After you play a full game and get back to the franchise menu, do you then load up the "sim game" sliders? So when you advance a day that the sliders are set to what Dowie/Billiou use to keep down the complete games for pitchers.

I sim every game that day before I play mine so the ticker updates during my game and I can see what is going on in real time around the league.

So I load in the sim sliders (Starter Stamina 2 Hook 10 is the only thing I change for sim game sliders) simulate every game (except mine obviously) then load in my set....play my game...advance day. Rinse and repeat.

If I have an off day we will load in the sim set to sim those games on my day off etc.

Really easy and super quick.

I also take a look at my upcoming series and adjust the scheduled CPU starters stamina vs my team at the same time and once I play the last game of that series revert them back. Makes it easier.

FYI everyone I am employing my injury matrix on the OP......I highly suggest you guys use it. It really makes you make day to day decisions on tired players.

For example on my Yankees I have employed “veterans scheduled day off” for Rizzo and DJ and I have been exclusively DH’ing Stanton (I won’t dare let him play in the field and get hurt LOL).

It adds a great layer of strategy to your day to day “wear and tear” franchise.

If you are enjoying V1 stick with it. V2 are my personal adjustments to balance out the Human side which I felt was weaker offensively and throwing too many meatballs. I feel like we now have fine tuned and balanced the set to be equal. On HOF CPU Aces and top bullpen guys are next level compared to All-Star.....trust me. And pitching on HOF is also tougher vs very good hitters on HOF. You gotta pitch sequence smartly. They will pick up on your patterns quickly.

So what has changed?

Human Sliders:

Power to 6 (from 5)
Foul Frequency to 3 (from 5)
Solid Hits to 5 (from 4)
Starter Stamina to 6 (from 5)
Pitcher Control to 5 (from 4)


CPU:

Starter Stamina to 6 (from 5)
Pitcher Control to 5 (from 4)

Global:

Gameplay Injury Frequency to 10 (from 8)

Human Global:

Pitch Speeds to 7/7 (from 9/9)

Settings:

Auto Throwing - On
Auto Baserunning - On
Auto Shifts - On


I am really really pleased with these changes which have been tested and the games have great variety.

The key changes were solid hits from 4 to 5 and pitch speeds from 9/9 to 7/7.

Pitch Speeds are a huge personal preference and act as the true difficulty lever for your hitting success or failure. Trial and error on 23 led me to 7/7.

I play 9/9 on MLB 20.......that is not the case on 23 where the speeds are amped up visually as well as he “timing window” is a lot less forgiving on 23. So we realized this and instead of getting frustrated.....we adapted and changed to where I felt is was really fair for my skill level and hand eye at my ripe age of 53 (not 54 just yet LOL but soon!!).

So please adjust pitch speeds to where your comfortable....but not too comfortable. I am still late on 98-101 fastballs I am not sitting on. Nasty pitchers still are nasty for me. It may take you many games to figure out your pitch speed level. And hey if you are feeling it’s too easy....click it up. I have given myself 3 clicks up in adjustment moving forward.

Remember I play every pitch of every game in our 2024 Yankees Franchise.

Pitcher control at default is actually perfect. And that counteracts the move up in solid hits for the human (4 to 5).


Anyway......try them out....give them at least a dozen games to breathe before seeing if V1 is better fo you.

I am typing up a Yankees 2024 Recap as well right now.....we have had quite the up and down start already. The struggle is real!!! But I see brighter days ahead for our Bombers as the season progresses.

This upping the CPU Starting Pitcher stamina.. I'm using Cycloniac's TrueSim Roster for my Modern 2023 What If Mets Season.

I wonder if I can use this method?

I'm gonna have to check out the stamina for each SP and compare to the stock rosters and how it plays out.

Edit - Upon review, the roster I'm using has ratings adjusted already that matches up with the slider sets. I'll use the above method when using stock or other general rated rosters etc. Carry on! LOL

Curious to see what you’re cooking up Armour..

Sliders are playing great but I am smacking the CPU around on offense and they’re doing decent themselves but could use a little more Oomph.


They still foul off way too many pitches

Yeah, with the original sliders I absolutely blasted the CPU like never before, I scored 6, 10, 6, 10 and then 12 runs against them. I swear I normally suck at offense in these games...

I am curious....what level and sliders did you play before that for a point of comparison.

V2 is certainly not for you then......because V1 was more unforgiving on the human side of hitting.

Anyway these are probably not the right sliders for you....but I would venture to say if you keep playing things are going to change on you through the course of 162.

Yeah......I have been playing this series for over 18 years now......the ups and downs of a 162 game season playing every game is magical.

Yeah, it is really tough to see how it goes if you start with a up or down right off the bat. You start with a down, you think the sliders aren’t enough.

Yeah I have....I fell in love with Retro after switching to it last year. The Jumbotrons and park backdrops look majestic with that camera.

It's also the most scaled-to-size camera. The centerfielder no longer feels a mile away; everything and everyone is right back in front of you. The retro cam gives me the immersive feeling of being in the park.

HOF both pitching and hitting, and your base slider set, nothing was changed.


Could be a hot streak as well, but after some point I just started swinging without paying much attention, same goes for pitching where I just threw every sinker in the top of the zone, the CPU barely made any good contact throughout all but one of those games.

OK....not a big deal, but I am really struggling with getting the # of complete games and # of 200 inning pitchers right for the 1984 and 1998 rosters/season.

It was really easy to dial in the correct sim stats (in those 2 areas) for modern season play, but the classic eras aren't cooperating.

In 1984 52 pitchers threw 200 innings and there were 632 complete games thrown.

In 1998 57 pitchers threw 200 inning and there were 302 complete games thrown.

So either I dialed in the right number for one or the other, but can't find the right sim combo to get them both close to those #'s.

If anyone else wants to give it a whirl, go for it and please report back.

Again, not a deal breaker......it would just be a nice to have.
