    Hey everyone.
Does anyone use quick counts and what are you thoughts? I do like the additional level of randomness that is introduced.

    Curious of your thoughts! Thanks!

I use quick counts. Its fantastic for getting through games quicker. Its a nice variety every at bat as well.

Also ‘22 is a great game!

Had absolutely nothing to do with losing.

We stopped because the “check swing” mechanic is busted. I am sorry but what they did to it in inexcusable.

We used Canadeon’s very good MLB 22 roster for MLB 20 and restarted our Royals journey on MLB 20

For those that are enjoying MLB 22 please keep at it.

I want to play what gives me joy and absolutely no aggravation. Check swings which worked for over a decade and a half now don’t work.

          Period.

No debating….it simply is a broken
Mechanic and a critical part of baseball that has been removed for reasons that infuriate me. Online competitive play has taken control of the neck that turns the head and vision of this game.

They do not not care about offline franchise players as much as they used too.

Bunting was nerfed because of online exploits (although I am somewhat successful with them but not nearly enough as I should be)

Now Check Swings were ruined. I am also quite convinced they were stealth patched. Out of the box I felt a better balance (75/25 strike to nonswing) now? 95/5

I play every pitch of every game. After 120 hours I had enough.

In motion MLB 22 is the most beautiful sports game I have ever played. However I want to love what my time is being used for.

I don’t love this game. Not when I can’t perform a basic function of hitting and working counts and grinding AB’s.

When I play 20 I love this game. The hitting engine is incredible and the variability of the outcomes is unmatched and check swings are fair. I get rung up but I am also able to check when I truly check. Are there some bad calls? Yeah. It happens.

Anyway I don’t know where you get your information…..losing never ever bothers me.

Losing because of broken mechanics does.

2020 check swings were incredibly too easy to perform. 2021 was incredibly hard where it was probably too difficult. As I played I got better, but overall still was too difficult imo. 2022 imo they balanced it out perfectly. Sometimes I press too hard and feel like it should be a strike but not. Other times I feel the opposite. I think the game does well to use player ratings with this and overall it's a good balance. Sucks and sorry to hear that is the only reason to stop playing such a great game. Enjoy 2020!

I REALLY want to play and enjoy 2022 - as I assume most of us do. I bought a ps5 just to play it. But I feel the same way as you do Armour (and others) - I just can’t.

Are you going back to 2020 for good? Just wondering as you lead I follow - especially if you feel 2022 is flawed beyond repair. If so, are you playing 2020 (I have ps4 version) on ps5?

Always appreciate your sliders, recommendations, input, analysis, etc. I couldn’t enjoy this game without you

A lot of what you said above and other times mirrors my sentiments on 22. It is a solid 6.5/10. It plays a great game fielding and the graphics and presentation elements really shine on the PS5. But it can't compete with the 9/10 that 20 gets. Even being the best, 20 loses a point because of the amount of editing to get it right potential and roster wise in the future.

I went back to 20 a few weeks back and was splitting between 20 and 22. In the last week, I have gone back to just 20 and even uninstalled 22 from my system.

The sad thing is that going back to previous games has been a trend that I have had to take over the last year. I went back to Madden 21 PS5 after a disappointing Madden 22 and looks like I will stay there. I tried NBA 2k22 and had some fun with it but off the court editing has sent me back to 20. It just speaks to the state of sports games as a whole and as a 41 year old franchise stuck in his ways gamer, it is not a path where I can continue to support companies that have shifted their target demographics. I accept this and as you have said play what you love. My new motto is chase fun and that is what these previous version games do for me.

Glad to see you are going back to 20. I am continuing another year of my future Indians (I can say that. It is on 20. And my walls of my office are covered in old Indians paraphernalia) franchise.

                Happy gaming sir!

@armor, i agree they broke a few things just for the sake to please the online community and this can be really frustrating.

They should implement something like Tuners in NHL Series. Not a big fan of EA but what they did with Tuners is the best of both worlds. Some Tuners for online and some for offline. All is very well documented on what is changed and all is version dated. So if they released offline tuner 1.5 but for some reason you don’t like the changes for say, bunting, then no problems and just play with version 1.4 of the tuner and that’s it.

I’m trying to load 2020 on to my ps5. It seems to almost be done and I get a message “can’t install”. The game loads just fine on my ps4. The Show 2022 loads on to my ps5. I’ve cleaned the disc, shut off ps5, unplugged it and tried again, but won’t install.

Any thoughts? Do I need to buy a new version of 2020?

Full time on 20. I am unfortunately done with 22. My sports gaming time is precious to me.

We are playing MLB 20, Madden 16 and 21 and we are going back to NBA2K18 for classic season replays with MJ Wizards rosters from that cycle.

Yeah it’s a sad state when I am not enjoying new sports games on a new console. But wow they play amazing on the PS5.

As far as why it won’t install I have no idea???

Thanks Armour. I ordered a new version of 2020 off Amazon so hopefully it works. I guess it’s back to the ps4 if it doesn’t.

One thing I loved about 2020 is that your sliders worked incredibly well. I liked the fact that your sliders were identical for both human and cpu.

While I was using v2 in 2022 I always felt a little like I was cheating with human contact at 7 and cpu at 5. And then the slider”itis” kicked in. Most games I seemed to hit too well with it at 7, but not quite enough with it at 6. I couldn’t get much offense from cpu with it at 5, but a bit too much with it at 6. I just couldn’t lock it in this year - and yes, check swings were maddening as hell. I also found too many baserunning mistakes by cpu this year.

But 2020 - perfect. Lock in your sliders and play with no second thoughts. Kind of looking forward to going back!

                          But a few questions

Do we need to make changes to cpu bullpen to use 13 pitchers? Is SU2 spot “broken”

                          - LRP 1 and LRP 2 - relievers under 40
                          - MRP 1,2,3 - other relievers
                          - MRP 4 - long reliever
                          - SU 1 - best reliever that’s not closer
                          - CP - closer

Where do I find the 2022 roster for the 2020?

I can’t thank you enough for making this game so enjoyable for me

Idk man. I would say after playing probably close to a thousand games on 2020 where check swings are incredibly too easy then for sure 2022 will feel broken cause it is much harder to check swing. But it's pretty fair once you learn how it is and figure it out. All I'm saying in a roundabout way is, just keep playing 2022 and figure it out instead of quitting over just one thing like check swing mechanics changed from 2020.

Thank God I didn't spend a lot of time playing 20 and can't fully appreciate it I guess because I am loving this year's iteration…

I'm not sure I could go back to Matty V after playing 22.

I do fully feel your frustration when it comes to lack of love being shown to franchise. I get irritated every year watching twitch streams prior to launch watching how excited the developers are to release a new legend.

But it's pretty fair once you learn how it is and figure it out. All I'm saying in a roundabout way is, just keep playing 2022 and figure it out instead of quitting over just one thing like check swing mechanics changed from 2020.

I played probably over 120 games on 22 and it’s impossible to figure out what is not working.

Being 52 and being judged on a pressure sensitive controller thing vs actually legit checking a swing….I am
done with that frustration of having Tom perfectly press button vs perfectly recognizing a ball.

That to me is utter horse ***t.

To each their own. Play what you love.
