4 more in the top half of the 7th, making it 8-1.

At this point I was fairly frustrated, I was getting rocked pitching wise, to be fair I did roll the dice and left Javier in for a 3rd inning as he had high confidence and energy, that was a mistake. But this is where things start to get interesting, a hit and a walk put 2 runners on for Michael Brantley who continued his streak of home runs on opening day notching his 3rd hit of the game, a Single, Double and a dinger. Still though it was an 8-4 game, not over but also not really close with only a bit of time left.

A quiet 8th and top half of the 9th and it was the 'Stros last chance for romance. Diaz walked to tart the bottom half. McCormick singled for his 3rd hit of the game, Jose Siri came in for Maldonado and struck popped out setting up the double play. Jose Altuve finally notched a hit however and with McCormick's speed he was able to score from the outfield single. At this point the Phillie's pulled Coonrod and put in Knebel to get out of the jam.

Knebel's first batter was Brantley and he hit him and took him out of the game (Fortunately just a day-to-day injury). That setup the bases loaded for Alex Bregman, a long battle at the dish and on a 3-2 count with the double play in order Bregman hit a ball barely in the bottom part of the zone. Grand Slam. Ball game.

This was probably the crazies game I've ever played, I thought it was over back in the 5th as Wheeler was dealing. Guess that goes to show never give up on a game. This years game may be the best one I've played, the hit variety, everything about it, just so good and so fresh.

I know a lot of people have been talking about Classic Pitching and I could use some pointers, I haven't had too many issues in years past but this year, from my testing games and this game I just get rocked every game.

Sorry for the long post but man this game is so good and that game was so much fun to play, went from frustration, to a sliver of hope, to more frustration, to saying, screw it let's see what happened then just shock after the walk off.

EDIT: As a side note, is there anything I need to change in my CPU profile to make sure I can do the mid-season extensions without the CPU just automatically doing them? My first year running 30 team control.

Also, a fun thing that happened on opening day. Somehow J.D. Davis hit 4 home runs and drove in 9 runs for the Mets, unexpected to say the least.

Sounds like you had an amazing game man!

Idk about the pitching, this is the first year I’ve committed to it and I have been getting shelled as well. I’ve had to do a lot of research on it to see if I was doing something wrong and some of it has helped.

If anyone knows or feels anything similar, let’s have a discussion!
