Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

Using the OP over the last five games and so far my observations…

Cpu offense seems pretty weak overall. I’m not enjoying the 5 contact 4 human control. The human pitcher just misses his spot constantly which is leading to less walks and the cpu swinging at pitches that drift into the zone but they don’t do much with it. I’m enjoying computer contact at 6 and human control back to 5.

Stamina sliders need to be looked at too. The cpu is leaving their reliever in way too long. 2-3 innings unless you light him up. I’m thinking we need to keep those sliders are little closer to default.. maybe 6 for each or starter 6 and reliever 5.

Regarding the cpu offense being weak, I went through a similar stretch when I first started playing 21 before the cpu started to rake.

Glad to see you back. I haven't gotten the Show yet but might soon. Too busy with other games but... ahh screw it as I am typing this I really think I'm gonna buy it now on the psn store and play with your sliders.

a question for anyone who knows. with 30 team control & setting up the cpu dummy profile , everything set the way Armor recommends. My question is can I control the Cpu teams Mlb roster only ? Like every day I sim a Game or @ , the game tells me like a million times to fix all the cpu teams farm system lineups..

anyway to have them do that and me just handle the Mlb Rosters?

              thanks in advance!!

Did something change with the cutoff controls? I can't get my guy to throw it to the cutoff man and it even cancels the throw sometimes.

Unfortunately no. With lineups set to manual for the CPU profile it encompasses all levels.

                      Quick question Armour,

I’ve tried your sliders/settings a couple years ago so I may have asked back then( sorry can’t remember).

Anyway I’ve never stuck with classic pitching because I feel like I give up too much control.

When using classic do you still have the odd pitchers have breakout seasons?

If using timing and classic plays more to ratings what do you do with prospects? Do you wait until they reach a certain rating before a call up?

Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

I had played 7 games since Friday and just like all of the other Show games, I dominated on the mound using meter pitching. I basically gave up 0, 1, or 2 runs in every game. I know these sliders aren't made for meter pitching so they won't play exactly how I want on that side. I just always like to start by trying them out. In previous years I normally use the hitting, fielding, and running sliders and then get meter pitching sliders elsewhere. Anyway, for the first time I finally tried classic pitching yesterday. It was in my Cubs test franchise where I was playing the Braves. I'm up 3-0 in the 5th inning after making Fried walk 4 guys and get into jams in every inning. I should have scored 6+ but couldn't get a clutch hit. He threw 102 pitches through 4 and got taken out.

Justin Steele started for me and I was just mowing everyone down like typical. So, in the bottom of the 5th I said enough with this and switched to classic for the remainder of the game. Man did that make a difference. I finally had nerves on damn near every pitch. d'Arnaud smacked a solo shot which made it 3-1. Then I get into a massive jam in the 7th with Wick on the mound. I gave up a couple runs which ties it and I put Givens in the game. Sure enough Rosario hits a 3 run homer and I go down 6-3 giving up 5 in the inning.

Fast forward to the 9th and I get Matzek in a jam and end up scoring 3 to tie the game. We end up going scoreless to the 13th with jams happening in a couple innings for both teams. In the 13th I gave up a leadoff double to Acuna who was brought in to pinch hit. I then give up a single to left and the throw to the cutoff man goes over Madrigal's head to the backstop and Acuna scores. So, I lose 7-6.

All of this havoc and fun was definitely due to switching to classic pitching. I have zero doubt about it especially reading all of the feedback in here. It's just amazing how nerve wrecking it actually got. I finally got that feeling I used to have when I wasn't good at meter pitching in The Show 10. Now I have a couple options ha. I either make meter pitching tougher by slimming the meter down further and adjusting the sliders to make it harder, or I go to classic pitching full-time. I'm just so on the fence about whether I still want to have a little more influence on the pitching or go to classic and have ratings factor the most. I'm a big ratings player because realism is what I love which that obviously leans to the classic pitching side of things. I just still want some influence in things I think. I 100% understand why you guys go with classic though.

Holy crap though, this game is fun. Waiting for OSFM to come out in order to start my Twins franchise is going to seem like a long wait. Btw, just looking at the Cubs roster and prospects, they may be a fun rebuild. I know it's the Live roster but they didn't have one A graded prospect. That may change with OSFM but they really could be a challenging rebuild.

As far as the breakout seasons: Yes completely. Example. In my last Indians (was on 20) season, I brought up a rookie with 78A rating and who had 90+ stamina at 23 years old. By seasons end, he was 84 overall (ignoring morale), won rookie of the year and was third in the AL Cy Young. It is 100 percent possible.

Its definitely possible. With some players it just will never happen with some it will. Part of it is just a matter of figuring out how to pitch with each guy in order to succeed.

Definitely, I had brought this pitcher up in September 2026 and I struggled with him in 4 starts, going 0-3 with an over 6.00

I liked his stamina rating too much to give up on him. I started the next season with him as my number 5 starter. By the end of the season, I signed him to a 9 year extension as my future ace.

Obviously haven't gotten there in 22 yet, but I am anxious to see what storylines evolve in my near ready future Guardians franchise.

Sorry Armour, again, asking a question not related to sliders, but I trust you know the answer

One roster post says “ridin and his team does not touch the mlb rosters”.

What does this mean? Just that he doesn’t change any mlb player ratings?

Excited to start my franchise but happy to wait for a top notch roster set.

                                Thanks, as always
