Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

A&S, thoughts on lowering pitcher stamina for at least part of April to simulate a pitch count? I'm seeing a lot of complete games early in the season.

To clarify, I'm seeing a lot of complete games in cpu vs cpu simmed games, not in the games I'm playing. Maybe lower just on the sim?

Yea, I think we may have talked a little last year about this. I had done a tone of testing for my sliders last year before ever starting my franchise. One thing I didn't really test was the foul frequency slider.

Then my franchise didn't really keep me interested, but I still tested so many things. It was out of pure frustration that I knocked the foul frequency slider down. I was tired of having 100 swings in a game where my Just Early timing was a 110 mph line drive into the crowd.

I said screw it and put foul frequency at 0 and realized that was what I needed instantly. I started seeing these just early swings lead to balls that stayed in the park more often as you'd expect. I wasn't very early, so yanking every ball into the stands made no sense. Being just early you'd expect more down the lines and staying in the park, even in foul territory.

That's what happened and I didn't see a decrease in the frequency of desperation fouls to stay alive.

To put it simply, foul frequency controls what the ball will do when your timing is off on a swing. A higher foul frequency means the early and late swings are going to find their way into the stands very often. You'll have a tougher time keeping anything fair down the line and into the corner. It may even be impossible at 10 foul frequency.

At 0 foul frequency the spray chart down the lines is opened up. Some early swings pull the ball, but keep it fair and find themselves in the corner. Others land 1 inch just foul. Some are easily foul, but stay in foul territory, and some very early swings still find their way into the crowd, which makes much more sense than a just early swing on a ball down the middle.

      Overall

Contact - Straight forward. It dictates how often the bat will touch the ball on properly timed swings.

Solid Hits - It essentially is a barreled up modifier resulting in it being the hit variety setting. A 0 value means the majority of contact will be weal foul tips, chopped balls, or popups. A 10 means you're barreling everything up and it will be line drive city.

Power - Very straight forward. It's the exit velocity slider basically.

Foul Frequency - Dictates where the ball will go when you're timing isn't perfect. At 10 the majority of just early swings find the crowd. At 0 the just early swings are going to find fair territory more often if the pitch location dictates it. Obviously a very inside pitch you're early on is still getting yanked towards the dugout and that remains true at 0 foul frequency, but now those pitches down the middle that you're barely early on are no longer 20 rows deep into the crowd foul, they're going to find grass, fair or foul, much more often which makes sense. Only the very early swings on balls not inside should be getting pulled foul at a high clip.

5 games into a franchise and I'm undefeated playing with Cincinnati mostly because the CPU offense is punchless. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

Second straight year of this game being offensively deprived. It’s extremely frustrating. I find myself almost rooting for the cpu. I understand it’s only been a week however I don’t have the slightest clue how to fix this.

If you're on hall of fame with classic pitching, it won't last.

I do get your point that it is only 5 games and you need to play more. But the game was like this for everybody last year on HOF so that is why some people are worried. That is why we had to go up to legend in our sliders last year. It is something that we just have to keep an eye on.

Try cpu contact 6 and solid hits back to 5

I hear what you're saying. I played all year on 21 last year on all star plus and didn't have issues. With very minimal slider tweaking at all. That's all I'm saying.

I've raised solid hits and foul frequency back to 5, so the CPU is now default HOF. I'll see how this goes. And for whomever replied, I'm on classic pitching.

I’ve played 30 games and I agree with the punch less CPU comment.

I keep going back and forth on classic pitching. I swear it’s like I absolutely cannot locate the ball. I honestly think I maybe get 4 or 5 pitches a game that go where I want them to even with my best pitchers. I think I might just go back with meter and deal with the no walks given up

I will be back at it Sunday night. Sit tight everyone. I have a lot of testing to get too.

This is still a beta set.

I struggle with classic pitching as well. Always try it at some point every year, but it never sticks.

I use pulse pitching instead, since it gives me a little more control over the outcome, but there is still a dice roll so ratings play a big part.
