    Re: S & B’s MLB 2024 Simulation Sliders

Great thread as usual guys. I hit only but keep a lot of stats. Pitching is too hard to dial in imo and you guys seem to agree.

First strongly recommend using the stick instead of buttons. Much more like hitting…. are there a lot of stick users? Because all the slider gurus here seem to recommend buttons.

Pitch speed is a huge factor. It is user preference but dramatically affects the game play. I had a good stretch of games on 7/7 so i tried 8/8 and got my a$$ kicked. K rate went from 22% to 31%. Chase rate skyrocketed too. If you feel hitting is too easy on all star, before tweaking anything, try going up on pitch speed. Unless of course, you’re already at 10…. I went back to 7 with my tail between my legs.

Other one is strike frequency. Playing 3 right now and cpu strikes are about 51%. It was 53% at 5 for me and in between at 4. I’m sure this is also approach driven but I used same approach at each. I’d like fewer strikes but don’t want to go too far from default.

    Thanks!

I've been using the right stick to hit for last few years, only way to play IMO. Much more responsive, again IMO.

What do you mean by responsive? I’ve always wanted to use the stick but for whatever reason just use the buttons

When I press up to swing on the right stick it's quicker to respond than pressing the A button (or X for power). Just for me personally, might not be everyones cup of tea, but I settled on this years ago and there is no going back to pressing the A button.

            Just push up.

Power swing (down and up) is probably slower and harder than the buttons. I only use regular swing.

I play zone too so it’s both sticks.

Super fun and satisfying when you hit it well.

You don't even have to do the down up in one motion for power swing. Just flick down as the pitcher comes set/starts his wind up, let go, push up.

I was trying to time it down then up and I was a mess, saw that tip above on here somewhere it it made power swinging super easy. I rarely use it with that said.

I use analog stride & I assume I'm in the minority. Reminds me of the older Show games and feels more realistic imo.

Played half of a game. This seemed to help. I have a pretty busy week so I might just take my own little All Star Break from the game for a couple days and see what happens when I pick it back up.

Hey S and B. I haven't played much since the last patch... curious, is the CPU still pretty dangerous using version 4 compared to version 3? You guys getting similar numbers? Thanks!

Can I ask why you have the foul frequency set to zero?

Through the years (IMO) it helps to open up the offense, and with hit variety.

How does someone know what value they should have like what would be a good indicator to increase or decrease this slider?

I’m not sure what a good value is. We have it at 0 to get more hits down the line. Raising it could lower the amount of hits down the line that would have been fair.

They should be the same. Version 4 was to fix the amount of strikeouts we started to see since patch 12.
